  • Innocent on Death Row: Clinton Young's Story (Crime Documentary) | Real Stories
At just 19 years old, Clinton Young was charged with the murder of two men and sentenced to death. Now, 14 years later, he is still awaiting execution and continues to plead he was not the real killer. With the conflicting testimonies not quite adding up and his DNA not on the evidence, is the wrong man on death row?
In November 2001, Young, along with three other men, left to pick up drugs on a journey that would rapidly spiral into chaos. A journey which ended up with two men dead. Despite strong evidence of irregularities at his trial, conflicting statements and the suspicion that key witnesses were co-erced, Young was given the death penalty.
Through personal interviews with his family and witnesses, simulations with ballistic experts and frank discussions with Young himself, Jessica Villerius delves deep into the case. A captivating investigative documentary.

Clinton Young has been released on $150,000 bond. He is awaiting a new trial back in Midland County. Turns out then DA Ralph Petty was working on the prosecuting the case and also moonlighting as a judicial clerk for that same trial. So the appeals court threw out the conviction. Hopefully things work out better for him in his new trial. Can’t believe he was 8 days away from being executed and now he is out in bond.

For those wondering, he was released on January of 2022 due to gross prosecution misconduct and was arrested on august for a murder they claimed he committed around the same time, 2001, in a different county, the DA of the current arrest claimed he was a spree killer and they didn't prosecuted him at the time cause he was convicted for another crime. As someone who doesn't trust law enforcement i truly believe they are persecuting him and trying to do anything to keep him in jail. Its easy to kill an innocent man than to admit they were wrong and messed up.

Agree, Cholé. But the USA is the ONLY rich, fairly free and powerful country in the world:
      1. that treats their citizen SO unfair and often cruel and systematic racists,
      2. with that HUGE percentage of innocent people in jail,
      3. who puts children in jail for LIFE, and
      4. has that INSANELY corrupt, violent, and systematic rotten police force and unjust "justice" system - just to mention a few VERY serious problems.
Sure, there ARE honest and fair cops and judges, but TOO FEW of them dare to speak out against their rotten colleagues!! As the cops (and their families) are in deadly danger if they do and are legal targets of their corrupt colleagues/chiefs and the powerful police union is almost ALWAYS on the corrupt, violent, etc. cop's side!!
And many honest judges get fired if they too often go against the "wrong" (powerful) people!
The USA doesn't often look at other countries to seek inspiration and knowledge about what works and what doesn't, regarding how to treat their citizens, but many democratic countries do look closely at the US, and use all the evidence of how the US' police force and legal system works as an example of how NOT to do!!
I really, really feel so bad and so angry, a rich and powerful nation, could be such a great place to live for all, but a majority choose to mistreat a huge percentage of their citizens, and they are using violence, poverty, no health care, etc. to control people, not the least misinformation and lies.
It's insane to watch and witness from outside.
This pandemic has just been another bad example: Close to 1 MIO Americans are already dead, and a huge percentage for NO REASON, other than a few people in politics and media, want more power, more money, and they are literally KILLING innocent people to get more!!
Not in 1821, or 1921, but in 2021, with ALL factual knowledge from all over the world available for almost all Americans! And most of it in their own language!!!
It's as INSANE AND AS CRUEL as only ONE rich and powerful nation, again and again, shows us they can and will do whatever it takes to gain power and money for the few!!

@@MotoDoktor01 trying to explain something to you is a waste of time. Did you see the video of Clinton Young arrest? He's driving the dead man vehicle. Now explain how he's not involved with the man's death. They all took a plea except Clinton.
Let's say he didn't pull the trigger that means he's still guilty by Texas law.
It's Clinton that wanted the underage girl. It's Clinton that wanted a vehicle to get to her. None of the test of them wanted no more than weed.
Of course he believes he's innocent just like OJ Simpson believes he's innocent. You tell yourself that long enough and you will believe it too. Those men had a right to live just as Clinton wishing to now.

It makes me sick how many District Attorneys and police officers and detectives are willing to destroy a person's life just to get the conviction that they want regardless of actual guilt. I have a friend who is being tried for a crime of the sexual nature against his teenage autistic stepdaughter. When she was on the stand, she testified to exactly what my friend had testified to and said that Brian would never do anything like that to her. She been testified to exactly what her stepfather had said. The judge was Furious, clear the courtroom, and added two more charges because they had to list the first as never a crime. In her initial interrogation, she had already said that he had not done what the other two charges were alleging. It didn't matter. A corrupt Judicial System caused him to spend 10 years in prison, lose his fathering relationship with his children, which was his ex-wife's goal in the first place, and now have the rest of his life Tethered to a GPS and a restrictive curfew.

The 'gun instructor' pointing a gun at the journalist multiple times is disconcerting. The first rule of handling firearms is that you don't point a weapon at anything you don't intent to kill regardless of whether it is loaded or not. I certainly would not hire this guy for any type of firearms training.

I have to say it and I mean it:
This is by far the best True Crime Documentary I‘ve ever seen in my 45 years of age!!! 👏👏👏
The whole case of Clinton Young was a farce and Jessica Villerius (not a lawyer, a journalist!) proved that in 58 minutes and 5 seconds.
Oh boy, I really love the state of Texas, and I know that they are very „spot on“ when it comes to high sentences for murder, capital murder, etc.
But this time the DA and probably all the prosecutors did screw up big time! AND Clinton Young sadly had a good lawyer in his first trial.
Thanks for making such a masterpiece @Jessica Villerious, you definitely showed what true investigative journalism looks like.

Yeah, that's sad. At the same time, prosecutors have got to know that they have a very poor chance of convicting him of murder this time around, two decades later. My guess is, and it's only a guess, they want to hold the prospect of another trial (and possible guilty verdict) over his head so he pleads to a lower charge and gets time served, and walks right away. This lets the prosecutors save face, and saves the state or county from paying out millions in a lawsuit.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals tossed out the capital murder conviction and death sentence of Clinton Young on Wednesday after it was discovered that one of the prosecutors in his case also worked for the judge.
Young, 38, has been on death row since 2003, convicted of a Midland County murder in which he insists he was framed. But while his other appeals were pending, a new district attorney discovered that a prosecutor who worked on Young’s case worked for the judge at the same time, even drafting the court’s order to deny one of Young’s first appeals. The prosecutor has since retired and, this year, agreed to give up his license in lieu of disciplinary action.
“Judicial and prosecutorial misconduct - in the form of an undisclosed employment relationship between the trial judge and the prosecutor appearing before him - tainted [Young’s] entire proceeding from the outset,” Texas’ highest criminal court ruled. “As a result, little confidence can be placed in the fairness of the proceedings or the outcome of Applicant’s trial.”
