  • An era before electronics on bikes and when dropper posts were just making their way onto the scene. Fast forward seven years later, RockShox's Flight Attendant was being fine-tuned for its worldwide debut. If you believe the hype (and we do), Flight Attendant may change the game forever. Buckle up. This will make mountain biking evolve. But before we go forward, let’s look back and talk to those who were part of the development of Flight Attendant from the ground up.

So in the end this kind of technology also entered the world of MTB bicycles. Well, I really did imagine that one day bicycles would have advanced technology like this Rockshox flight attendant, but what I never thought before was, it only took 20 years or less; for this kind of technology in bicycles, to experience a quantum leap like this.
It's hard to believe, that 15-20 years ago bicycles were still simple technology that relied on wires and simple mechanical systems, but now the technology installed is on the same level as fly-by-wire or drive-by-wire in airplanes or in airplanes. car motorcycle.
Recent technological developments in bicycle world have been terrifying.

This is awesome work by the SRAM team. I've often thought....why don't the bike sus companies replicate or enhance what's going on in the automotive suspension landscape like Magnetic Ride Control (or similar systems for dynamic dampening control)....this to me seems to be their application of that to the bike world. Should be interesting.

It seems no, and that is odd given that the video states that it was designed to work with existing Charger 2 dampers. That said, I really don’t understand why SRAM didn’t just add LSC control to more of its suspension products to achieve a very similar and far simpler result.

As I understand it, this system defaults to ‘open’ when descending. (Please correct me if I am wrong.) So it really only changes the way your suspension behaves while climbing or on flat terrain. If this is the case, then please convince me this isn’t a crutch for poorly-calibrated suspension. Because I simply don’t understand the hubbub. (AND i am totally willing to eat my words.) Maybe it will ‘wow’ someone who’s either been away from bikes for 20 years, or it’s a cash grab for the share of the market that simply buys the most expensive stuff because they can. I’m not a curmudgeonly internet warrior - I’ve been riding since the late 80s, I get out 2-3x a week, and I am on a ‘21 Slash with premium suspension bits. I’m no pro but I’m no slouch either, and I simply don’t understand the value of this product. I have no problem adjusting my shock compression with the manual lever on the shock body, and my Lyrik is set up to work great for the conditions I have here in Bellingham. Flight attendant is a total head scratcher.
