Hey Randy. Just wanted to say that I love your videos. I really enjoy the walk arounds because you see cars that to most would look totally unfixable but all they need is a bunch of bolt on parts and they’d be good again. I dabble in fixing my own cars myself and your videos serve as inspiration to kind of test myself more and more and expand on what I can do. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year!

The Expedition had custom wheels and a system they removed when they got rid of the vehicle. The missing stereo was the tell. The dry rotted tires/wheels on it were bought used as something to put back on it to dump it.

Ill tell you why that Expedition has those dry tires, someone had some custom wheels alongside the head unit, and they left the original ones in storage. When they got rid of it, they took off those and replaced them with the stock ones, that after a while got dry rotted.
Also about that 135i, that is a good solid car, but those rims are not the rims of a 135. Im thinking it was crashed and someone was fixing it and gave up on it. The rear is indeed missing most of its parts, including the partition that has to be in place to separate cargo from the foldable roof.

    • @fatturtleking

WRX is the only interesting thing today and it needs a full rebuild. But with no shop this thing will be a yard decoration in short order.
Looking forward to the next car reveal vid.
Hopefully you are getting over your old Getman car phase and dumping the SL and that 3 series. But you did look at a Mini... If anything find another Volvo or a Saab. If you're keep on this euro bender mix in some Swedish meatballs with the bratwurst
Happy New Year and hope things keep trending up. Also more vette and Camaro stuff please!

Thomas Smith I loved the Festives and a great friend of mine owned a couple of them in my late teens in the mid 90s that we took a many of road trips in, one the exact same red as that one.
They were inexpensive, not particularly powerful but were a ton of fun. I’d love to find a decent one to buy just to have to drive and remember the good time. That one actually looked like a pretty nice one, too.
I’m glad you had great memories of it, too. There probably aren’t many people who remember the Festiva nowadays.
Here are some other interesting facts. It was originally sold as a Mazda 121 and Kia Pride (which I think was most closely related to the Festiva) and and Iranian manufacturer named Saipa sold them up until 2005!
I believe that our Ford Aspire, the replacement for the Festiva was also sold as a Festiva in other parts of the world.
Even Jay Leno owns one of the original Festivas, sort-of. It’s a highly-modified SHOGun with a Taurus SHO Yamaha V6 mounted in the rear, mated to a 5-speed with RWD. That’s a VERY cool Festiva!

The Caravan has the 62TE transmission - no dipstick from factory. Since the dipstick tube plug is missing, I'd bet it's there for a blown transmission. Dad had one of this era - trans blew at 144k kms. It would go into gear and make noise on certain gears, then finally it quit moving entirely. That engine is as close to bulletproof as Mopar gets.

Those Outbacks sell like hot cakes here in California and Nevada because of their off-road capabilities. They are solid cars. My 03 has 200k miles on in with no check engine. Good base models go for around 4-5k in that mileage. Since that has the moon roof, leather seats and updated radio it must be a limited. Those could sell up to 6k. Both front axels cost 120-180$ for both front axles. I’d try to see if the head gasket and timing was done if your still interested. I made a list of what need to be done at certain mileage starting from 100k:
80-120k - head gasket, timing belt, pully, idler, water pump.
120-140- possible steering pump leak, axle boot, possible airbag recall unless done, coolant and heater core flush also alternator.
140-180 -struts, ball joints, spark plugs, coil pack and accessories belt/refill ac.
180-200 - steering rack(possible leak) valve cover gasket, all lower controll arms, stabilizer, oil pan reseal, coolant hose, and coolant flush, heater core flush.

It was nice. Road like a dream. I wouldn't be concerned about the DVD player not working. Tell the kids to use their imagination. Everyone can look at the same screen and watch something different at the same time. Seriously though, the tires aren't a deal killer. Get a set of reasonable price tires. It'll still be a good family car.

2010 and earlier Mini Coopers have serious engine issues (timing chain guides, carbon build up on valves, etc.). 2011 and later Mini coopers have engine issues, but not as severe (carbon build up less severe, timing issues resolved). They'll still leak oil, and at least one major component will randomly fail after an oil change.
Ford 4.6L also has cam phasers.

Expedition was standard with the 4.6L Modular V-8 . The 5.4L triton 3 valve and the V-10 were optional equipment. I sold Fords from 1999-2004. I bet they had other rims and tires on it. SO the people kept the stock tires and put them back on it and traded it in.

    Randy,
On that white BMW, 2 things, the missing parts are not strange for a BMW, the (broken) cooling system got removed completely, so many hoses are gone because they are mounted onto the radiator assembly. With the power steering system, the same deal, the cooler for the pump and rack, is mounted in the cooling pack, so they had to drain the fluid / remove it from the reservoir.
But, i've also noticed the car has been in an accident before, because the hood is from a non-LCI 3 series (04-08) while the car is from 2010. You can see that because the top part of the non-LCI grille is mounted on the hood of the car, on the LCI it's not ;)

Expedition might have had custom rims on and they put the old tires back on when they took their system out...don't think that flip down would work without the stereo hooked up either

I'm still thinking about that white Grand Marquis. Loved that white on white.

I’d do the Expedition. Four used tires. A cheap double din radio to keep it modern. Maybe paint the lettering on the tires to enhance curb appeal. And of course; a battery.
    Easy flip.

Expedition could have dry rot on the tires just because a old person owned it and didn't drive it much ... looks good! I'd try it out

Hi Randy, If you like minis look for a supercharged R53 cooper S with the 6 speed, it's a lot of fun with 163,170 or 210 hp (jcw) and it's quite reliable compared to all the other models. Will be a future classic.

I bet that Subaru sti has a blown engine when I saw the Cobb sticker I knew the car was modified. Most Subaru run a Cobb tuner access port to make them faster and you don’t have to worried about getting it dyno tune.
