Here in eastern KY everyone calls em Toppy worms.

We have several of these in our neighborhood and i often sit outside at night and you can hear them from every direction at all hours starting at sundown. (Yes i know they're nocturnal, just saying it's pretty cool) Last night one of them sounded different than usual, louder and hooting a lot faster. Like a lot. Now i don't know what paid the price last night for being in the wrong place at the wrong time but i do know that it suffered a horrific fate 😂. Ive never heard the noises i heard last night but it lasted several minutes. It was actually pretty sad how protracted it was. But like they say... Damn nature you scary!😂

Has the boat ramp at Shelby park been difficult to launch from? I’ve seen some rough reviews about it but can’t find too many other decent places to launch near downtown

I don't know why they don't just use dragnets. Or any net that will work. It would be so much easier than one at a time.

I live in Northern Kalifornistan and use the heads/carcasses of Salmon/Rockfish/Lingcod with great results in my Garden but If I lived there with access to all those worthless Carp, my vegetable garden would be so friggin awesome!

Dude this is so awesome. I did my first spring turkey hunting this year and it was a blast. I wish i knew of this video before i disposed of the carcass after processing because i would have made one of these. Hopefully fall i get one in tge fall so i can do this. Awesome video

Remember getting those with my Grandpa and catfishing. In right now, in Missouri, the mulberries are are at their peak. And if they're dropping in the water, the catfish will be there and the carp. Also, we just had a double dose of cicadas, and the fishing has been good.

Looks like the KY river, parts of it. Now some places there looks like the Licking river.

I knowed some old fellars, including my old man, used to call them "Patalka" worms, or Patalca worms, haha. And they also call a mimosa tree, a firmosa, but that's them old briar hoppers or billhillys for you. Don't matter what anybody says, most folks knows what their talking about, for the most part. We've got Catalpa trees all around here and i used to check them all every year and never saw the first worm on any of them. I don't know, maybe it was something to do with the tree or something..

Easiest way to get the worms on branches you can't reach is to throw a stick up to hit the branch. They will come raining down. Used to do it every summer at my cousin's house. All kinds of fish like them. Thanks for the video.

It is amazing how fast they grow...you caught one on video pooping. If you stand close to the tree that has a good infestation, it will literally sound like it is raining - caterpillar poop that is. Great bait, but a very short window to harvest them. Many freeze them, but they will live quite some time in the refrigerator.🐛 That bluff you camped across from was beautiful...gotta love nature. 👍👍

A ole timer told me that you could take extra "Catawba" worms, put them in a freezable container, cover the worms in cornmeal, and freeze them for later in the year...?
