My benchtop mortiser features a face clamp, x/y table which are very nice to have. Your chisel tip is blue. You may have the drill bit too low.

Agreed, the face clamp and X Y table are great features. The cheap hollow chisels I buy blue on the first use in white oak, even when set correctly. They do cut nicely though, and I keep them sharp

I need the chisels to fit the 5/8" chisel bits for bench top one ,but cannot find them , searches seem to assume i want the drill size to be 5/8"

I agree product descriptions for these is terribly lacking. The Woodcraft 4 piece set in a wood box has 5/8" shanks. The Shop Fox / Grizzly set in a plastic case has 3/4" shanks. Best to you.

Does anyone buy these anymore? I used to watch Norm use one of these on the New Yankee Workshop. I would think that the Festool Domino has mostl replaced these.

I can't comment on what everyone else is doing. I'm sure loose tenons / Dominos have their place. I sure like my hollow chisel mortiser. Nothing else makes square holes for through tenons and traditional Arts and Crafts furniture. Best to you.
