  • Water spots are caused by mineral content inside the water beads left behind on your finish. So if you're washing your car on a hot day with regular tap water, you'll likely have water beads drying into water spots on your finish before you can dry them yourself. Water spots can also be deposited from rain water left to evaporate on the surface including water sprinkler systems which has hard water. In this video i discuss how to properly and safely remove water spots without the need of taking action to an aggressive or abrasive method. This video is unedited without any special effects. The work is real and the results are flawless. #asmr #car #ceramiccoating #waterspotremover #youcandoittoo

      I don't want to give you the misinformation as i don't specialize in bodyshop work but fresh paint can take up to a month or more to fully cure but there is what's known as an initial cure after 24 hours. It is acceptable to wetsand fully cured paint. It is ok to use the optimum mdr to remove the water spots and it is ok to use a mild polish to remove the spot the bird poop left behind. Usually when paint is not fully cured it is still in a soft stage but it is softer at the lower layers of the paint.

      Usually if water spots are fresh they can come right off especially if you have the surface protected with ceramic coating. It's only till then when the water spots have sat there for days weeks and have been baked on by the sun that it's a problem. This is most likely when MDR would be needed.

      Yes it is safe for glass as well. Apply a few dime-sized drops on a foam applicator and work into the glass in small sections. Depending on how hard the water spots are you may need to repeat the process and will require some elbow grease but the MDR is very effective. I recommend doing it out of direct sunlight that way the sun does not dry out the product and decrease working time. It should be done in a cool shaded area or garage if you can.

      Some water spots that are stubborn may require multiple applications of working the product in. I really don't recommend wheel acid. Gtechniq makes also a very good water spot remover for harder water spots but for extremely hard water spots. You can use a finishing pad on a dual action polisher on speed setting 1 or two and work the product in for 30 seconds and then rinse. Should do the trick as you will be producing more revolutions.

      Thanks for the support Jonathan. Optimum MDR won't damage the ceramic coating because it is a non abrasive formula. It's a gel formula that dissolves as it removes the water spotting and in fact works much better on vehicles that are coated because the water spots are not able to penetrate the clear coat. Use a very soft foam applicator. Use this product out of direct sunlight and on a cool panel. Work the product in for 30 to 60 seconds in small sections and then rinse with water once you see the water spots dissolving.

    Question... I just purchased a lightly used car that has ppf on it and ceramic coating over the ppf. I keep the car outside and every time it rains water spots are everywhere after it dries off. Is there anything I can do to prevent the water spots from forming? I was told that this is just a downside of having ceramic coating and keeping your car outside.

    • @illusionzauto
      @illusionzauto  Před 11 měsíci

      This is the nature of having ppf and ceramic coating exposed to the outdoors. While there is no permanent solution to fully prevent water spotting, I can give you an idea of what may work. While many people say you can't wax the ppf film, this is because some waxes have kerosene in it but I believe it is worth checking out Gyeon Q2 wax because the formula contains fluorine and this is the only wax that can be topped over existing ceramic coatings. This product was made to help prevent water spotting from water sprinklers and hard rain. I would recommend applying this product to a small area on the ppf and wait till it rains. And see if the product actually prevented the water spotting on your ppf.

    The reason why you want to put a wax on top of a ceramic coat is because as the wax quickly breaks down little by little, (within a month or 2) the water minerals go with it and it doesn't etch the clear as long as you keep it as spot free as possible and or keep the wax applied often, every few month's or so.

    • @illusionzauto
      @illusionzauto  Před 9 měsíci

      I don't always advise people to put wax on their ceramic coating but i do recommend Gyeon wax to apply over a ceramic coating as it is made for ceramic coatings and will only enhance the water beading behavior. I definitely get what you're saying as wax actually stands up better against water spotting vs. a ceramic coating. The main thing here is that as long as you have a layer of protection over your ceramic coating. You can greatly minimize water spots.

    I did ceramic coating 2 days ago and i have water marks already can i use MDR to remove them?

    • @illusionzauto
      @illusionzauto  Před 2 lety

      It sounds like you parked the vehicle outside after the application of the coating. Ceramic coatings must stay dry for 24 hours. I really don't know what ceramic coating you used but for example with carpro cquartz. You can apply (reload) sealant 60 minutes after application of the ceramic coating. This helps to avoid water spotting after that 24-hour period of keeping the vehicle dry. On the other hand just out of curiosity, did you inspect the surface precisely before applying the coating? I asked this because a common mistake with detailers and do it yourselfers is that a vehicle will already have water spots etched into the paint. If not fully removed and then you apply a ceramic coating, the ceramic coating magnifies the water spots once it cures. If your water spots are actually on top of the ceramic coating you will have to wait 5 days from the time you applied it before using any type of chemicals. Use the MDR like I did in the video after 5 days and gently washed the vehicle with a two bucket method. Then apply a quality ceramic or graphene sealant.

    • @illusionzauto
      @illusionzauto  Před 3 lety +2

      Parking outside and it raining and then the sun coming out is a common thing that we all deal with only to be left with the dreaded water spots. If your vehicle is highly protected with wax sealant or ceramic coating then all it should take is a good wash to remove those water spots. A good product that avoids water spots from being created so hard is car pro Reload. It creates a really good barrier between your paint or the ceramic coating and the weather elements. If your vehicle is ceramic coated I would put a protective layer of car pro reload. Even if the vehicle is not ceramic coated car pro reload is really good at avoiding this problem. Water spotting only becomes a real issue when you allow it to sit on the surface for a matter of days and weeks. Again if your car is protected very well and it rains and the Sun comes out, just give it a quick wash and that will remove them with little effort.

      @illusionzauto  Před 4 lety +1

      First thing, did you leave the car outside in the rain after applying the ceramic coating? If so, it is recommended to use a product like Carpro reload 1 hour after applying a ceramic coating. It is an Sio2 sealant that will protect the ceramic coating from these types of events. Otherwise a ceramic coating needs 12 hours to cure and must not be washed for 72 hours. In all it takes about 2-3 weeks for the ceramic coating to cure to it's final hardness. If you do have water spots on the coating. Wash the vehicle thoroughly using the two bucket wash method out of direct sunlight. After washing and drying. Apply Optimum MDR as seen in this video to a small inconspicuous area and test the product on the water spots. If it removes the water spot, rinse and move on to the rest of the vehicle. Do small areas at a time. Once all the water spots are removed. Protect the coating with the Carpro reload to avoid this from happening again and do not let rain water sit on the vehicle in direct sunlight.

      It has environmentally friendly acids in it so yes. All water spots removers have some degree of acidity
