Just wanted to say thank you, you explained the process eloquently and in enough detail ... my crochet runs amok at the beginning and ending of rows, not now as you have explained how to do both. I made this one for my 3 year old with rainbow striped yarn. I extended the collar a bit and made a ruffled edge instead of the frontposts double crochet and fringe. As always I love your tutorials!

I made this for my granddaughter.. I used the big twist yarn, watermelon & I ordered from Premier Value Pompom yarn.. double strands and it came out beautiful! Thereâs only 2 people that have the best tutorials that are the easiest to follow & one is Crystal. With this pattern I blew by 3 corners without crocheting 4 double crochets or the 2 clusters & so far the poncho looks great. Iâm so surprised, I canât tell, so far. If I didnât have ra I would unravel, so itâs rare that I start over. Also, I wish I had gone with the 5.5 hook since I crochet a little tight & the babyâs head is huge. She will still be able to wear it one season, maybe two.
I canât wait to make this for my niece. Sheâs 4.5 and a size 6 I believe.

This yarn reminds me of the Big Twist Rainbow Classic yarn from Joann in comparison to weight and texture. It is also classified as a bulky 5 but works up like a worsted 4.
