When I was deep in my depression I wouldn't sleep at all. I'd just wait for sleep to come, many times id be awake till the sun came up
Show em how it's done! There's such a weird misconception that you have to spend ages on hair or if you use greases, butters, etc then you must have 10 hr wash days. Friday I showered, washed my hair, detangled, and blowdried my hair in 65min and that's including being distracted lol.
Not with 4b hair and ADD you didn’t!!! 😅
🤣😂😅
Well like he said everyone is different. Some people it does take time to navigate all that
me 20 clipped-up sections, detangler and a tangle teezer and Netflix. detangled, twisted done in one episode. I don't even detangle during the shampoo.
65 min-1 hr is not a short amount of time though and I think you have to also consider hair type how many steps is in a persons wash routine and styling
What you said about finger detangling not quite getting rid of all the shed hair rings true to me! I was wondering why my fine hair was webbing so much at the root after being left alone (plaited) for 2-3 days. Once I started adding regular (gentle) brushing to my routine, this eased up a whole lot.
What kind of brush?
I have hair like this. A LOT of hair and very fine strands. Plus I have a big head. So a lot of daily shedding. Finger detangling is a must for me. Hair like this really just needs to be de-shed and separated (exactly how Narada is doing) often, and it will be great.
She is lucky to have a stylist like him. I’m afraid to go to a salon because I know most don’t know how to properly handle hair like this.
Yes! I've just learned in the past 2 years that my natural hair is not hard at all to take of. I love it over here in my 1 hour wash and style days.
I love her curls! What helps me detangle is I keep a shower cap on the part I didn't get to yet so the dampness doesn't dry out, the head heat also helps keep it soft. Makes it a lot easier.
As long as I keep my hair clipped up in sections it doesn't dry out.
Shoot, I wish I was in GA to get an appointment with you! It's been over 10 years since I big chopped and went natural, and I've been doing my own 4c hair ever since. After all these years, you're the *ONE STYLIST* I would trust with my hair 😭
Me too! I haven’t let someone else touch my 4b/c hair in over 6 years because I don’t trust people to not be rough 😂
Me too!!
Not folks beating up people heads! 😂 I used to wonder if I was tender headed and I was like nah it’s the stylist. My hair strands are fine and I need to pull my hair apart in sections too if I don’t do the pre-poo work.
This was both relaxing and educational as always!
Came back to say ticklin the booty cheeks! 😆😆 yes girl shut up lol
I pre-poo to make the whole process easier...But I pre-poo with a detangling product for 30 minutes while I do some life admin, laundry or chores. Then I run the wide tooth seamless combe throw it. When I shampoo I keep my head tilted back and run my fingers the same way Narada did. Too many people bunch up their strands while shampooing...never do that because like he said if you are one of those with the cuticle that likes to web you will be in a whole world of trouble.
I had stylists do my hair and brushed from the scalp down and pulled and was rough without detangling. It hurt so I never went back. Love how you take your time to detangle.
Yeah avoid stylist like that. My stylist and my trichologists do not comb from the scalp. you cannot do that with curly hair.
remember having that with a blow dry at salon - 'stylist' had an expression on her like she'd been sucking lemons - last salon visit there... not good.
You got me. I only finger detangle my hair. I get intimidated by tools. My strands are very fine 😅. I'm glad I did see this video, though. I tried your detangling method, and it worked but...I thought I was doing something wrong since there was more hair in the brush, lol. So I just quit afterward. After watching this video, it makes sense now. Those are hairs I just missed 😭
me2! I only finger detangle my fine dense strands. Believe me I tried once to detangle with brush and threw it on the floor. I'm thinking to myself how do these ladies detangle with a brush??am I missing something? I just can't do it because I need all my strands. Now that I have a better understanding of how to detangle with a tool (still won't do it) I will file this info away maybe for another time. I truly admire how he takes his time and treats her hair with respect and care. Hopefully, one day I can see myself going back into the salon and feeling safe.
Hugs. I have ultra-fine hair. I detangle weekly and keep my hair stretched. I use a seamless wide tooth comb with a detangling pre-poo to start. Then I use a detangling shampoo and deep condtioner and use fingers and the seamless wide tooth comb again. After I use 20 sectioning clips with leave in detangler on damp hair and go through section by section with a medium toothed seamless comb and as my hair is getting longer. Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush. On episode of Netflix and it's done and twisted. Yeah my hair you can't feel the strand in between you fingers so I always new that finger detangling alone for me was out.
@@michelleeja412 I can use a comb or brush but I use seamless combs ( wide, medium and small) and the Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush on damp, shampooed, deep-conditioned hair in 20-section clips and an episode of Netflix with drinks and snacks. I keep my hair stretched and avoid it shrinking and drying out. I detangle weekly..... I remember when I detangled every 12 weeks after braids...yes it did take the whole damned day then. Lol! To put in the braids and to take down the braids. So glad I don't do this anymore I have so much more time!
Oh yeah I have fine hair too and I had to learn that only finger detangling was not working. It freaks me out to see all that hair in the brush, but it was already shed and only a brush can get it out.
Hair My end were trash with finger detangling. You can't feel my individual strands between my fingers so how you are going to feel to remove them, And I'm high density too! Sis is not trying to feel for ten thousand fine hairs of which 700 are shed.
This is so beautiful! Her hair is so gorgeous and healthy 😍This made me so happy to see my texture being handled with such ease and care. This gives me confidence to continue my journey. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
I love how you mentioned your method of removing single strand knots and tangles but pulling the hairs up and out carefully. That is definitely key! And what you said about long hair is so true. Long hair is not for the weak, it takes A LOT of work, consistency and patience. I feel you on that. Thank you for sharing, I love to see it 😍
My daughter has thick high porosity hair. The only thing that help detangle her hair is Aphogee keratin & green tea restructuring spray. It works like a charm
Hmm, I have this product, I need to revisit it. Thanks for the reminder.
um.....For me if it doesn't have detangling on the product, I don't use it for detangling. I have the Aphogee keratin & green tea restructuring spray but I never use it for detangling.
My daughter has very thick hair and we detangle with Aunt Jackie's Knot On My Watch Dentagler which is a Holy Grail!!!😊
This lady has my exact hair and the way you're treating her hair is how I do mine and why I rarely go to hairdresser most don't understand fine hair.
I spend 30-45 mins to shampoo, conditioning and taking my bath.
I don't detangle in the bathroom rather, I detangle before styling and my styling is between 1½-3 hours; the former is for wash-n-go and the latter for twaid.
This also includes distractions from hubby and children.
Glad I watched this video because I’ve been feeling like a failure on my 6 -7 hour wash days. Looking at your clients hair it appears she and I have similar strands and density (at least in the middle sides, and back). I now know I just need to see a professional because standing in the shower, and doing the process you did at the shampoo bowl, takes me forever. 😭 The water in the shower gets cold and my arms/ shoulders start to hurt😢. Not to mention then moving to the chair (outside the shower) and further detangling. 😭😩 I take so many breaks that the wash, condition, detangle process ends up being 3-4 hours minimum. Sad I know 😭😭😭. So Yeh…lemme just make an appt. 🤦🏽♀️
Use clips to section your hair in 4. It’s a small thing but makes a world of difference!
I never detangle in the shower or during shampoo. I pre-poo during chores for 30 minutes. then I run a wide tooth comb through it. then I after I deep condtion, I detangle with a tangle teezer, 20 clips and a detangler, food, snacks and Netflix. Detangled, moisturised and styled in one episode. People be making this stuff too hard.
I totally understand wanting to book an appointment. Just be sure that the "natural hair stylist" knows how to care for natural hair. The reason I follow him is because he is very well versed in caring for curly/coily/kinky hair in its natural state. A lot of natural hair stylists want to use heat before dealing with hair. Or they don't detangle. Just take your time and be patient to find the right stylists.
To me it doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as your doing it on a day you have the time to do it and your not having to rush through it and it works for you and gets your hair how you want it, I get not everyone has that much time to spend on their hair but 1hr ain’t that short of time either so what’s a few more hours if that’s what you need for you to do your hair, it’s a major pain in the a** but whadaya gonna do unless you go shaved buzz cut or pixie
Great video. I love watching you shampoo and detangle natural hair. As someone with very fine strands and medium to high density hair, I can say I used to always experience tangles at the root. But after implementing a few tips that you gave, such as opening the hair up during shampooing, adding more water to thick conditioners and squeezing excess conditioner out, finger detangling the right way and smoothing. I don't experience tangles at the roots anymore, just pretty much my ends. Also, I tend to stretch my hair the day before I wash it. I believe all the tips definitely prevent the tangling at the roots
I keep my hair stretched either in twists on french braids or using a strong hold product to keep the hair stretched and in formation.
I truly appreciate you doing this in real time bcuz my hair tangles just like that and its much longer than her's nd it takes me 2hrs or more nd I'm not a professional but I had to learn by trial nd error. I love my denim paddle brush nd it has made it so much easier; this why I do my own hair bcuz the density, tight curls, tangling nd just being tender headed a lone; so I do understand the cost nd with patience nd professionalism price would be worth it. 🙏💞👍
I use the Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush. My hair is ultra-fine to the point that the trichologists told me that the friction from long term tight braids was causing minuscule fractures in my strands. You can only see this under a trichoscope. I found that the Denman brushes didn't have enough flex but the tangle teezer has enough flex in the bristles and gets every single shed hair out.
Her hair pattern is so beautiful! So defined and hydrated!
Thank you for this video!! This is my hair exactly except not as dense. Fine strands with A LOT of elasticity and shed hair that wraps around the other strands that are still attached. Keeping my hair stretched out while detangling is the only way I can do it effectively. I envy those people who can run a brush or comb through their hair from root to tip without holding the section the entire time. I used to detangle before, during and after washing. It was way too much and it made me neglect my hair more because I didn't want to do all that detangling. I considered chopping all my hair off several times but I knew that wouldn't solve my problem. HOW DO I WASH MY HAIR? Thank you for all of your videos and willingness to answer questions honestly and saying you don't know instead of making something up. 🥰🥰
I use a wide toothcomb with my pre-poo and then shampoo. Then after deep condition, I detangle with a wet tangle teezer, detangling spray , 20 sectioning clips and snack, drinks and Netflix. One episode, detangled, moisturised and styled.
I really love these types of videos where you talk through it and explain things ! Very informative.
I watched your entire video. You really helped me learn who to wash and detangle my son's hair! I❤ your technique. I just hit that subscribe button.
Awesome I'm so glad! Thank you for watching and welcome to the Afro Tribe!
@@AfrikanHairGod sorry for typo! How not who🤦🏾♀️
Narada, I have a lot of respect for you and your expertise!!! I enjoyed all 1 hour and 5 minutes and the style was beautiful as expected! The video was so informative that I paused it and went to wash my hair using a lot of the gems you dropped and had the shortest and best cleansing, conditioning and detangling session ever. I would feel privileged to sit in your chair one day. Continue to show them how it's done!!! Love you!!!
I so appreciate you taking the time to out these videos together for us. It’s invaluable info which will naturals for years and years to come! ❤❤
Excellent video!!! I love how gently you detangle your clients hair. Thanks for describing the fine strands, opening the hair strands up and smoothing. This is the same way I finger detangle my fine, medium density hair. That shed hair definitely contributes to breakage when it's not removed. Thanks Narada! Love your videos!!!
"You want your hair tickling your booty cheeks?" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I take care of my hair and my husbands. I feel like we’ve reached a point where our hair grows and stops, I’ve learned a lot of the reasons why this is just by watching your videos thank you!!
I’ve learned so much from this one video. Color me impressed.
Thank you for checking out my channel. I'm glad you were able to learn!
Me too
Such positive vibes here! 🥰 I really don’t understand how wash days can be 4-6 hours when hair isn’t even waist length or something to give a reason these days. I wonder is it the detangling or what takes so much time? 2hours of deep conditioning🤷🏾♀️
I had to come back and comment how I enjoyed watching the entire video! So much love for this kind of hair feels amazing! And your tips are amazing!
It's the detailing especially if you get 100s of knots. That was the case for me anyway
@@SE-gs6gd I avoid getting my hair into knots. I keep my hair stretched and detangle every week. The longer you wait to detangle and the more you let the hair shrink without the product the more knots you will have.
For me it's the detangling, but that's mainly because I don't comb/detangle often. It's a trade off.
Im 2 years into seriously caring for my hair wearing wash and gos. Take an hour for everything. 1 hour every four days.
Thank you for the information as always!!
I have thee same texture and I find that keeping my ends trimmed cuts down on the detangling process. A conditioner with good slip is a MUST. Good work god!
Thank you! We find that we only need to trim her hair once a year and only a dusting is needed. I think it's because I'm careful with detangling and we keep her hair confined. czcams.com/video/amiEsyW5cv8/video.htmlsi=ato5NQ2QtOdsiYY0
Very helpful information! Thank you!!
Right on time! Already shared it ❤️
I love watching your videos.
Love your technique ❤❤
Thanks for this video!! I've learned so much from you!!
Phenomenal job and informative!
So pretty!! Great job! Thanks for sharing!!
So beautiful hair came out great❤️❤️❤️
Gorgeous! Great work, beautiful style.
I like his voice and candor. Very relaxing 😌
This video was relaxing
You compelled me to leave my bed in the middle of the night to wash my hair.
I hollered when you said our heads been beatin' up on🤣🤣 I love the time & care you take💜💜💜
I know you get tips💰 all day long. The reason I say that because I watch you you are so meticulous gentle and careful to not pop break and snag the hair. That is priceless because that is your length retention right there.❤
Hey hair is BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks so much for this!
You are a gem and a half! I love to see you in action!
This is why I locked my hair. Its dense but the strands are fine. I would get so many single strand knots when I'd wash it. Plus my hair would grow very fast and shed so i had breakage but the density would camouflage alot of it. It was just super frustrating trying to deal with that.
Thank you for leaving the entire video intact. I am learnig a lot.
You explain very well. You are awesome
this was so refreshing. i didnt know paddle brushes could work on my hair. thx, i learned alot.
Thank you for the voiceover. I found this video relaxing.
Real time is what I need to see. This video has been a AHGod send to me. Thank you 😊
Thank you, thank you! All the bad habits you brought up I was "taught" to do. I couldn't figure out why my hair was rebeling and was about to loc it out of desperation but you have given me hope I can learn how to do the "basics" AND learn to pick a good stylist!!!
Love your knowledge and appreciated greatly!!❤ Love you energy…Thanks!
You are so welcome
I left a comment on the video that led me here and I DAMAGED MY OWN HAIR WITH HEAT FROM A BLOW DRYER. It was SO bad that I had to BIG CHOP AGAIN! I'm 100% behind you. I don't need any study, I don't need words of professionals because my own personal experience is evidence enough to refuse to sit in the chair of a stylist who "blow dries all clients hair." I wouldn't use her.
Hugs. My stylist blow dries my hair......with a DIFUSSER and keeps my tight ass curls! I swear the Afro pick attachment is like the devil for my hair. lol! Just laughed because Narada said the same thing before I got to that section of the video.
@@marleyhill34 I haven't used the afro pic in ages. My hair has gotten so long and I don't color it anymore. I'm trying to see if it's any healthier completely natural. I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm my own new baby lol.
@@q.t.gamingfamily if you watch a lot of Narada's videos you will soon figure out what to do. His is the only youtube cosmetologist that works exclusively with natural styles.
😮 what a beautiful hair you’ve done love your patience and time .
Wishes you do my hair pamper me lol
Thank you for sharing
From St. Louis Missouri ❤
I love how healthy it looks. It has a nice shine! I need to come see you!
Your voiceover is so funny!!! 😂it was the with the lil 50 strands of hair u got for me. Lol😂. Then the “I’m just gon let the music play” lol.
Oh yes!! That turned out beautiful! Show them how a real natural hair stylist does it my friend!!😊😎
A million thank yous! This helped me feel more confident and trust that I knew I was doing things the correct way no matter how much the client complains about time! I also need to start charging way more!❤
Omfg I have two bilingual daughters and I'm black black it takes me 456+ hours to do 1 head a piece absolutely no exaggeration I really hope I spelled that right but it only took me an hr and half maybe two to wash condition and plat my 3 inch fraken hair so thank you for tagging on time to teach ya girl I appreciate you 💗💗💗
Thank you for this walk through, I love it, wish I could find your shop and get an appointment. I'm looking for a master hair care consultant such as yourself. I recently learned how to wash my hair in under 1 hour. The thing that takes the longest is the conditioning process plus I use a rinse. In doing a deep conditioning the wait time takes the longest. Thank you for helping us understand.
Beautiful hair! A pleasure to watch.
I love hearing you speak about hair and theory! Very knowledgeable great job
Thank you for watching!
Thank you. Great tips and techniques as always. Her hair is beautiful. 🥰🥰🥰
Wow...that hairstyle is gorgeous. I love updos.
I love the long videos! It's so soothing and I'm learning how to be patient with my hair. Thank you! I'm making my appt asap!
Hi AFG, you don’t have to chop up the video. I love watching you work. You have true talent. Some folk want the cheapy cheap price.
Omg I LOVE u & ur knowledge & talent with hair! Ur videos r very informative! ❤
Thank you so much!!
This client's hair looks so beautiful and healthy.
Great water pressure!! It's one of the key parts of a good shampoo
I would totally go to your natural hair school if you had one. ❤
I usually do a hot oil treatment the night before so when I go to shampoo, I’ve taken out a lot of tangles already.
I recently saw a stylist and took her advice along with yours. I’m so much happier following a simple, common sense, routine. I was like, let me listen to people who have been doing this for years and went to school for it. So glad I humbled myself 🙂 the internet is a wealth of knowledge but can have me feeling like I already know it all.
You’re making me sleepy the way you’re detangling her hair asmr vibes💕💕💕💕💯💯
You take great care over natural hair, wish I lived in the US. Glad I saw this because I have similar hair and it is nice to see it being complemented, fine but a lot and a lot to deal with. Have you used a revair on type 4 for blowouts, just wondered as I am considering one.
Her hair style is nice and you did a really good job. Her hair quality looks a little frizzy, I'm comparing it to my son's hair when I complete it. The strands are smooth without any fraying. He has about the exact same hair quality. I just wash, condition and rectangle as I re-twist. It doesn't take me that long at all. There is very little hair loss. I guess my choice of products work very well on his hair. (4c)
I find that detangling with a slip conditioner before shampooing helps a lot with this process.
If it doesn't have detangling written on the product/tool then I don't use it to detangle.
Yes I did that on my last wash day and I loved it. It made things much easier and I have very thick long 4c hair. I used a kids conditioner 😁
@@marleyhill34 conditioner by nature has for function detangling, why will they have that written ?
@@Carameldamour Yeah a lot of conditioners do not have enough detangling properties aka slip to get through my hair.
This voice over had me dying. Lmao. Thar end style was 🔥
Thank you for keeping the vid full time you are very entertaining and knowledgeable I learned a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Narada! This lady's hair is quite similar to mine. I just have less hair strands. Learned some things. Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
Thank you!❤
Her hair is so coily i love it
Hey @Afrikanhairgod I love your content and Iove how you educate people on actual what a real natural hair stylist is and you how to handle
texture ,curly, Coli, kinky, wavy hair keep educating me I am loving it you are truly talented I live in Houston texas do you know of anyone in Houston texas you can recommend me to that does natural hair like you do ? so far you one of the best I've seen 💯😍❣
I've probably been a subscriber for nearly a decade. I will always Rep Narada because he has been doing hair for nearly 20 years or more now!!
My insomnia gets worse when I fast the only thing that helps is real meditation which is so hard for me now I just be up lol good luck if you find something let me know 😅
I love this video! 😊 I never understood why people get caught up on the time it takes to complete a wash day--I personally stopped worrying about the time and focus more on my hair and scalp health. I’m going to be honest- sometimes it takes me 3 hours to complete a full wash day while sometimes it takes me 5 hours to complete a wash day depending on my mood and how well I organized it. However, my hair is thick, coarse and mid back length and when I go through it with the shampoo and conditioner I treat it like fine silk, I take my time working in 4 sections. I do my pre poo the day before wash day, so I wake up at 6am to rinse out my pre poo and begin my wash day and usually finish the wash day around 9:30am or 11am--like I mentioned before it all depends. I try to keep my styles simple banding and African threading my ends to keep them tucked away tie it all up in a bun and put on my hijab. My schedule works for me, people just need to make time that works for them--the last thing anybody should do is rush through their hair just to finish faster that’s counterproductive in my opinion.
"...when I go through it with shampoo and conditioner I treat it like fine silk." Yes!! My texture changed after having covid so I had to learn a new way to take care of it and I was so frustrated! Slowing down, treating it with reverence and tenderness worked wonders towards getting it healthy and happy again while also saving time and frustration in the long run.
The answer is a big fat YES ! I never understood people saying it would take hours to detangle. I always made a point to not stay long hours detangling and your tips trough the years as been helpful.
They use the wrong tools and the wrong techniques for their hair that's why it takes so long. I go to a stylist and 2 trichologists and they can all do my hair in under an hour and they do not even have the same curl pattern as me and they are three different races!
Her scalp looks amazing, and her hair too,
This is like looking at my daughter's same head of hair! Fine strands but thick density. These are great tips that will help me as she is sooo tender headed 😩😂
My eyes are glued! When he said u look under and see how thick the hair is I was like yes thats my girl! I am taking notes cos I want her to love her natural hair and she just doesn't because its been hard work. Less than one hour for that beautiful result? Yes pls sir
I have never laughed & learned so much!!! I have fine hair & little to meduim density & the strinkage is real!!!💜💜💜🤣🤣🤣🤣You are my new follow of the day!!!!
Mine as well. I learned from AFG if its dry add a little more water or leave in. 👍
Aww narada your eczema is spreading down your arms? Mine is inching around my whole hand now. Thank goodness is getting warms so I can get some relief.
Thanks for this video. My hair is extremely fine and high porosity. The strands wrap around each other tightly like hers. I never knew how to keep it from doing so. I will try your techniques.
Awesome video! I have a question. Do you think that natural hair care as a side hustle is a good idea? If so, do you have any specific advice? I've been doing my own hair in its natural state for a few years and I want to help people on their natural hair journey while making money💕 ❤
Yup, that pull back game is real, I can relate. This makes me want to try the d38 again, but it just didn’t work for me. My sister has even more pull back than me and she loves the d38 so I gave it to her. Any other brush suggestions?
I use the Tangle Teezer Fine and Fragile Wet Detangler Hairbrush. It's more narrow but I'm doing 20 sections when detangling. not wide sections because I know I need to be very thorough with my ultrafine strands.
The first step for me is a shampoo that also detangles. Camille Rose castor oil one is top tier. Sometimes I don't use conditioner. I use slippery gel product like uncle funky's or a gel cream. I do my hair every 2-4 days before it can get too tangled. I have thinnish hair and I keep it fairly short because I just don't have time for all dat. I sure dry. Takes me about 15 min to do my hair 👍🏾
My first step is not to let my hair get shrunken and too tangled in the first place. I keep it stretched and/or organised in formation with a heavy styling product and detangle it at least every 7-10 days. If it ever gets really bad, detangling pre-poo, detangling shampoo, moisturising deep conditioner, and always leave in detangler before any combs and brushes. I love that Narada keep that hair stretched!
Web Hair, that's mine.
I love that you wear gloves. I find that most stylists wear jewelry and my hair snags on it.
I wear gloves because doing hair actually damages my skin. I wouldn't do hair with any jewelry on for the comfort of my client
This was relaxing.....
