Thanks man I’m sold. Last weekend my Thule T2 let go randomly of my girlfriend’s bike as we travelled down route 95. I looked back and it was there and then looked back again bike had disappeared. The only thing that held it there was the strap on the back wheel. Cost me over $250.00 in parts to fix her bike which it could have been worse. I like how this holds both wheel all the way around, and USA made out of what looks aluminum and metal. Thanks again

Don’t run a One Up through a car wash. Up or down. If it’s touch-less ok. If it has those scrubbers and hanging cloth things that move back and forth, it will get caught and damage the rack. It happened to me. Other than that great review. Thanks.

Those hold down arms will get in the way of a ramp for loading heavier e-bikes. They have to be undone and hinged down on the ground to use the ramp. This carrier is really better suited for regular mountain bikes with no rear fender.

1 UP makes a lock that goes through the holes of those brackets & through the wheels similar to a locking hitch pin. Simple & not dealing with a couple feet of rigid twisty cable.

Just got mine yesterday. The double heavy duty or whatever it is. I'm impressed. Somewhat concerned about the rear fender coming so far down the tire. I will have to use a strap to keep the rear tire from bouncing up, possibly dislodging itself from the 3 o'clock position of the 'grabber'. I've heard of modification of the rear fender.

Really good video, thanks. I have the 1Up Single Bike Heavy duty rack. Putting it together, installing it on the back of my truck was simple. I tightened everything up with the special tightening wrench that accompanied the rack, but found that after only half dozen trips, each of which was less than 30 miles, there was significant wobbling in the rack. I needed to use the enclosed wrench to tighten it up again. Not a big deal, but I hope that doesn’t become a recurrent issue.

    • @YewtBoot

We like our 1Up Bike Rack, it carries two Rad Mine Step Through Bike (20 Inch Tires) on the back of a Sprinter. Note, we did have to modify the Rear Fenders by shortening them 10 Inches, they still look good. Also, we installed 1/8 thick plastic spaces on each side of the Upright Tires Holders on each side, which added 1/4 to the overall width where the Tires go through the Brackets. We will also be adding a Light Bar, probably 1Up assy.

Nice review, and I agree with you on 1up being one of the greatest bike rakes on the market. One thing you mention was using wd40 to lube the pivot points, may I suggest that you use a silicone spray for this. That is what I use and it works great. The problem that I find using wd40 is that it is a "wet" solvent/lubricant and it will attract dirt and dust. Using a silicone spray will dry and still offer a smooth operation.
Along with the 1Up rack I also purchased the RakAttach for my Jeep Wrangler since I have swing door, best add on I have purchased.

    • @noldia

The wheel locks are okay but I believe they could be quickly broken off with a pipe. I use a cable as described here for when we're out riding along with the wheel locks, both of these are easily removed with the right tools but are still better than nothing when making quick stops. When we travel we have our bikes with us and I use one of those Kryptonite chains, definitely harder to cut thru quickly.

Trust me, you will have to modify your Rear Fender. We have two Rad Mini, Step Through with 20 Inch tires and found that it was necessary to cut 10 inches off the overall length so the Hold Down Roller would put the right amount of pressure on the tire. Note: Remove the fender and cut the 10 Inches off the Chain Cut Out portion of the fender, this will maintain the Flared Finished End of the fender to keep the factory look!!

In Ohio, the BMV will issue a duplicate Lic Plate for situations like this. Before this was available we simply took our Rear Plate and had it copied on an piece of aluminum that the Sign Shop had for this purpose, it cheaper and faster than the BMV! On our Sprinter, I will be adding a Rear Light Bar that will incorporate the Stop/Tail Lights, Back Up Lights as well as the Lic Plate Bracket/Light. The plan is to have the Light Bar rotate, so it can be seen when the Bike Rack is in the Up/Down position. Of course the all the lights will be LEDs, and the Back Up Lights will be High Powered to improve visibility at night.

In your opinion how beefy does the rack seem? Just looking at the rack looks like the 50lb limit Is for liability reasons. I can only run a class 1 hitch and top out at 200lb tongue rating. This rack plus a 60ish lb ebike are well under that limit. Obviously I'd be ignoring the manufacturers recommendation but do you think it's enough for a 60-65lb ebike?
