1: Many years, many years, many thousands of years and many hundred thousands more. Gem-hued Lord with mighty wrestling shoulders, your red lotus feet are our refuge.
2: To the bond between us, many and many a thousand years. To the dainty lady resting on your manly chest, many and many a thousand years. To the fiery orb discus adorning your right shoulder, many and many a thousand years. To the conch Panchajanya that strikes terror in the battlefield, many and many a thousand years.
3: You that stand and suffer life, come! Accept talc paste and fragrances. We shall not admit into our fold those who are slaves of the palate. For seven generations, pure hearted, we have sung the praises of Kodanda Rama who launched an army and destroyed Lanka, the demon's haunt.
4: Before you place your trust on infirm ground, come! Join us! O, Like-hearted man, give up your temporal aims and join us quickly! Let town and country resound with the chant 'Namo Narayanaya'. Ye Devotees, who wish to sing, come! Join us in singing Pallandu.
5: Asseting his supremacy over all creation, as Hrisikesha, he destroyed the clannish Asuras and Rakshasas. O Devotees, revere his feet, chanting the thousand names. Give up your old connections and ways and sing 'Many thousands of years Pallandu'.
6: my father's father's father's father and his grandfather before him, over seven generations have performed service to the Lord. In the asterism of sravanam, at dusk, the Lord came as the man-lion and tore apart the foe. End your suffering, join us! Sing 'Many years, many thousands of years Pallandu'.
7: Branded with a shape of the radiant discus blazing with the brilliance of fire we stands and serve, generation after generation. For him who swirled the discus over Banasura-- who was waging a war of illusion,-and made his thousand shoulders bleed, we sing Pallandu.
8: The Lord gives me good rice food with Ghee, and privileges of attendance, Betel leaf and Areca nut, ornaments for the neck and ears and fragrant Sandal paste to smear. He purges my soul. He has the Garuda bird,-foe of the hooded snakes, - on his banner; for him I sing Pallandu.
9: we wear the yellow vestments you wear and discard. We eat the food offered to you. We wear the woven Tulasi flowers you wear and discard, and rejoice. Keeping watch over the ways of the world, you appeared in the asterism of Sravanam. O Lord reclining on the hooded snake,To you we sing Pallandu.
10: My Lord! The day we became your bonded serfs, that very day our entire clan found its refuge and salvation, see! You appeared on that auspicious day in Mathura city, destroyed Kamsa's arsenal and danced on the head of the five hooded snake, Pallandu to you.
11: My Lord Tirumal! Like the faultless chief of Kottiyur Selvanambi, a mountain of respectability, I am an old faithful servant of yours, Chanting Namo Narayanaya and other names in myriad ways with all my power, O Pure One, I sing Pallandu to you.
12: These words were uttered with love by Villiputtur's Vishnuchitta, wishing 'Pallandu' for the pure Lord, the large-hearted one, wielder of the Sarnga bow. Those who enjoy singing this surround the Lord at all times chanting 'Namo Narayanaya', for them too, this god year Pallandu.

வடிவார் சோதி வலத்துறை யும்சுட ராழியும் பல்லாண்டு
படைபோர் புக்கு முழங்கும்அப் பாஞ்சசன்னியமும் பல்லாண்டே (2)
வாழாட் பட்டுநின் றீருள்ளீ ரேல்வந்து மண்ணும் மணமும்கொண்மின்
கூழாட் பட்டுநின் றீர்களை எங்கள் குழுவினில் புகுதலொட்டோம்
ஏழாட் காலும் பழிப்பிலோம் நாங்கள் இராக்கதர் வாழ்இலங்கை

ஏடு நிலத்தில் இடுவதன் முன்னம்வந்து எங்கள் குழாம்புகுந்து

பாயச் சுழற்றிய ஆழிவல் லானுக்குப் பல்லாண்டு கூறுதுமே (7)
நெய்யிடை நல்லதோர் சோறும் நியதமும் அத்தாணிச் சேவகமும்
கையடைக் காயும் கழுத்துக்குப் பூணொடு காதுக்குக் குண்டலமும்
மெய்யிட நல்லதோர் சாந்தமும் தந்துஎன்னை வெள்ளுயி ராக்கவல்ல
பையுடை நாகப் பகைக்கொடி யானுக்குப் பல்லாண்டு கூறுவனே (8)
உடுத்துக் களைந்தநின் பீதக வாடை யுடுத்துக் கலத்ததுண்டு

செந்நாள் தோற்றித் திருமது ரையுள் சிலை குனித்து ஐந்தலைய
பைந்நா கத்தலை பாய்ந்தவ னே உன்னைப் பல்லாண்டு கூறுதுமே (10)
அல்வழக் கொன்றுமில் லாஅணி கோட்டியர் கோன்அபி மானதுங்கன்
செல்வனைப் போலத் திருமா லேநானும் உனக்குப் பழவடியேன்
நல்வகை யால்நமோ நாரா யணாவென்று நாமம் பலபரவி

பல்லாண் டென்று பவித்திர னைப்பர மேட்டியை சார்ங்கமென்னும்

I request north Indian and south Indian Hindus don't hate Sanskrit or Tamil language
Both are our languages both used by our ancestors , take pride in both - from Singapore
There is no problem as long as sanskrit is willing to coexist with tamil and not try to self proclaim its superiority.....

Periyalwar, one of the twelve Alwars, was born in Srivilliputhur on Swathi Nakshatra in Ani month and was named ‘Vishnuchitha’ by his parents. He was blessed with Bhagavath Bhakthi from birth itself. He maintained a beautiful garden filled with flowers. He used to make fresh garland every day with these flowers and offer it to Srivilliputhur Emperuman (Bhagavan Vishnu in the Srivilliputhur Temple) with great affection.
At that time a pandiya king named Sri Vallabha Deva assembled scholars from all regions to establish the Supreme Truth based on Vedanta.
With the blessings of Bhagavan Srihari Vishnu, Periyalwar explained the essence of Shastras and the Supreme Truth of Sriman Narayana. He proved that nothing exists other Sriman Narayana with proofs from Sruthi, Smrithi, Itihasas, puranas and other scriptures of Sanatana Dharma.
King Sri Vallabha Deva honored him with the title ‘pattarpiran’ meaning one who has done great favours to bhattars (great scholars) by revealing the Supreme Truth.
The king then took Periyalwar in a grand procession around Madurai. Bhagavan Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi atop GARUDA arrived to witness the procession. SRI VISHNUis great.
Periyalwar was able to sense and presence of Sriman Narayana and looked up in the sky. With the blessing of Bhagavan, he had the divine darshan of Bhagavan Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi atop Garuda in the sky.
Periyalwar thought that Bhagavan has arrived here to bless me, so let me pray for His well being now. He then picks up the bell from the neck of the elephant which was carrying him and started singing ‘Thiruppallandu.’ Periyalwar out of great love, invites everyone along to sing Thiruppallandu. Sriman Narayana returned to his abode happily after hearing the Thiruppallandu. The overflowing emotions as a result of the darshan of Bhagavan resulted in Periyalwar, revealing the divine prabandham named ‘Periyalwar Thirumozhi’.
Periyalwar also had the great fortune of becoming the father-in-law of Bhagavan Vishnu when he was able to give his daughter Andal in marriage to Bhagavan. Periyalwar found Andal who was an incarnation of Goddess Bhumi Devi near a Tulsi garden in Srivilliputhur and named her kodhai (which means a garland). She grew up under the influence of Periyalwar and as result she developed a great attachment to Bhagwan Vishnu. Her unwavering and unfathomable devotion resulted in her marrying Bhagavan. She is also one among the twelve Alwars.

I am born into a Telugu family, and I speak the language besides English and Hindi. But I am not a linguist, in spite of my love for languages. Please take a book on Sanskrit and read the stotras, and wherever you live, I am sure there are Tamilians, please learn the language from them. Good luck and God bless, :)

Dear all...am.also a vaishnaviye by birth but since iam a v v proud Bharathiyan, i am.calljng myself as "SAINAVITE" ...hope all like it. Nothing wrong in calling oneself Vaisnavite or Saivite but be proud of one's roots BUT never looks down others esp amongst Hindus

This pasurum relates the benefit of reciting all the above 12 pasurums
Meaning--The sacred Bhagwan the Resident of Paramapadam [Vaikuntum] who is the Bhagwan who possesses the bow Saranga, has His auspicious qualities enumerated in the hymn Pallandu by Vishnu Chittar [Peraizhwar], the resident of Sri Valli Puthur.
Periazhwar has written these pasurums owing to his compassion towards us all.
All those who recite the above pasurum anad chant Namo Narayana with the belief that good days have dawned upon us will reach the abode of Paramatma and worship Him by reciting His sacred names and also pray that His sacred feet is protected for crores of lakhs of years to come
