No, that's right. Having fun is the most important and learning new skills. There's plenty of CZcams video's on patinaring, I noticed there was a lot of sharp edges where the paint is cracked if you feather those edges with sandpaper make a huge difference gives it that more weathered look instead of being damaged look doing a great job I'm enjoying the project.
I actually just came across an F-550 that was for sale for $1,000 or so. It has a much shorter bed than your F-550 and it has a Welding bed on it. If I had the means, I would have scooped it up and did a Detroit swap on it.
Long ago this Jimmy mechanic was telling me that even longer ago Americans were using super hotted 4-53 engines in their armoured vehicles , upping the rev limiter and other means to get horsepower in the 300-400 range. Of course, a truck would be tuned differently.
The plan is try and get 280-300 HP smoke free from a Silver 4-53T.:) I daily drive a Silver 4-53T @ 240HP smoke free, so I think I can get another 40-60 HP reliably.:)
Need to Sand and feather the edges around the rust spots to make it look more weathered then Paint the whole thing in Detroit Alpine Green except the rust spots then rub it back to expose the white where the rust is then do that ageing process and then clearcoat over the top of that, just a suggestion

For the life of me, i don't get patina ! Restore, make better, paint terribly if you want, but preserve! Thats my 2 cents.
This is a new look for me, if I don't like it I can always go back and retore.:)
