      Hello ! Thank you for you videos, they help a lot ! I have a few questions though, on how to use the products, if you don't mind 😊
      For the Aphogee leave-in, do you mix it with water or do you use it as it is ?
      And for the Softee grease, just to make sure, you do use it on the lenght of the hair right, not only the scalp ?
      Thank you in advance !
      You tips always help me a lot 🙏🏿🤗

    I prepoo mostly to detangle and remove shed hairs to have less tangling during the shampoo process..I do not use oils. I use a conditioner or a prepoo product or aloe gel from the aloe vera leaf. Now if I get added moisture from those products great.

      This is why I also pre-poo my hair. Especially after having braids in my hair for a long time. I have to detangle & get the buildup out. I use the bondbar brand’s pre-poo and it helps me at least get it into sections so that I can wash my hair properly. My place also has really harsh, hard water, so preparing my hair beforehand has helped me.

    Your blow drying technique is so relaxing to watch! As for pre-poo it's just a new name for hot oil or oil treatment, it seems like the natural hair, curly, and even straight hair community just keep putting new names on old things. Like you said less is more, too much won't do anything extra and just adds more time/shampoo. Also over oiling can be a pain in public, I remember going overboard one time in high school and had olive oil dripping down my neck in class, talk about EMBARRASSING lmao

    The reason you use Clarifying shampoo isn’t just to get the hair clean. Clarifying shampoos tend to have a high pH, lifting the cuticle, so that conditioning/strengthening agents can bind to the hair strand.

    • @AfrikanHairGod
      @AfrikanHairGod  Před rokem +8

      The ones that I use are gentle and don't have a high pH. The cuticles don't need to be lifted for conditioners to bind to hair. They will do that naturally due to the negative electromagnetic atmosphere of the strands with the positively charged cationic surfactants in conditioner. Even when you rinse conditioner out, a light film is left on the surface of the hair.

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 Před rokem

      my clarifying shampoo also chelates. I live in an area with hard water ( filters are no use) and I swim and live in an urban environment. So chlorine, minerals and pollution are the reason I use Paul Mitchell Shampoo three followed by my Aphoghee two-step once every 4 to 6 weeks. My hair is fine fragile and week and I had bleach bond highlights put in for summer.

    In my opinion, pre-pooing is just prepping your hair to be washed. You can use hair tea, oils, grease, treatments, etc. Washing the hair is so essential to resetting your hair but it’s still a highly manipulative process. And it’s an extenenius process for your hair (especially if you have low porosity). High amounts of water is being absorbed into the hair, lots of product, hands constantly in your hair. It’s a huge event so pre-pooing helps to prep my hair for it. I used to pre-poo with Blue Magic years ago but now I use hair tea and my own homemade infused oils. I still pre-poo with Blue Magic from time to time esp if I’m taking my hair down from protective styling like braids or faux locs.

    Then after the natural hair movement I tried massaging my scalp with oil and it didn't make sense to me 😂 'cause I would have to shampoo 3 times instead of 2 making me waste so much shampoo to get my natural oils + the added oils out of my hair. I stopped doing it altogether.

For the most part of I can’t put it in my body it doesn’t go on my skin or scalp 🤷🏾‍♀️ avocado oil and/or evoo used instead of lotion, only aloe Vera gel used for gel, acv mix for shampoo, etc
    I said FOR THE MOST PART y’all don’t freak out on me lol I do like shampoo although acv is pretty sufficient especially if you dont use products
    I do however also use man-made facial products bc my face is weird af and petty 🤷🏾‍♀️ 🤣😌

      do you steam your hair daily/weekly? Do you keep your ends tucked and/or covered? This was my trichologists prescription for dry hair in the UK. It works for me if I want to stop dryness in its tracks. Products help but it's more the method and technique for me.

    I pre-poo with the Just For Me or African Pride aloe detangler strictly to lightly detangle & separate my hair in sections before I shampoo. I have never understood why ppl pre-poo with oil personally (I tried it when I first went natural based on seeing ppl do it here on YT) but it took me two times to realize that was not good. If it works for you, I guess but that never worked for me.

      Oil is the GOAT for taking down braid extensions. When I didn't know better ( teenager, early 20s)I used to leave my braid extensions in for 10 to 12 weeks and nothing used to help me detangle like oil and yes a fine toothcomb...all that build up needs to come out before water and shampoo. Oil for weave glue too. Now i'm older I don't need to use oil any more for detangling and also new pre-poo products and braid and weave takedown sprays are available which they were not when I was younger.

    Nice video! Hey Narada in your experience when you say hair grease, can hair butters (like mango, shea butter etc) be used in place of traditional hair grease (like Dax, blue magic etc)? Thanks! ☺️

      @@shashagirl i would do research to see if the butter you are using is comedogenic. Grease literally can't clog your pores but there are many oils that can and that can potentially affect the health of your scalp. Why don't you just use grease instead?

    • @shashagirl
      @shashagirl Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@AfrikanHairGod thank you again Narada for your response, just noticed this. The reason I don’t want to use grease alone is because from what I have read, I don’t think grease has as many of the healthy fatty acids (that hair butters do) that could also support healthy hair maintenance and length retention. I mean I could use both grease and hair butters but like you always advise not to be too heavy handed so I just thought a good hair butter would suffice ☺️.
      Thanks again !

    I only use African pride pre poo because my hair tangles when I shampoo. I try to put it in twists and wash in twists. Perhaps I should just twist it and shampoo?

      I think to prep your hair to prevent tangling or removing shed hair is the only really reason to be doing a "pre-poo".

    Hello Mr. Afrikan Hair God! If you happen to see this comment I would greatly appreciate any sort of advice or suggestions you could give me on how to solve this hair problem I’ve been having for a few years. Ever since I stopped getting relaxers (which was about 4-5 years ago) my mother and I have noticed the right side of my hair has been noticeably shorter than my left side, and even though as the years go by and the right side is catching up to the left, it’s still shorter. I’m hoping as I grow older that both sides can even out, but I’m scared this is something I’ll have to live with for the rest of my life as a consequence of that relaxer. My hair is relatively healthy and is growing well, I’ve actually reached a hair length goal I’ve been wanting for a while so I’m extremely happy about that! Its just the right side’s length I’m worried about. Is there any special thing I should do, products or ingredients I should look for? I’m not really sure, and even as I’ve gotten my hair trimmed over the years this same problem remains consistent as my hair continues to grow. Again if you happen to reply to this I greatly appreciate your time and advice 😊 I’ve learned so much from your channel, thank you for the free tutorials and knowledge☺️
