Top 10 Coin Flip Cards with the Most Impactful Effects

  • At its core, Yu-Gi-Oh, and pretty much all trading card games are games of chance. You and your opponent shuffle your deck, draw your standing hand, and then it’s off to the races until someone wins and someone loses. Or you inevitably run out of time during Game 3 and have to call the match a draw, but for this list we’re mostly concerned with the Gamble of winning or losing. Heads or tails. We’re lining up the top 10 most impactful coin flips because Yu-Gi-Oh is a game of chance made up of smaller games of chance: Will you draw the out? Will 3000 attack be enough to beat over your opponent’s board? Will Time Wizard clear your opponent’s board or your own? Are you feeling lucky?

Hi, so we added an extra negative to gambler of legend by mistake lol.
I’ll have y’all know I actually do fix a lot of mistakes that I catch while setting up the videos for editors. Sometimes i miss things because I don’t actually read cards that I think I know how they work already. And since I love coin flip decks, I made the same mistake as the script writer and thought it was gtg. So the mistake went through 2 humans and no, we don’t use ai for these videos. Nothing in ygo is written down, you literally cannot use ai to write my videos if you tried.

They nerfed his skill hard but it was fun while it lasted. I remember playing an Anti-Light version with Ally of Justice Quarantine because Konami released that many Light supports that season such that 60% were Light decks.

    Idea for a Coin based Spell Counter card;
_The Mad Magician’s Perilous Piggy Bank!_
    Continuous Trap
_If a Coin Toss is performed, you can activate this card that is facedown on your field, or in your hand or GY. Place 1 Spell Counter on this card for every coin that is tossed. _If this card is summoned, you can activate 1 “Fiend Comedian” from your hand, deck or GY. This card can attack all of your opponents monsters once each per battle phase. While this card is face-up on the field, your Spell/Trap cards and effects that require a coin toss or Die Roll card be activated from your hand or GY, or during the turn they were set, and also, Monster Effects that require a Coin Toss or Die Roll become Quick-Effects if they weren’t before. Each time a card(s) is sent to the GY or Banished, you can increase or decrease this card’s level by 1 for each card sent or banished. Gains ATK/DEF equal to the result of any die roll X500. If a coin is tossed, you can call it, and if you call it correctly, this card’s ATK/DEF is doubled._

"You have brought your chance of sucess up to a much friendlier 75%". This sententce is wrong in the context of Time Wizard.
Imagine we want to call Tails because Tails never fails.
The chance of having Tails in the first coin toss is 50/50 and therefore you can either get Tails or Heads with the same chance. The moment you throw a second coin, you would think that chances are now 75% due only one of four results not having Tails in it. However, this only applies if the second coin toss needs the first coin toss as a base or vise versa, which does NOT apply for Time Wizard.
Time Wiizard only wants the result of ONE single coin toss and the result of the other coin toss does not matter at all. Furthermore, the first coin toss does not effect the chances of the second coin toss at all, so both coin tosses are independant to each other.
So, what now? Second Coin Toss might allow you throw again, however the chance of having Tails or Heads is till 50/50.
I hope it was understable. ^^
    Edit 1:
    2:35
The same thing also does not apply for Sand Gambler. Due the first three coin tosses have no effect on the second round therefore being independantly from each other, the chances are remaining the same.
Second Coin Toss can only change the odds of a coin toss if the result of the first round has any effect on the second one, which does not apply for Time Wizard and Sand Gambler.
    Edit 2:
    21:46
Mathematically, there are only 4 outcomes and only 2 do matter. The orders of the coins does not matter therefore canceling outcoumes, which are similar such as H T T and T T H being identically according to the card's effect. Still, it is 50/50, which you mentioned.

I've probably said this before on another video, but I think the ways to make good coin flip cards is to 1. Give both results upsides, 2. Give them other effects (but only one or two) aside from the coin toss that still make them useable, and 3. Make a more generic Light Barrier.

_⚪️If a coin is tossed, you can Call It, and if you Call It correctly, draw 1 card._
_⚪️”Arcana Force” monsters require 1 less tribute to normal summon/set, and also, During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon/Set 1 "Arcana Force" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set._
_⚪️Once per turn, During either player’s turn, you can tribute 1 Face-up “Arcana Force” monster you control: Normal or Special Summon 1 “Arcana Force” monster from your hand, deck or GY with a different name._

Idea to retrain Gamble into something that can better emphasize "trying to get out from a worst case scenario".
    All In
    Normal Spell.
This card's activation and effect cannot be negated or prevented. You can only activate this card when you have 3 or fewer cards in your hand and on your field while your opponent has at least 10 cards in their hand/on their field; draw until you have 8 cards in your hand, and if you do, at the end of this turn you lose the duel.
The first line is meant to bypass flood gates of lingering effects, like Droll and Lock Bird. The rest gives you a big draw but, as the name says, you're going all in that the cards you'll draw will let you win the duel on that turn.

It should also be broken as all get out, since if you’re gonna gamble, make sure the results are worth playing an inconsistent deck. Make it a Pendulum Deck too, for double the effects.

I remember when Blowback Dragon first came out, everyone was saying how much it sucked (for the time) because the effect was a "might happen" despite not having a downside if it didn't. They'd say, "Might as well play Summon Skull."

Get Makyura in the graveyard, then just start drawing cards until draw into Exchange of The Spirit, then just activate it once you have 15 cards in your graveyard, and you've gotten rid of your opponent's entire deck before their first draw phase.
