What is typology and why does it matter? Reformed Rookie Web: www.ReformedRookie.com Podcast: anchor.fm/reformedrookie Facebook: / reformedrookie Semper Reformanda!
Not a hermeneutics question, but in regard to A.W. Pink interpreting the three stories of Noah representing the tripartite nature of man, I was wondering why the gentleman said dipartite? I know he said soul and spirit are interchangeable, but the conjunctive 'and' is used twice in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, so it appears there are three things being spoken of. Also, he mentioned Genesis 2:7 about man becoming a living soul so I'm sort of confused about this. A former pastor of mine said that when we are regenerated we have the life of God in us and that is the spirit of the new man, thereby making us body, soul & spirit. Lastly, Hebrews 4:12 talks about the word of God piercing even to the dividing the soul and spirit. I'm very thankful to have found your channel. Thank you.
great question! There are two main views on this: dichotomy & trichotomy, and both are acceptable. Here is a short article to read: www.gotquestions.org/trichotomy-dichotomy.html Thanks for liking the channel- blessings!
