I've been getting a lot of questions about my scanoe. Here is a video showcasing what I've added onto it. If you have any questions comment below and I'll answer it. Let me know what video I should make next!
Wow man, very nice. I thought I went overboard with my 14’ rouge river, a few rod mounts, lights, and a old 17lb thrust minn kota! You really have a nice setup here.
wow that is a beast of a setup for the scanoe! in love with that bow mount trolling motor. i have the same canoe but just the transom mounted one and its a pain to now have a wireless or foot controlled motor but dang if only money grew on trees lol but awesome setup man didnt know this beast could get all fancied up and ready to rock like a real boat. please post more videos of you rocking them fishes on this machinery!!!
That's really nice I am looking to mount a 30lb on my single canoe .if the beep is bothering you what we do at work on our lifts is put tap over where the beep comes from and it won't be so loud.anyways nice set up.
The tohatsu 3.5 is a great motor, i have the same on my scanoe. I guess you have the minn kota for back up but the tohatsu is fine for trolling and wont fail.
Hello and best Regards from Germany. I have a question for your stabilisation swimmer on the left side (that you show us) and perhaps the other side. Can you tell me where you have bought this? Thank you and best Regards from Germany, Christian Kuhlmann
Hi Christian, got it from a company called Spring creek manufacturing. www.springcreek.com/product/paddle-sports/canoe/hd-canoe-stabilizer-floats-complete-package/
Honestly, I don't use my gas as much as my electric. The only time I really put the gas motor is during the spring where the river is flooded and the current is high. My electric although can get me up river, is definitely slower and you're running it at max speed.
Very doable, but if you plan to stand and fish it can get dicey. Or if you have another angler in the canoe while fishing, I'd go with stabilizers. There are DIY videos on making your own stabilizers. Way cheaper than buying them. Essentially, PVCs with crab floats.
How/where you get the trailer for the canoe!? I really dislike having to transport my canoe on top of my vehicle. Would rather drop it in like a regular boat?
When you have the trolling motor on the bow, you have better control over where your canoe goes. When it's on the transom, you gain better power. Hope that helped!
Like your setup but $800 for the trolling motor? Why not one of the 30lbs motors for around $100? I mean at that price you could get an outboard and a small trolling motor. Just curious.
I understand. It was a tough pill to swallow forsure. But I wanted the features of a nicer remote trolling motor. It has GPS, Spot Lock, and Cruise mode. I looked into the other brands and they were asking for way too much for them.
Made by KL Industries - which is the parent of Sun Dolphin. Sun Dolphin Scout SS is the home unit, Coleman purchased these and relabeled them as the SCanoe. Now you can find them at Field and Stream/Dick's as the 'Field and Stream Scout'. I have a SD Scout--SS that I've done mods to, and still have more mods to do...one day I'll put up a vid of what I've done to it.
problem with a trolling motor like that on the front is that you have to have a canoe trailer to put it in the water because you are not going to haul that canoe by hand and that canoe wheel hauler will be almost useless with that much weight on it, which means using that setup on a lake you gotta push in without a boat ramp pullup will be almost impossible.
I have been in a few situations where the parking of a lake does not allow trailer parking. I scale all the way down to just a fishing finder, battery, and trolling motor. The dolly works fine in those situation. Launching is not as bad as taking out. It does take extra time.
With just me, full gear, and stabilizers tucked in, I clocked around 10MPH. However, water spilled over from the bow. I could def. have shifted the weight back more to prevent that.
“Lake Michigan trolling for salmon”..... gotta see that. That sound awesome !!
Dont be scared. Open that controller up and disconnect the sound. Easy.
Awesome setup bro! I am def amazed and a little jealous

Thanks JJ Curry. Tight lines!
Nice set up, thanks!
Very nice setup man I have been looking for how to set up my ghenoe

Thanks @eyelovefishing. I'm actually in the process of building a new canoe. Will post up in the near future. Stay tuned.
@@paoc.adventures sounds good!! can't wait for the new update!
great video very helpful , super ideas thanks..... cheers
Glad you enjoyed it

Nice rig mate. Did you ever try to start the engine in forward gear? (does it crank?).

What size shaft did you guys get on your scanoes? 15” or 20”? Also, Shawn, is yours a newer scanoe like this or the older aluminum rimmed one?

What kind of trailer you got up your cahow long is it
What size husky tool box did you get? 26 inch?
Can you add a video on detailed on how you put on motor
The trolling motor?
I actually sold this one and built a new canoe on my channel. Check it out. I think it's 10x better there.
Do you prefer a gas motor over an electric trolling motor? I just have a min Kota and it gets me up and going.

Thoughts on fishing from canoes without stabilizers? They all seem so expensive.

Craigslist or fb marketplace. I have a jetski trailer. Works well for loading and uploading!
I wish you wouldn't hold a camera so close can't really see the very nice work you've done
How long is the shaft on your motor?
Congratulations for realizing a canoe is a much better fishing craft than a kayak, and cheaper.
Very true!
Do you have a link to the seat and the mount? Thanks in advance!
If you search Attwood Clamp mount with swivel, you should be able to find the item.
How important is the stabilizers on your canoe
Very important if you're planning on standing on the canoe.
Could you put any more crap on that canoe?
Why the side transom when you have a square transom right there?
I just bought a square transom canoe for this reason.
@@hayden8491 gotcha. I haven't had mine out yet. I can't wait to try it. I'm putting it on the factory transom in the back. I have a 55#

Which model of canoe is that? Thank you.
I don't know the exact year but it's a coleman scanoe. Sun Dolphin has the same one too.

What cart is that?
Seattle Sports Paddleboy ATC
Bought it from Amazon
Very cool! Although Your watch was blocking some of the things
First 'real' video I'm putting out there. Thanks for the feedback and will keep that in mind shooting my next.
Nice setup, but please lose the chewing gum when you are making a recording. It is very distracting.
Thanks, will keep that in mind next time.

I have the same canoe and been looking at getting an outboard for it. How fast does that 3.5 push you?
A 2.5 suzuki pushes my 16' square stern aluminum canoe at 8.6mph according to my phone gps.
With just me, full gear, and stabilizers tucked in, I clocked around 10MPH. However, water spilled over from the bow. I could def. have shifted the weight back more to prevent that.
Nice... but looks like overkill LOL. There's too much going on there, less is more.
You need a proper fishing boat, you just messed up a canoe.
Breathe in and smack your lips more.
