Chris Roberts: linktr.ee/Chrisroberts - Sport
chris was just being overcritical because he’d rather watch his switch flip manual on repeat
Understandable
lmao, you beat me to this comment.
I want an SLS judged by Chris and Gifted Hater 😂 Nothing higher than a 8.
Ginwoo getting all 10s
Lmfao
Someone throws down a 540 flip nose blunt heel out. Chris "6.7"
Hell yeah that’d be great content 😂
Chris was just not having it today 😂
loved the critical chris, especially when it comes to contests
I like that milou gets scored well. He's one of the few guys who actually try and flow around the whole park
Vincent's a beaaast
"there's a lot more that goes into judging you know? like, whwhawhaa huh you know, tricks, there's a lot!"
truly an artform
Like judges being halfassers and playing favorites
Nyjah has his own special skatepark where he has it built to match the specs of all the features in the next SLS competition so he can practice on almost identical obstacles to prepare that's another reason why he does so great in these
@@JayBlaies that and the berrics selling signed rubble are good examples of skateboarders acting as soulless corporations
The equivalent of selling a celebs used shirt lol, berrics is so goofy for that @@pupiberto
Still waiting for the judges to start docking people for doing the same teicks every contest. Looking at you Gustavo Ribeiro 👀
Everyone has their tricks on repeat. Name one skater that doesn’t repeat tricks every contest.
@@PaintGuy i think the problem is that other skaters have a bag of tricks they repeat but are all different. Gustavo does 360 flip lip, board slide, 5050, nose grind, noseblunt, noseslide... You get the idea.
I think the judges should score three scores seperately.
1. Whats the on paper score of the trick based on difficulty (maybe also novelty).
2. how much is deducted because of flaws in execution
3. how much is deducted because of repetion from similar tricks being landed by the same skater or the competition.
Love when they’re critiquing instead of just agreeing to everything all the time
Chris was bitter today.
Good. Not enough bitterness on the internet these days. Enjoy it.
@@AP-op4rc said no one ever
@@superxnatrl1941 Awwww. Tryin to troll me to death. Breakin my heart dude.
Every video**
He needed a Cup Noodle
The wall of positive noise dilutes skate competition. Kelly's reasoning of "dude that's hard" is such a straw man. It's all hard, that's why they are the pro's in a contest. The point is boundaries pushed at the highest level. But hey, the consumers dictate how valuable a product is. Which, judging by who is advertising at events, it makes sense.
I appreciate that Chris was looking at things critically, but all those tricks were bangers 🙌🛹
I agree they throw 9's to freely and now 9 club score has become so easy to get. Most of those tricks are high 8's not 9's
Yall gotta calm down a little tho, Chris literally said he “cannot judge skateboarding”
Chris, your show is called nine club, but is the content really a nine tho?
The guests are Nines
Facts
25:45 Couldn't agree more, Chris. As a Brazilian, I was really embarrassed by that kind of behavior. Vincent was being so respectful and cheerful, he didn't deserve that at all.
Agree with Chris’s perspective, he’s too core to be an sls judge and just having fun. Also Russian mob boss outfit is what’s up
Chris, I’m with you all the way man
Well, we're back at the nine club hosted by Larry David.
I love chris' critical takes, definitely not over critical at all, fairly valid in some points.
Should the trick lose points if that skater does that trick at every contest? At every SLS stop? I think it should definitely lose points over time from the same person. Aurulien doing ghetto birds gets old to me. Same with Kelvins 270 tails/blunts. Yuto’s tornado trick. Like of course they’re impressive the first 5-10 times you see it, but after that you gotta mix it up somehow right?
Fact
yep, french guy got old to me like 4 years ago, same 360 flips and hard flips every single time
I could go the rest of my life without having to see another front crook by Jamie Foy, I dont care how big the rail is don't give a shit. Same with Andrew Reynolds and his frontside flip enough already.
@@JoryBarrett Well now I wouldn’t go that far, if I watch a skate video part from one of them, I want to see their signature tricks at least once. However when scoring them in a contest it should definitely play a role imo 🤷♂️
Each skater can only have so many tricks. What else can you expect from Yuto lol. The guy is doing thing no one is doing
I like them videos u guys discuss stocks those are entertaining
While i havent been into the contest scene since the 90s Street league has it! THX GUYS!!!!
Can you imagine if the NFL players stopped after every play and hugged? SKATERS SUPPORTING SKATERS!
50-50 kickflip out, 9 club haha
Dude, we are crazy for skate! Doesn’t matter who is there, we are going to make noise because we love that
Chris HANGRY in this one haha
Chris was just mad no one skated a curb
The irony of having the Nine club rating Nine clubs.
You don’t know what irony means
Chris just wants to see more switch flip mannys
Shane’s 9.4 crook nollie tre was contextual. He was already out of it and they were chuckin him some love and respect
Bro was tripping on these 9's 😂
The one off the ledge wasn’t a 9. Not everything is a participation trophy handout folks.
I agree
Makes you wonder about the name of the podcast
I’m with Chris on this one
I LOVE Rayssa Lael, I don't mean this against her, but I thought women and men were judged the same. No dude would get a 9 for that run. Did they change the standard that men and women are judged the same?
I think they changed the way women are judged to be comparative to each other rather than being on the same scale.
Olympics they are judged the same but I think that's just an olympic thing.
Exactly
With Chris it seems that he just genuinely doesn't understand how judging works, he has talked about it often over the years, he genuinely doesn't know if a trick will get an 8.5 or a 9.5
Tell me why Kelly's a judge and Chris isn't without telling me Kelly's a judge and Chris isn't.......
@@just_goldsI think SLS gives out 9s like free candy bc the announcers get to say “NINE POINT TWO!!!!” for every skater and it sounds good for television. More exciting etc. Comps would be so much better to core skaters if judging was stricter but that’s just me.
Chris “I don’t know if that’s a 9” Roberts
I fully agree with Chris
If you can’t bring Chloe’s level of Hype,I don’t wanna see it!
Beautiful Ghetto on a 12 stair, Landed to perfection, not a nine #chrisroberts ???
There should be a judging app. Top and bottom 5% of scores get dropped. The rest are averaged. You should have to qualify by judging an event (without counting toward the outcome.) and come close enough to scores they receive to become a judge in future events.
Crob seems to think Street League is people doing varial heel to back flip to 360 to lateflip-lateshuv front crook over to front feeble impossible late bigflip body varial out on a 50 stair rail, surrounded by a pile of skulls, with flames coming out of the sides and a bottomless pit underneath it with giant sawblades spinning out of the walls. And thats barely an 8.9.
Some of these tricks scores high without any flip in or trick out. So why do it when a halfcab smith is enough to get a 9.4
Because during the initial movement he loses 100% sight of the handrail. You fail to land on that rail you go to the hospital or the cemetery. That's why.
I agree with Chris on that first Shane one. Its like basic Shane.
26:07 cropnik was fire
The bonk is at max a 8 for me for beeing original
chris is all valid
Im with Chris on this one. 3/4 of these shouldn't be 9s
In Chris's defense, if mo-fos are doing treflip nose blunts in lines, then those best tricks are kinda weak by comparison.
Who is the hater in the white hat? Wack
I'm with Chris. I'm a few minutes into this and I'm not giving any of these tricks a 9. I think the judges are wayyyyy too generous. Given how technical skateboarding has become, the only trick I'd consider giving a 9 to is Jagger's. Hoefelers tricks and Yuto's are simpler than people think. Rotating fakie or nollie is way easier than spinning from regular stance into grinds. Why do you think everyone learns fakie and nollie 360s before regs?
I can relate to c rob when I skate my local. Why are yall clapping for that 5050 front 180 out on the box? That's easily a 5.6
I allways grade runs and tricks before judges give their score, and every time my score is 0.2-0.3 higher than what judges give
Caples trick was not a 9. That's all I'm saying. Nyjah's trick down the hubba was also given a 9. How is Caple's the same ? Makes no sense
Nyjah didn't think to do it.
@@Dontbustthecrustcause logically it’s an 8. Why bother doing it.
Chris' standards are jacked
carlos switch back lip
Crob finally based here, except on nollie 180 switch back smith cmon now
I'm sorry but SLS judges screwed over Alex Midler when he did a back lip pop over the bear trap rail dude got ah 6.5 and EVERYONE was piss even Midler threw 2 thumbs down on the score tbh the judging are bias they hoe over Felipe Motta as well like for example if YUTO or NYJAH does the exact same trick boom high 8 or 9 but Midler gets a 6.5 for a gnarly truck on a bear trap rail
Calling ghetto bird a hardflip. Damn
Sheckler cab flip was the best 9 club ever
Best nine clubs from 2023?
Has anyone ever got a 9.9?
Nyjah and Shane
You know what's not a nine? Chris on this episode.
True. He was a 10.
@@AP-op4rc another idiotic comment...
@@superxnatrl1941 awwww. Tragic.
Sls always screws over Winwood and filipe mota, and Joslin. Just seems kinda rigged against some of the newer guys
9.4 is a freaking rigged. That’s all I gotta say 👌🏼 Vincent Milou got robbed!
Nahhh giovanni vianna's fakie sugar cane is an NBD and no one else has done it for a reason.
@@billybobthekidiswack The dude ran all his tricks fakie. Stop with that bullshit as NBD crap. Let your eyes judge.
@b.l4365 dawg fakie sugarcane down a handrail is bonkers. He approaches the rail fakie and then does a blind sided alley oop (spinning the hardway) into a back smith. I've done plenty of sugarcanes and fakie blindside 180 grinds on ledges but what he did I can't even get close to it on a small ledge.
@@billybobthekidiswack I’m not saying the trick ain’t gnarly. I’m just saying that trick ain’t a 9.4. That’s bogus.
@b.l4365 nah, it's definitely a 9.4 bro. With that trick you can't see the rail until you've already locked in to the back smith. The chance of someone missing and folding on that rail doing that trick is really high. Popping fakie (or nollie) onto a handrail is already sketch since if you pop slightly to late, you'll miss the pop. Vincent's switch flip backlip is insane though.
That 5050 kick out was def not a 9 club
Idk much but can Chris do any of these tricks?
Completely irrelevant. Like, completely irrelevant.
no

i don't like chris in this video at all, i get that he's trying to be funny but sometimes it comes off like he doesn't understand and love skating like the rest, he made it even worse when he called Yuto, Sora for me
Thank god Chris isn’t judging SLS lol, dude doesn’t think a ghetto bird off an over sized 12 is a 9? Or a blunt 270 out is a 9? Like what does it take to be a nine? A yutonardo?
Also there’s context, so maybe the trick may not be a 9, but situations amplify scores at times.
Idk I think it makes it less impressive the more the same guy does the same trick… like Aurulien does a ghetto bird everytime you see him, at every spot, always… same with Kelvin, it’s always a blunt 270 or 270 blunt, every. single. time. he skates a comp. Gets old after a while imo.
NOT a ghetto bird homies... look it up
@@outtathesky yes most of us know that but in the current culture that’s what everyone calls them so it just make conversation quicker… no one cares 🤣
