    Thank you for such an interesting video! I was wondering on how to use audissey microphone with rew in order to help in my DIY projects and I think this is exactly what I have been searching for! Regards from Argentina.

    Thank you so much for this guide. I used it in a slightly different way. I have an apex 220 mic that didn’t come with a calibration file and I always noticed my measurements looked off compared to Audyssey. One time I tried to manually calibrate using my mic and it sounded very muffled. Using this guide I was able to create a calibration file for my mic based on the differences between its and Audysseys measured responses. I did use more smoothing, 1/6th specifically, because I didn’t want it to overfit.

    What microphone model does your file apply to? In my case , the mic model number is DM-A409. Thank you

      SInce there's only one batch calibration file applied to all mics, it's supposed to be the same but every mic capsule will be slightly different.

    Am I missing something? Followed your tutorial up until you said "plug Audyssey" mic into mic jack of PC. I use my laptop. When I plug it in, my PC is not recognizing mic at all. What drivers are used for Audyssey mic and how to make my laptop recognize it?

    • @ocaudiophile
      @ocaudiophile  Před 10 měsíci

      It doesn't need drivers, the laptop's soundcard should already have drivers for its own mic input. Check your laptop for the correct soundcard drivers.

  • @pabloosvaldopenizzotto1098

    Did you take the file with mic pointing upward? Or pointing to the speakers?

    • @ocaudiophile

    • @pabloosvaldopenizzotto1098
      @pabloosvaldopenizzotto1098 Před dnem

      @@ocaudiophile After using the mic for setting up my Denon AVR1611 many times, I have found that pointing the microphone right to each speaker each time you see the AVR change from one to the other; the overall result in sound performance has been better. Being the mic pointing up as you said, it makes sense that the calibration file shows that up to 10 dB has to be added for higher frequencies. So I do assume that pointing the mic to the speaker, the overall frequency response will tend to be flatter, even in high frequency.

    I noticed most of your teaching regarding Audyssey is based on the $20 app. Have you used MultEQ-X at all and do you think there is value in it? Or can most all adjustments be made using the .ady file and REW as you have shown?

    • @ocaudiophile

      I can do anything that MultEQ-X offers with multeq app and REW and more so I didn't need to buy it. MultEQ-X is easier of course and has lots of supporters so I'm not against an average consumer going for it.

    Hi! Im a little bit overwhelmed with the amount of technical information u have on this channel. Thank you. But, if I am starting and I only have an old denon receiver that supports the audyssey editor app and only the supplied microphone and I dont have the umik-1 microphone, where or which video should I start watching? Thanks again.

      @ocaudiophile Thank you for your reply. You have a video where you calibrated you marantz or denon microphone. Do I have to do that on my denons microphone? Also, do I just follow this video links you have provided in ur reply if i will re-do my calibration on my 3.1 setup?

    • @ocaudiophile
      @ocaudiophile  Před 5 měsíci +1

      No, you don't. The accuracy of the Audyssey mic is more than enough for the resolution of Audyssey filters. With the correct method, you can get very good results.

      @christiank.8035 Před 5 měsíci

      @ocaudiophile Thanks again for replying. I have been jumping from one video of yours to another, just quickly watching the videos, and you have one video where you have provided a link on the description where to get/download the calibrated file of that audyssey microphone. So, do i need to do that?

    • @ocaudiophile
      @ocaudiophile  Před 5 měsíci

      @@christiank.8035 if you want to measure your system yourself with REW, yes you need the mic cal file. To optimise Audyssey calibration in REW, you don't need that. Measurements you import from Multeq app are already applied mic calibration.

    Love to know if the ACM1-X mic is worth it or if it's possible to use a calibration file with MultiEQ-X with the default mic where they've made it rather difficult requiring a serial number to download the calibration file.
