I'm seeing 30-31 pounds of boost topped out, 3/4 throttle it easily spools to 24 psi and gets the truck moving. I'm deleted and tuned so that helps a bunch. Took us 6 hours and a 30 pack to finish it. All my codes cleared the next day on their own. I tow regularly and it is a noticeable difference it how it pulls. Makes your load seem lighter ha! • @DieselPowerProducts
      @DieselPowerProducts  Před 3 lety +9

      Right on Timmy! Thanks for your input. We have not come across any longevity issues with these turbos. One thing to consider, is reason for failure. Depending on the truck and it's use, the turbo could possibly be miss diagnosed. There are tons of people running larger tires, stock gears, and hot tunes. Then they proceed to tow heavy, resulting in EGT's through the roof. Rather than finding the root of the issue (miss matched gears & tires) they go for more power. In this case the turbo was destined for failure, independent of the brand, etc.

    • @DieselPowerProducts
      @DieselPowerProducts  Před 3 lety

Depending on the kit used, you may end up needing some other random items. If you put the 2nd gen set up on your truck, and you have all your old parts still, you are basically there. I loved my cheetah fleece on my 6.7 cummins until about a month ago. My actuator went bad with not even 10k on the the turbo. Took it to a diesel shop they tested it said the turbo actuator was bad, an turbo was good. Fleece backed up there warranty because I'm still under two years. The shop did calibrate the new actuator for the turbo an truck still not running right. It's doing everything a bad actuator would do, it's over boosting, the turbo is whistling real loud ever since this has started, an under normal driving to get up to speed limit around 1500 to 2200rpms the truck is surging. No one can figer it out, turned into quite the headache.

      I did a data log an sent it to the tuner hopefully get some good new back, but ever since it's been doing this the transmission is shifting kinda goofy an it's shifting harder than normal under a load, between 1500 amn 2200 rpm in 1st 2nd an 3rd gear it seems like the engine is almost kinda surging but in hwy gears it acts fine. I talked to fleece the guy told me it could be a number of things wrong but if it's shifting differently ever since the issue, he said a bad turbo will not make an transmission act funny, an bad transmission will make a turbo act funny. It's got me thinking it could possibly be a transmission issue here.

    • @DieselPowerProducts
      @DieselPowerProducts  Před rokem +1

      I have no idea why these trucks ever came with 3.42's. Even with stock tires, the truck is still under geared. If you are using it hard, and have added more power, I would not be surprised if you have transmission issues. I would heavily consider going to a 3.73, or if you are going to a little larger tire, a 4.10. Giving that truck slightly better than stock mechanical advantage will do WONDERS to the power you can put to the ground and the longevity of your transmission.

      The Street option will have a smaller turbine compared to the larger turbine in the Race. A larger turbine will benefit those using the truck in a race type scenario, as a larger turbine is suited for larger injectors and a truck whose goal is to make more power on the top end (drag racing, sled pulling, etc). You would lose the factory style brake, as it is just using the vanes in the exhaust housing. If you wanted to reincorporate a brake onto the truck, you'd be doing a more traditional style exhaust brake, by way of a butterfly valve in the exhaust pipe with an air actuator. Something like this, from BD, would work PN: BD-1027344. This kit will come with the brake itself, and everything you need to install it. Neat thing about this particular kit form BD, it is designed to use the factory switches. So inside the cab, everything will appear, and function like factory. -Ben

      Fleece lift pum
      30% over injectors
      Intake
      Studded
      Pushrods
      Valve springs
      Striker injector pump
      Trans is from Revmax
      This thing should fly.
      No answers from fleece other than tuning is my problem
      But it’s set up from one of the best.
      I will have to swap to a second gen setup with a better turbo
      This one cannot get you to 700 for any money

      Whose tuning are you running? What is it currently making at the wheel on the dyno?

      I am with Fleece on this one. You have something else going on. I would try to figure out what the issue is before you completely change your set up, as it may still end up being an issue with a fixed vane. Could be the tuning. Could be something else. Have you sent this "top Cummins guy" any data logs? Are you monitoring lift pump pressure? Rail pressure? Boost? Drive pressure? What are all these reading during a hard pull? What size tires are on the truck?
