  • Cycling, Commuting Review: A quick review of my Momentum Transend Ebike. I haven't had any issues in 3 months. I will provide updates should I run into any issues.
    Currently down to one other bike my Trek Domane.

    Thanks Tyler, exactly the help I was looking for. Sounds like good value. One can upgrade tires and shifters too. good luck.

      Thanks for the feedback. I think it’s one of the better values for ebikes within Canada currently. Cheers

    Thanks for posting your review. The lack of integrated lights feels like the manufacturer is cutting corners.

    Have this e-bike put 1700 US miles on it, range for me has been 30 miles pretty consistently. Thinking of a more dual purpose tire to occasionally ride in dirt. Maybe in a air shock front fork . Weight isn’t an issue but the pounding on the wrists are a concern. I have a more softer seat with springs, that was a must from the start. Same back rack and a similar rear bag and water bottle bottle on the frame.

    Hi Tyler, thanks for making this video - I might have a very similar use case so this bike is on my shortlist. Would you be able to add any update with comments after owning for a bit longer term, if you have been able to use this for commuting, has it been going well or have you had any issue with it?
    cheers

    Thanks for the quick, yet concise review, much easier to swallow than the typical, maddeningly-long, 20 - 30+ minute reviews elsewhere. One question remains for me, living in a 3rd floor apartment: does this (Yamaha) motor offer "walk assist," and, if yes, how well does it perform walking the bike up stairs?

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Ken, I don't recall reading anything regarding walk assist. I did go out and try to engage it with the few available buttons but wasn't able to make anything happen. I'll try to track down the user manual and see if I missed something but I am assuming it is not present at this time.

      The walk assist on mine has a special combinations of commands to keep the bike from just taking off. Like I hit the walk assist button then, I press the up power button,,, it doesn't caught me off guard

    Sweet bike. I have a full suspension ebike, but these cruisers look awesome.

    Hey Tyler, wondering if you have been able to test the range of the battery since the video? also wondering your thoughts on the internal gears?
    Thanks!

      Hey and also, does the assist stop after 32klm?
      P.S. thanks for this Video, till this day there is not alot of user info on this bike.
      Cheers,

      Hey Howard, I will test this. I can say so far the battery has been great. I use it fairly sparingly though. I would be comfortable taking it on a 70-80km ride but in general its a commuter. I’ll put my bike computer on it and try and get some metrics for you including the speed for the assist. The internal gears was a big question for me, they have held up really well and rarely cause issue. I’ve had no failures but I am really waiting to see how they perform over the winter. So much of this bike is an unknown but still so far so good.

    Hello, what would you say your average speed you travel is when using assist mode? Can it do around 20 mph in hilly conditions with a good amount of pedaling?

    Thanks for this. Just what I needed to know. Any chance you could tell me what rear rack that is?

    Great video. Just got the same exact bike last week. Third day riding. The bike’s gear feels like it’s skipping the chain and keeps making gear change noises. It does this motor on or off. I’m about to take it to the shop. Chain is not loose and the circular peddling is not as smooth as day one. Any similar issues?

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  Před rokem

      Congrats on the bike. I didn't run into this issue whatsoever. Does it still occur equally shifting under load vs. unloaded? I'm fairly confident your LBS should remedy the issue. Mine was very smooth.

    Mine is a momentum vida E+, I like the power being am a older adult, not that I need the power, but I got one for my wife too and she doesn't have the strength, she new at riding and it pulls her up any hill pretty good. Moms happy I'm happy. One more thing, I wanted more power, but it would no fun if I just ran off and left my riding partner. It puts on a even Keel

      The vida E+ is great I’m glad you’re enjoying it. E bikes are an amazing way to keep active especially as people age. I’ve been considering getting my girlfriend one for some leisurely rides around town in the warmer months.

    It looks like you need to tighten up your chain a bit.

    Is it possible to charge the battery while it's removed?

    • @tylerkacsor
      @tylerkacsor  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Shawn, Thanks for the question. I had to find my accessories package and it does contain an adaptor to charge the battery off of the bike. I’ll be doing this throughout the winter no doubt.
