  • The Scots deserve no pity, if they voluntarily surrender their united and separate interests to the mercy of an united Parliament, where the English have so vast a majority their 45 Scots members may dance round to all eternity, in this trap of their own making ~ Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun

As a man born in England (sorry) But living in Scotland for 24 years, I really, really can't understand why any Scottish born person would not fight tooth and nail for independence, I have supported independence for over 20 years and I'm running out of time. Wake up people!

So much righteous passion. Excellent to hear. How do we get this passion communicated to the Scottish public? That speech from Flynn, all bonhomie and crawling - he is Westminster's creature now - it was sickening. The seat he holds dear. Grotesque. This panel can see it, the viewers here can see it, how can we help the wider Scottish public see it, and move in a new direction, because that clearly needs to happen. SNP reintroduces in-party democracy and promotes candidates of quality and integrity? I wish they would, but it's never going to happen with the bank manager and his cronies in charge, the cold hand of Sturgeon up his back.
We live in post-truth politics where politicians have learned they can lie and get away with it, and like spoiled children who get worse the more they are coddled, have grown bolder and bolder in the knowledge. A post-legality world seems an unfortunate extension of the same principle. If you let folk get away with lies by omission, they try actual lies, get away with those and they tell rampant untruths with a straight face on camera and do not care if they get fact checked. That is where we are now. If you allow laws to be first bent, then broken, with weasel words and legal sophistry deployed as figleaves to cover the moral vacuum created, you end up in a world where the powerful imagine laws do not apply to them. That is where we are headed (can argue where we already are, depressingly): rules for thee not for me, domestically and internationally. Lloyd is right, that will likely end in war as the new way to settle disagreements, as if no-one cares to honor laws any further only might is left to settle arguments, until the destruction is so severe that those who remain regain their senses. Question is: how many will remain, and will the lesson last much more than 80 years?

Aye, I agree with Phil on the SNP. They're a dud, done for, no no never again. Huh, Alison Thewliss; the SNP put a leaflet through my door to re-elect her. She wasn't ever my MP, so can't re-elect her. She was snuck in to replace the creep Patrick Grady. I'd never vote for either.
Yes, we need some maturity in scottish politics, fewer scams and getting screwed.

Swinney's appointment mirrored the way the SFA shuffled around the usual suspects when looking for a manager (before they eventually got a half-decent on in Clarke.)

Undoubtedly one of the best “shows” you lovely people have put on so far and I’ve watched most of them. The level of anger is ramping up and that’s a good thing, even though it’s as a result of so many bad things happening in Scotland, UK and around the world. We SHOULD be angry! In terms of the channel itself, thank you for ditching the 3 guests talk about the same topic, all saying the same thing but slightly differently; that was stultifying. Given that your show is primarily apolitical, any chance of getting Sara Salyers on? 🙏😇 Wider dissemination of the Salvo movement, the Claim of Right and the sovereignty of the Scottish people (instead of parliamentary sovereignty) is looking like our best (if not only) non-violent hope for Independence.

Your conversation about the language of flags caught my attention as it continued a brief conversation I've had.
On 5th July I received this message from a family member; "Union flags, Welsh flags and Saltires were being waved outside Downing Street. No St. George's Crosses. So the Butcher's Apron already being used by Labour to show England has supremacy over everyone else!"
On the morning of 7th July I saw BBC TV present a view of an apparently empty Downing Street, with the railings, on either side of and up to the door of No.10, garlanded by a double row of St. George's Cross pennants. No other flags present! Surely any journalist worth their salt would have queried this? The Scot reporting did not even comment.
So I was shocked by your photo from Bute House. This use of flags is, in my opinion, very powerful messaging. For those who don't seem to notice it is subtle a subliminal, perhaps, therefore, the most effective propaganda. For those who do notice, it powerfully underlines for them their place in the grand order and their utter impotence to counter it!
