  • Eric Malling reports on the case of Leonard Peltier, a Sioux Ojibway and a member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) serving a life sentence for the murder of two FBI agents in a 1975 skirmish at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Malling examines the FBI's conduct with respect to the American Indian Movement (AIM) in general and Peltier in particular, such as their use of false affidavits to extradite him from Alberta and their suppression of evidence at his trial. Also examined is the extensive media coverage the case had been receiving in the Soviet media. Malling interviews Peltier who claims he was shooting in self defense and doesn't believe his bullets even hit the men who died.
Peltier remains incarcerated at a United States Penitentiary in Florida and is next eligible for parole in 2024.

Pelteir was a fugitive from Wisconsin and he brought his trouble to the Pine Ridge Reservation. He admitted to shooting the FBI agents. That's why he's not ever getting released. I think people should be praying for his soul instead of his release.

Regardless of whether he did it or not, Peltier was not given a fair trial. There was not enough evidence to indict. This man was denied his constitutional right to a fair trial. A prime example of our broken justice system.

They had to shut him up somehow. Thats why they did what they did because if he got out he is an activist and just like all great activists they all get silenced in some way shape or form. And they shut him up and threw away they key just to keep him silenced. The government will lose one day and will have the world to pay for because of all the injustices they make will be known and be brought to justice for the world to see.

Leonard Peltier (born September 12, 1944) is a Native American activist and member of the American Indian Movement (AIM). In 1977, he was convicted and sentenced to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for first-degree murder in the shooting of two Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents during a 1975 conflict on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Peltier's indictment and conviction have been the subject of much controversy; Amnesty International placed his case under the "Unfair Trials" category of its Annual Report: USA 2010.[2]
Peltier is incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary, Coleman in Florida. Peltier became eligible for parole in 1993; his next scheduled parole hearing will be in July 2024, when Peltier is 79.[3][4] On January 18, 2017, the Office of the Pardon Attorney announced that President Barack Obama had denied Peltier's application for clemency.[5] Peltier can apply again for commutation in 2018.[5] Barring appeals, parole, or presidential clemency, Peltier will remain in prison for the rest of his life.[6]

The death penalty carries the inherent risk of executing an innocent person. Since 1973, at least 190 people who had been wrongly convicted and sentenced to death in the U.S. have been exonerated.Since 1973, the death penalty has been imposed on 228 children under 18 in the United States. Of these, 21 have been executed and 80 still remain on death row. The Supreme Court is currently set to rule on the constitutionality of the juvenile death penalty.

its Ojibway and Lakota.. Sioux Ojibway isn't a term.. its two different tribal indian nations .. We all know the gov pulled some find the ball under the coconut stuff.. that why the other two got off.. on :"self defense" .. because someone did some selling someone else down the river.. Those other 2 aren't /weren't being honest about whatever deals they made to save thier own necks.. Peltier was in Canada when they were acquited.. You got Dino who went around like no care in the world.. and Robideau who moved to Spain of all places for work in a museum...... Funny thing to move to a non extradition country after a major trial where you were acquited but your buddy who got a seperate trial was found guilty of the SAME CRIME-SCENE you were charged with...It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the gov doesn't want to show they made deals because we all know how crooked they are and this would be just more proof.. and that his "friends" and brothers in AIM sold him out for thier own freedom.. Thats why Leonard will never see a free day...

Leonard's soul isn't squeaky clean, he is the base cause to the brutal murder of Annie Mae Aquash, he was instrumental in making bombs and for what reason? He assigned Annie to assist in making bombs just to keep her implemented. As much as some of us will love to see a Native Indian as U. S. President...... and he will be greater than Obama, Leonard Peltier is far from best choice. We cannot know now who killed those two agents.... and yes The Indian people forever fighting great oppression. Leonard Peltier while born a very gifted Artist is not a great hero Chief. Something wrong with all this idolatry, 'Leonard's face carved in a Church building'..... Is this a Native Indian Church or the place where American FBI's or The White Man's Cross lives and worship?
