    I commented on one of your older videos about that rack, and you warned me then to stay away. I'm so glad you did. I just ordered my Gobi Stealth last week. I can't wait for it to get here.

      Gobi is a great product, I'm sure it will be 100x better than Victory 4x4

    I was just about to pull the trigger on a V4x4 rack, but I was worried about mounting my OVS 270 to it since the crossbars dont mount flush with the side rails. I stumbled on to this video and Im glad I did. What I appreciate the most, is that you spent time discussing and comparing the difference between the two racks. Most people would just talk about it and not compare side to side. The discussion about load transfers is particularly important. You are completely correct in that having such a load bearing completly on 2 ~6m bolts is frightening. My awning uses a 3/8" thick steel bracket and 3/8" bolts just for ~40-50 lbs, a rooftop tent should require at least that.

      Thank you so much for watching! I learned the hard way and it cost me $1200 to make that mistake. I don’t want anyone else making the same mistake I did.

    A bought two knock off racks so far. One for my van and one for my 4Runner. They have lasted numerous trips and cost much less than the "popular" racks. Neither of these racks needed to use any holes on the roofs. Another plus is that if I ever want to sell the vehicles without the racks, no problems. Nothing will ever show that there was ever a rack on the vehicles.

    Good timing. I was just reading a comment last night on Victory’s YT channel for that exact rack. Someone asked them about the load rating and their answer was condescending and political. I appreciate you pointing out the bad engineering on this rack. I had their bed rack on my Tundra a few years ago for my Tepui Autana RTT and it was okay. I almost bought the Sequoia rack until I saw this video and your other one about it. What’s your thoughts on the AL Offroad rack? Tandem Offroad runs that one. It uses the same approach to the roof attachments, although I’m not sure about the AL Offroad rack’s split sidepieces. Maybe they do that for shipping costs.

    • @CoolGuyClub
      @CoolGuyClub  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I actually reached out to AL off-road for the product to include in this video and they didn’t respond. I wish they did because I haven’t seen any information on their mount design or assembly. I’ve just seen photos of the racks on their rigs

    The Sherpa for my Tacoma is due to arrive any day...can't wait. I really like how you installed the supports first, then assembled the rack on the roof. Makes so much more sense than other assembly videos I've seen where the OP assembles the rack separately, then mounts it.

    One word: Sherpa. I had a Prinsu on our 5th Gen 4runner and it was a POS- rusty hardware, crappy threads, no adjustability. Spent the money for a Sherpa and it was a million times better than the Prinsu- thicker material, more adjustable, no need for silicone. You get what you pay for. Sherpa may be a little bit more money, but it's worth every penny.

    Alright Cool Guy, I need a major favor from you. I have recently purchased the Sherpa Harvard for my Sequoia. BUT, I think they sent me the wrong side rails. Can you measure the length or your rack for me? The side rails they have sent me are around 91" long and online it says product dimensions are 100.5" x 53.5". It looks stupid short when I hold it up to the truck. Can you confirm the length of your side rails for me?
    Also, a second random favor...Can you measure the distance from the rear lip between the roof and the lift gate to the rear edge to the mount that attaches the rack to the roof? Hopefully that makes sense.
    P.S. love all the Sequoia content on your channel!

    • @CoolGuyClub
      @CoolGuyClub  Před 2 měsíci

      I got you covered. The side rails on my rig are exactly 100 inches long tip to tail.

    Love your videos and respect your opion. What are your thoughts on the frontrunner roof rack? Ive already got their frontrunner packs so i thought it would make sense to pair it with the roof rack but dont want trash quality like the victory.

    • @CoolGuyClub
      @CoolGuyClub  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I wish I knew more about the way front runner secures to the vehicle. I will say that they are all about making their accessories modular with their rack system and that’s a huge plus.

  • @blessedohanaoverland

    • @blessedohanaoverland

    • @CoolGuyClub
      @CoolGuyClub  Před 11 měsíci +2

      It can but it has to be very light the factory rack has a load limit of 150 lbs. there are some companies that make upgraded crossbars for the factory rack that could increase the load limit
