Petition for a video where eldy goes back to look and see if it’s still as rounded
Every time it was shot from a low angle he started saying that shit. Dude was getting super annoying about it too. From any other angle it looked the same and he wouldn't listen to anyone because "I skated it". Bad vibes in the studio on this one wtf.
He's right but it did used to be more round when Appleyard nollieflip back fiftied it U can see his trucks wobble n he almost slips off
Theory: trucks were more narrow back then so now with everyone riding 147-149s the grinds have enough room. Same goes for crosslocks how you gonna crosslock on a 7.5 board 😆
Insurance is always about money, a permit, maybe but insurance is different...
I would pay to see that video
Mark appleyard nollieflip back fifty was One of my favorite at the clipper
kept waiting for them to get that!
exactly lol
Yes mine too! It looks so clean!
Seriously wtf
Came here for this…
I pour concrete for a living .. that hubba has a ‘chamfered edge’ as we call it .. pretty much about an inch 45 degree finish .. the reason is when you leave concrete at a perfect 90 degree with no finish the stones will expose themselves after a lot of rains and blow apart .. 👍🏻👍🏻 much love fellas love the show
Darrell Stanton back noseblunt and then ollie over to front blunt on the wrong side were mind-blowing at the time. Still are. Jamie Thomas impossible 50-50 was also amazing.
I could've swore Derrell locked in on the sequence of the front blunt in Thrasher, because I used to notice stuff like that. I can't find that sequence online, though. I never saw the footage back in the day, just the photos in Thrasher. Kinda hard to tell if both these angles are the same try, but if he did it four times it's possible the sequence was a different try.
That back noseblunt is probably my favorite Thrasher cover of all time. Looks like he's smiling, too.
@@morgellon7877 that’s what I remembered too. Like Chris Roberts said from someone who was there, Stanton did the ollie over to front blunt 4x so the sequence we saw in the Thrasher mag was different make
Darrell Stanton was unreal.
How floated up that nollie noseblunt. Roll forever i think. That video was crazy
Damn Darrell Stanton was so ahead of the tech back then.
DUDE IS SO TRIGGERED ABOUT IT BEING MORE SQUARE LMAOOO
Mark applyards nollie flip 50-50 was insane at the time
Nobody mentioned Geoff Rowley in Really Sorry front 180s the first set then switch 180 front 5050 the hubba shit was so sick
they dont know bro lol about the good old days.
lol i just went and rewatched that part and ended up watching all of really sorry again... good times
I feel like the old flip guys never really get their due on this podcast, which is strange because these guys haven’t seen a skateboard trick they don’t drool over. “Look at how he pops this Ollie right up from the street to the side walk” “wow you’re right, crazy 8 inch hops” “are those the es accel OGs?” “Such a dope shoe”
12:22 I was thinking the exact same thing. As a goofy rider, when I saw that ledge I immediately thought about a kickflip b/s noseblunt. And I will do that trick later tonight, I just need to fall asleep first.
how could they forget Jon Allie kickflip tailsilde (with the rail) ... was a thrasher cover and an ender !!
!!!!!
SO YOU WANNA BE A GYPSY
I always thought kevin bradley alley oop back shuv fifty was crazy
Jamie Thomas impossible fs 5050 , Forest Edwards tre flip 5-0, Jon Allie kickflip fs tailslide, Jake Ilardi bigspin fs bluntslide, Chris Joslin nollie flip fs 5050, Carlos Ribeiro switch bs noseblunt
I really liked Joslin's nollie flip fs 50-50, pure style.
!!!
How about nyjah Huston's nollie fs heel to switch 5-0, Shane O'Neills bigspin back tail, and ishods switch fs blunt
@@grandoi They mentioned all of those. All gnarly
Okay so for Clipper, I think it’s a normal process, if it’s painted, to level it out. Sand or buff out the wax from the surface to make it ready for painting. To match the rest of the ledge. They wouldn’t likely paint over a ledge straight out. I imagine they would make it more uniform. Which Eldridge saying it’s more rounded back then, makes total sense!
Wes Kramer’s 180 Wallride Fakie 5-0 was the one for me.
These video series are hands down the best skateboarding history lesson on the face of this earth. Thank you Roger and the whole nine club team!
Best thing about this whole thing: the Gideon Choi reference. Sick
Appleyard nollie flip back fifty
I think with the rail too
This is what I was waiting for. That trick is amazing
Excellent episode. Love that you give Nyjah the credit he deserves. Also, would love to see an episode on Hollywood high if you haven't already
The symmetry of Darrell's nollie bs noseblunt, how his body aligns with the ledge and flatground when landing is just incredible.
This is one of my new favorite segments right now. ❤
The greatest trick ever done for me is Jaws' kickflip melon, but specifically the bottom hubba of clipper my favourite is the kickflip back noseblunt, that's insane and it's super old too.
i agree with eldy, it looks alot diffrent these days, no shade, but it looked rounder back in the day.
21:25 - look at the round imprints from the rail and how far they are from the top.
Then go back to 13:09 and look at how far the imprints are from the top
🤔🤔🤔 I wonder if they ground some off the tol and that’s why it looks more square ?? Or did the handrail get shifted? If so, then they definately refurbed the rail to get rid of the original imprints
And also at 23:11, look at how close the handrail on the upper stairs is to the top of the ledge, there was no room for something like Eldy’s trick, something happened to that spot
Perfect. The hubba even looks a bit shorter now
I agree with Justin Eldridge … it was a rounder ledge back in the day.. it’s been modified for aesthetic reasons. Team Eldy for sure
Darrell's trick were definitely the best hands down based on difficulty and how long ago they were done. But Slash's trick is nuts, especially pulling back to regs.
Where was Jamie Thomas' impossible 50/50? That was sick too
I was gonna tell you to check his my war but I didn't know where you going with your question until now. So my comment is now completely unnecessary.
@@bridgeboy4582 lol
Darrell's Nollie backside nosebluntslide was one of the best tricks done on it but is not necessarily the best trick done on it. And his other tricks were definitely not the best tricks done on it.
Chad Muska skating all over the spots of keeping his trick constientcy and versatility on the rail of a insane ledge!
Muska was the man
That new Vice story video was sickkk
So many sick tricks - But you missed Jamie Thomas impossible 5050 :)
9 club field trip video to clipper to debunk if it’s been squared off or not !!
agree / in general i like this concept, but man this whole discussion is really hard to watch at some point
Heres my 5 cents on the "ledge was rounded - is not anymore/ knobs thesis":
MAYBE they touched up the whole ledge when they built that elevator and painted the whole thing?
I´ve never been there in person but you have to admit that it indeed looks rounded before the new paint and now it doesnt anymore
Cheers!
I feel like that kickflip nose blunt is what opened the door for skaters to push it in their 30s and up I remember him being like he js wanted one more last bang but that inspired me and made me think ill still skate hard in my 30s, i was in my early 20s then
James Hardy’s ally oop front 180 to switch back 50 was sick.
Love the part reviews and this side of the podcasts 🤟
Muska killed that spot! 🔥
jerry hsu’s little foot tap 50/50 in subject to change
Mark Appleyard Flip - “Sorry” 2002
Nollie flip back 50 50 is my favorite
Manny is so underrated
Stanton, nollie back nose blunt was insane.
Eldy's salty.
There’s a lot of dudes that were so good back in the day and I don’t think the youngsters understand. Dude Muska used to fucking Huck and shred huge rails and ledges. At that time there was only a couple dudes doing what he was doing. I know he’s old and hurt now but those muska flips used to be on lock man. Glad I came up in that era.
Mark Appleyards nollie flip bs 5050 is my favorite
動画等から、分析されているのを一緒に聴いて、とても楽しく勉強になる😊
James Hardy’s alley oop frontside 180 50 50 is gnarliest thing ever done at clipper
Lol. No it's not, not even close. And there's no Alley-oop is street skateboarding.
@@nedtempleton4873 okay front 180 to 50 50 the hard way whatever you want to call it, and yes I’m right. That’s the heaviest thing done on that hubba
@@Phillchamness6969 Lol. You are very wrong! There are lots of tricks done down it that are much harder/better than that. The *Frontside 180 fakie 50-50 is like a mid difficulty trick at the most. It is nowhere near the best trick done down it.
@@nedtempleton4873 I don’t think your tiny brain is comprehending what I am saying he approached the hubba like he was going to do a frontside grind and does a front 180 to switch back 50 50. You rarely even see people do that on ledges and I bet you can’t even do that on a curb
@@Phillchamness6969 OMG dude. I know exactly what you said/what you're saying. I can easily do that trick. And it's a *Frontside 180 FAKIE 50-50 (even though you approach frontside). Like some others, it seems you are making the mistake of equating rare trick with most difficult trick. Rare trick does not equal most difficult trick. It's a rare trick because no one cares about it and no one wants to do it because it's an easy, uninteresting, pointless trick. Everybody except a beginner could do that trick. You must not even skate because any and every skater who has skated long enough and who truly understands skateboarding knows that the trick you're referring to would be like a mid-level difficult trick on Clipper at the most and knows that it is certainly not the most difficult trick done down Clipper. There are multiple tricks done down Clipper that are much more difficult than that. The 360 flip nosebluntslide, Kickflip backside nosebluntslide, Bigspin frontside bluntslide to fakie, Cab backside nosebluntslide and others done down Clipper are all A LOT more difficult than the Frontside 180 FAKIE 50-50. Can you even do the Frontside 180 FAKIE 50-50? It is easy. Go try 360 flip nosebluntslide, Kickflip backside nosebluntslide, Bigspin frontside bluntslide to fakie and Cab backside nosebluntslide and then tell me which is more difficult.
Can’t forget the mark appleyard nollie flip 50/50
The fact that these fools have come so far with just basically saying words, but simultaneously saying nothing at all is incredible.
Wordd if it wasnt for eldy having skated it no way id watch the whole thing
What? That makes no sense.
@@nedtempleton4873 saying words that mean nothing. As to stay neutral and not hurt anyones feeling I’m guessing.
@@austinmanuel500 Every word they've said means something. No one would be able to understand anything they said if their words mean nothing.
@@nedtempleton4873 you’re braindead. How’s that for meaning?
Tanner Van Vark's wallie front blunt blew my mind.
is it in this video?
@@Skateboardfreakist no, but it should be
Kelly loved skateboarding so much >
Knobs arguing about knobs?!?? BWAHAHAWAHAHA. love this show ! Nine club fuckin rules
I don't remember what video it was but Mark Appleyard did a nollie flip back 50-50 on it that blew my mind when I was younger
Steezes getting butt hurt over the knobs, man he can kook it alot of the episodes. Kelly knows what he’s saying and he skates all the time. Steezes is abit sooky
Hoping for more of these.
Hollywood high 12 and 16?
Sylmar
Belmont 9 stairs and rail.
Saying it was rounder in the beginning is wild 😂
Nyjah's Cab 270 Bs Noseblunt I think is the hardest thing done down it so far.
maybe thrasher had to pay money to redo the ledge after the sesh
I did rolling on top kickflip front board. One of the best tricks I’ve ever done.
Taillslide Fs flip is my favorite move down clipper.
i think it has been touched up too .., the white paint and VX footage might make it harder to see... but I do feel like it looks sharper in the more recent footage
Jack curtain still one of the best. A gem of a skateboarder forsure
I noseslid clipper back in 2003 when I was 17. I tried to krook it and gave it at least 15-20 attempts before calling it quits. It blows my mind at all the shit thats been done on it since. That ledge is no joke.
Man, I lived a block away from clipper for 8 years. I walked by and skated filmed and photographed people their a lot. I could have answered so many questions for you all.
I’m in the crowd in the bust or bail footage. Hyped I made it into the nine club! Haha
This conversation is the origin story of regular vs goofy. BS is just scary being goofy period.
justin is so sensitive lmao
David Reyes - Tre flip nose blunt
why is no one talking about how heated they all kept getting
Cale Nuske kick flip crook
Where's John Rattray's noseblunt slide?
I absolutely love these "Best Tricks Done Down..." vids! Can't believe how low the views are currently. Hopefully time will bring them up to where they should be.
If anyone coming to cali wants to find clipper, just hop onto Castro in downtown San Francisco and drive up till you come to Castro and Clipper, the school is on the corner there
Could Eldridge be any less articulate?
Crob: "This day in age, when people are overanalyzing stuff...." Steezus: "..WHERES THE PINNNCH?". After they re-run the Stanton clip for the 45th time in a row. Guys. lol
Nobody mentioning Bryan Hanson’s full cab “nose slide” is really a front crook with the way that ledge is rounded
Nyjahs nollie heel back tail to fakie was insane
Condition of the hubba a hotly contested matter damn lol
pops hood up switch 50, rolling fisheye
Skated Clipper last weekend. Round AF.
15:00 never seen a backtail bluntslide before.
didnt nyjah also a cab 270 bs noseblunt? was not in the list right?
Yea it was for x games real street
They sanded tf outta the ledge for the BorB .. then there was a deal to re-paint, probably why it’s corner looks a bit sharper.
Also great that you all let each other speak. Nobody really cuts anybody off or takes over
Lol.
Uhm, you’re joking right? Half these guys act like petty teenagers bragging in front of girls.
Nyjah not grabbing the flash tsk tsk no wonder people hate him...
I love listening to them kinda argue over tricks.
Jake Johnson's wallie frontside grind :)
Doesn’t look like the top down bit has stoppers on the ledge either. Just on the rail
pappalardos switch back 50
Jamie Thomas bro
KB shuvit 50 the hardway and Jon allie?!
How about a switch 180 variable flip to regular nose blunt slide?
Slash cab nosegrind ( although it probably was unintentional)
“The lick”
My fav clip, John Rattrays noseblunt
So ill at the time
It makes a difference whether you're goofy or regular
Dude slash cabbed nose slide it!
Eldy the only high level rail guy and he don’t wanna say both 😂
It honestly looks round in early clips and more square in later clips.
Jesus Munoz impossible crooked grind in the most recent Thrasher mag
33:08 nice club is back…
I gotta admit, the darker hubba looks more square for some reason
Paul Hart switch heel back 5 was gnar not the best but still super sick
Yall should have said Eldy clip was your favorite!:)
People have been robbed there in broad daylight
Apples nollie flip back 50-50 .. havent seen the vid so maybe they said it idk xd
