  • Bought this beat up canoe from a friend as a project boat and attempted to document some of the process of adding the lights and other features. This boat is great for skinny water fishing and even hunting. LEDs are plenty bright, everything runs on a 12 volt system and it has two outlets for charging electronic devices. Only thing it needs now is a depthfinder...

    Attracts a ton of bugs depending where you live. I know what a million mosquitos look like sitting in a canoe.

    At the beginning, he said he was going to put the red light on the starboard side. I’m glad he caught the error and put it on the port side where it belongs.

    I guarantee that a set of jumper cables would be much less $ than that cable that you bought. You can always take off the clamps and just use the wire. Jjust a thought for next time.

    I have watched this video several times. Wanting to do something similar. You just running a car battery? Have you had it die on you yet? I'm wondering how long the battery would last cause there are some lake grounds I want to hunt/fish this year and I may need to go an hour or 2 each way or so. Thanks.

      Get a deep cycle battery. Not a starting battery. Gives you longer running times.

    00:04-So, fast forward to 2020.
    Bet those lights did not work out so well for night fishing...........
    why..........
    Bugs.!
    Get a telescopic extendable cheap fishing pole, mount a LED down shining light on the end
    of the pole.
    Mount perpendicular to the canoe via a pole holder
    and say good bye to 'light happy' bugs and hell-o to lighted, bug free
    personal space in the canoe.
    Works for me.

    • @CatmanOutdoors
      @CatmanOutdoors  Před 4 lety +1

      revolutionpm the lights really come in handy when I’m hauling deer out or tying on a bait. But yes, if the bugs are bad, the lights are off unless I need them. I can turn them on whenever I need to see what I’m doing. It’s served me very well

      I'm in the process of throwing around led lighting ideas from my canoe. I want to use it for squid fishing and floundering at night. Never thought of the bugs the lights would attract!!

  • @lorenaroma

    • @nathanzeigler6852
      @nathanzeigler6852 Před 3 lety

      Check your local laws. But generally if you add a motor to it, you have to register it. Each state is different though.

  • @emeraldfox7175

    The juice in that battery is gonna be gone quick,how do you recharge it while you're out?

    • @CatmanOutdoors
      @CatmanOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      A 29DC battery from Walmart will last several days with that setup if you’re not running the trolling motor all the time. The LEDs barely use a trickle.
