  • This unique and innovative product from Bright Tangerine takes the hassle out of mounting an electronic viewfinder. Is it worth the high price? I'll show how I would use it and compare it to a much more affordable solution.

    Interesting. I'm usually a big fan of Bright Tangerine's products. Both for build quality and functionality. However, I'm not a huge fan of that mounting solution. It kind of takes away my ability to use motors easily on my top rod.
    I've recently picked up the Nitze EVF Mount and have been pleasantly surprised. It has all the same functionality, but mounts horizontally on one rod and the rosette mount uses friction for the rotation. It actually seems like a good solution for your setup. I haven't had mine slip and the friction mount is really convenient.

      I have some hardware that does something very similar to the Nitze. It works pretty well. I really wanted to like the Axl, but the lack of a really quick rotate thing is what held me back. And the price 😬

    Wow that’s great stuff, thanks for making this video! I’ve been searching the whole week for someone to make sense of the RED Komodo‘s shoulder mount with EVF need.

    thanks for the review. agree about the length of the bar jutting out (though seems like that might be helpful for a left eye shooter). I do think you can adjust the orange tension knob though to more quickly adjust the Evf then even the rosette piece you are using. That is, if you don't tighten it completely, and leave it slightly loose it'll work kind of like a fluid head.... which to me is way faster than the push button type thing (unless you really need your evf position to be rock solid - which I personally find a deterrent... I like being able to shift the Evf position just using my head/eye point of contact) . The best version for me is the Arri evf mount or maybe wooden camera air evf mount... those use a 19mm rod as the cross part and have zero twist/play

      I’ve been happy using the rosette piece I have, but maybe the idea you have would work. I have to check out the ARRI and Wooden Camera mounts

    Much appreciated. Thank you. Non sequitur but that nice BT eyepiece arm is -- in no way connected to this upcoming tangent -- but led me to think of the BM Ursa Mini Pro G2 eyepiece, don't ask. Although, I ask: did you ever use the BMUMPG2? If so, any thoughts you could share? On the eyepiece, the cam, ftg., etc. (yay, tangents.)

      I’ve only used the BM pocket cameras, not the Ursas. They are quite large and wouldn’t work as well for me. If BM made a camera with a compact cube shape I might actually use it.

      Flannel Ninja Tech Thank you. Yeah, it's so curious that they haven't done it yet. Perhaps it's in the works. They could get in that Komodo, C70, ZC form factor space and wreak havoc. Perhaps they'll release an 8K something in there.
      The G2 Ursa produces some gorgeous ftg but its ff has to be handled to be appreciated operator-wise. It appears in most builds as antiquated tank but it's not bad ergowise, especially on the shoulder.

    What is your vmount adapter? Thanks

    • @FlannelNinjaTech
      @FlannelNinjaTech  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s a SmallRig mount that never went into production. I think they only made a few. It just holds the battery. It doesn’t have any electrical contacts. I had it on my F6 because my Nitze mount was on the S6G.

      @@FlannelNinjaTech got it thank you. Currently running the Tilta Sony L- Vmount adapter. Alone it’s not reliable enough to be anything more than a vmount battery holder like yours. Run a Ptap to the vmount Dtap, and into the dual 12v Lemo on the E2, it does allow me to hot swap the vmount battery.
      Hoping yours also ran power. Thanks!

      E careful with the Tilta since it puts a lot of weight on the tiny plastic mounts. Too many people have broken theirs.
      I recommend the Nitze universal mount. You can attach a v-mount plate of your choice and it’s solid.
