I did aikido as a kid for like 10 years. There’s definitely some stuff you can actually use but most of it would never be useful in an actual fight. The best thing I took away from it was how to fall properly. That’s actually saved me a couple times from slipping on ice and just instinctively going into a fall.
haha, I did Aikido for 2 years before moving on to BJJ and Muy Thai....100% with you that the falling was the most lasting skill! I also still use some of the wrist warmup stretches
Honestly i think breaking fall is one of the most important skills because unless you are either someone who actively looks for street fights, you live somewhere particularly dangerous or it's part of your job you are probably gonna fall more than you are gonna fight.
I want to see a legit "bull-shido" course where, instead of the art being self defense, it's acting like you're getting beat up and performing difficult stunts to make the other guy look stronger. Instead of "you will be able to do combat like this," it's "you will be able to look like you are being defeated by someone doing combat like this"

The Rapid Slap Attack Jitsu is actually extremely effective against all flying insects. You can stack the Carpal Tunnel status effect so you do have to be careful when using it.
As someone who has practiced real martial arts, that rapid-slappies move has actually been used on me in tournaments by green-horns, and it never works out. One good side-kick to the gut and they can't get near you, and you get like 2 points per kick.
Actually there is some basis for it to be used. Not the way it was used in the video mind you, that's total bullshit. But there is actually real application for it. As someone is throwing a straight punch or something similar, you can strike down on their wrist with your knuckles kinda like in the video, and that leaves them open for a quick strike to the head. Honestly it's more of a block then a strike (though if you're doing it right theoretically almost every block should be a strike, but whatever).

Hey Charlie there is a fighter in China who goes by mad dog who has a very interesting story. He got into MMA and he challenges these "experts" to a fight. He eventually beat so many of them and made a mockery of chinese arts that the government actually stepped in to discredit him and make his life a living hell i.e. lowering his credit score so he couldnt travel by plane/ train or even stay in certain hotels
At one point they made him wear clown face-paint and gave him a silly nickname to embarrass him, but instead what happened was that rather than a mediocre MMA fighter kicking these kung-fu masters' asses all over China, it was a dude with clown make-up called "Watermelon" kicking these kung-fu masters' asses all over China, because that's far less embarrassing for China lol

I actually went to get a lesson to an Aikido school. Guy did this lock on my hand and - apparently - expected me to help him and roll over, but I didn't. Instead, I just quit this nonsense. Here a recipe for a shawarma
STEP 1
Tip all the ingredients, except the chicken and lemon wedges, into a blender or a smoothie bullet with 1 tsp sea salt and whizz to a smooth paste. Pile the chicken into a bowl or large plastic container, pour over the paste and mix through so the chicken is completely coated. Cover and marinate for at least 4 hrs or up to 48 hrs - the longer, the better.
STEP 2
Cooking on the barbecue:
Light a lidded barbecue, and let the flames die down. Once the coals have turned ashen, pile them up on one side with a few coals scattered around the other. Starting and ending with half a baking potato, thread all the chicken onto two long metal skewers - so that both skewers go through each piece of meat - packing the thighs down between the potato halves so that they are really compact. Place the large chicken kebab to the side of the barbecue with only a few coals underneath. Pop the lid down and cook for 45-50 mins, turning every 15 mins, or until cooked through - prise the chicken pieces apart in the centre to check, or use a digital cooking thermometer; it should read 70C or more. Leave to rest for 5 mins.
STEP 3
Cooking in the oven:
Heat the oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 8. Sit the kebab across a roasting tin so it is suspended, or rest a wire rack over a roasting tin and place the chicken on top. Cook for 45-55 mins or until cooked through.
STEP 4
Warm the naan on the barbecue or in the oven. Bring the kebab to the table to carve, wrap with warm naans, and serve with the other salads and lemon wedges for squeezing over.
