In this video I show how to mount a light weight 1.2 hp Gamefisher gas motor to the back of a roto mold Kayak with starting, steering, and throttle control up front.
That looks terrifying and fun all at the same time! I've had a couple of those tiny outboards... Boy are they picky sometimes. Glad you got it sorted out!
Another brilliant build and video Paul. Speed ❤️ your joy and laughter, maybe a couple little outriggers could help stabilise it so you don’t end up in the water.
that steering bar... yeah, some adjustment. best of all i'd like to see you make outriggers for it, just to see what you would make. it would be interesting.
Reminds me from a scene in the movie Yogi Bear (2010) in the scene where Bobo drives a canoe with a motor screwed on the back. With Yogi water skiing from behind.
Paul … Excellent job on the kayak!!! I was concerned about stability but you proved that if you stay reasonable, you shouldn’t have any problems. Can’t wait to see it again. Wishing you and your wife the happiest of Thanksgiving holiday seasons!!! Take care, be safe and God bless!!! Chuck Knight formerly from Buffalo, Texas and now from Atascocita, Texas. ✝️👨🌾🙏🎅🖖
Awesome build, I just acquired an old game Fisher 1.2 which appears to have a bad condensor, seems very difficult to find the exact condenser. I’m gonna try to modify it with an old Johnson condenser.
I've got a pelican catch 120 that I've mounted something like your base to it. I've considered putting my 2hp onto it as my electric has a BIG battery that shifts my C.ofB. more to the rear than i like.
I've thought of trying my 3hp Tanaka, but I was getting wet in fairly calm waters with this little guy, so I'd have to add a spray skirt. A stabilizer would also help with tipping and underwater encounters.
Thanks for sharing the fun project Paul and ride, lots of smiles per dollar on that one. Btw, I have some friends here in Oregon by the name of Elkins who do a lot of crazy projects too, some of which fly, and I was wondering if they might be some kin?
Nice job. Electric might give a more pleasant ride, quieter anyway. Two kayaks side by side as a catamaran should be more stable and have room for a friend. Great project, thanks for sharing.
indeed it does, and it's only 15 pounds. As long as I run it dry before storing I can start it years later with no problem, unlike a battery that powers a trolling motor.
You could get away from the police if you were on the run Paul.
This is Paul at his best, messing around with old and leftover stuff and making things work. Very inspiring and great fun, thanks!
Always my favorite challenge, making stuff with the junk you've got! Love it.

I used a trolling motor for mine and outriggers for stability. Good job Paul.
a new paul video, always a treat 😊
Thank you Lolo...
Neat! Id love to do this, but the game warden would burn me like a hot dog dropped in the campfire. Stay safe!
That looks loads of fun with plenty of scope to playaround optimising, great work dodging those wooden torpedos 👍
You are the coolest man on CZcams i love your cool builds fun cool amazing stuff. I would love to have some of your builds.❤
Excellent job 👍🏴🇬🇧
Please do a small house boat project! Thank you for sharing!
I would if I had room to store it after the build. It sucks living in a suburban neighborhood, in that regard.
Another fun and practical build, thanks Paul!

I've thought of attaching one of my old Coro pontoons to the side. Just might do that.

I just rewatched the scene. It wasn't screwed, it was roped on.
7 to 8 knots, not too shabby at all Paul. That's a nice little motor for something like that 👍
Cool setup
All Paul vídeos matter!!!
Well, that definitely looks like fun! Very cool! 😁👍
Looks like so much fun!
Aw man, I love these videos......
Wow!! That motorized kayak is pretty Zippy!! Awesome!! 1.2 HP Dang!!!
The hydrodynamics and the long length of the hull really help to make it scoot along, even with little power.

Just awesome!
As always keep enjoying yourself Paul

Elkins you genius
Haha that’s awesome!!

Definitely moving it along nice with a1.2,pretty amazing! Any chance you can put a 5 horse on your next video?

Ohh heck yeah!

❤
Much easier to mount the motor on the side, no steering mechanism required, easier to clean weeds off prop. 10:05
💪👍👍👍
Nice job.

top speed?
What if a whale breaches and lands on you?
Whale then he'll be in deep water
It's a risk I'm willing to take. I can always swim away, as long as it's not a hungry Orca.
Biden. Give this guy some tax credits and a grant for R&D
This is OK
Not just motorized, but you were hauling ass bro.
That thing has a 3 cup fuel tank and probably gets great fuel mileage
