    I love a poncho. I've never saw one this cute for a child. Always fancy little coats or sweaters.

  • @MichelleSzromba-li9wi

    Thank you. I think I will also make this first one for my older granddaughter.

    I have been subbed to you for years (maybe 6-7 years) and I just want to say you do such a great job. I learned how to crochet from you and I cannot say enough how easy you make it! I haven’t crocheted in a few years after my kids were born but I cannot wait to start again!! This will be such a perfect project to make for my daughter!

    Hi, I would love to make this poncho for my granddaughter. How do I calculate the number of stitches I would require for a size 4 to 5 years? Love your video tutorials 🎉🎉 Many thanks

    The yarn I used for this was mandala. Baby yarn. weight #3 the color magic moon. It came out nice. I added a border to mine.

    I just made this, had to use Baby Cruched Velvet from Bernat because the Bernat Baby Blanket Tiny is no longer available. Love the way it turned out, thanks Mikey.

      Yeah, I think Bernat Blanket Tiny is long gone. Like anything in the yarn arts, yarns come and go. Only the staple yarns last in longevity.

    I'm pretty sure I noticed on the pattern note, it says to end the 2nd section on the wrong side.
    It seems kinda important for me to watch this one.

    If I wanted to make an adult size poncho, like the baby one, how many stitches would I start out with and how many inches would each side be, like the baby one except on a larger size. I am a beginner and I don't know how to size it. Thanks for all that help me.

      You are second to ask that in the past week. I really don't know because it needs a whole new design for it. I'm sorry, I just don't know.

    Ty! For showing the construction of the diagram I’m not a beginner but I’ve never been able to figure out the way this folds 🙄 stupid me. I’ve not seen Bernat Tiny yet at local Micheals in Tennessee and I think Bernat Blanket is to lg hook size could another yarn be suggested for my 16 mo old granddaughter? I was thinking maybe Caron Cakes with the the same hook and the larger ch. amount bc she is a bit small for her age, I’ve measured her head circumference and chest Circ. Gauge may be a little different but close

      For sure but I don't know the math to suggest what to change. You may need to play with the idea.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  Před 5 lety

      I would look for a different pattern completely. The neck may not work in this configuration. I'm not so sure at the moment. It's approaching midnight here and I am unsure of a good answer.

    I am very new to crocheting. I am wanting to make this for a 1st birthday gift. This may be a dumb question, but can I make this with a size 6 super bulky yarn and a 6.50mm hook? Or would it be better if I used size 6 super bulky yarn with a size 9 or 10 hook?

    How would you make it smaller? My mother-in-law made this for my daughter and she just pulls the neck down and makes a skirt of it and then walks out of it. The gauge was correct also.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  Před 5 lety

      Then just make the narrow part not as long. It will make the neck hole smaller. Surprised it's creating a skirt. If your gauge is correct, I'm unsure what could be wrong.

  • @crazygamerchickcrazy-g-c7569

    If you want to make it bigger than I would of thought that you would just have to make the rows longer, adding more Stitches. Just like when you make a blanket you just multiple the Stitches.

    Can we use a 4 medium yarn to make this Poncho?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  Před 5 lety +3

      this yarn is thinner than 4 ply medium... it's a 3. You could try the medium, just check the gauge to be sure. Adjust hook if necessary.

    • @jeannakelly4174
      @jeannakelly4174 Před 5 lety

      Ok I think this question answers mine since I cannot get Bernat tiny yet. I’m thinking about using Caron Cakes and I’m always mindful of chest circumference and will adjust to get proper gauge. Ty.
