  • Scripture tells us that we should renounce “handling the word of God deceitfully” (2 Corinthians 4:2) and that we should be “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). The Bible is the truth and as God’s people, we must be careful not to twist and incorrectly handle the Word lest we mislead ourselves and others.
But how can we know if we’re interpreting the Bible’s messages the way they were intended? How can we study Scripture and be confident that we are “thinking God’s thoughts after Him?” And once we grasp good exegetical method, how can we better apply the truth we discover into our lives?
Join Professor of Exegesis and Pastor, Jason Peters, as he answers these questions and more in our free webinar. We’re excited to share with you how to dig down to the roots of biblical texts through an exegetical process by understanding their origins, grammar, and language in a careful analytical approach!

This is all really good stuff. I’ve learned under an OT Hebrew Biblical scholar in ancient Semitic languages for around 6 years before his passing. I highly recommend people to learn this stuff. It opens the Bible up completely and brings it to life so much! I’ve never read the Bible the same way since. It brings you so close to God and helps you understand the message he was getting across to humans in a better way.

It never ceases to amaze me how so many men of God spend their time over their interpretation of HIs word and argue that they alone have the correct interpretation!

Correlation and causation are two different concepts. Simply observing police at every accident scene does not imply that they caused the accidents. Blaming the police for the accidents solely based on their presence would not be a correct conclusion. Applying a bit of exegesis to this scenario perhaps may help here. 😉

1:13:50 I find it hard to believe James is not talking about judicial forensic righteousness like Paul given: the context of Jas 2.14-26 is bound by references to judgment (Jas 2.12-13 & 3.1), James quotes the same verse as Paul does Gen 15.6 with a forensic understanding, and in Jas 2.21 arguing Abraham was justified *by God* in his intent to offer Isaac as a sacrifice (Gen 22.16-18). James' use of Wisdom does not preclude his imperatives are given in light of future judgment (Jas 5.9,12).

James Rinkevich: sorry, you are incorrect. I think you have forgotten 2Timothy 3:16 ; “all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (KJB)

Depends on one’s view of inspiration. I’ve heard different interpretations and some make pretty good sense other than the way the western mind would look at it. A lot of passages get taken out of context in the western Church. Learning to think the way an ancient Israelite would have thought about the scriptures is very helpful on how to understand God’s word as your interpreting it in its ancient culture context.

Unitarian heretics will deny the Trinity by doing eisegesis. You show them scriptures like John 1:1, Hebrews 1:8 that clearly say that Jesus is God and they will say that it doesn't mean what it says because they don't believe that Jesus is God.

  • @rinkevichjm

No where does it say scripture is inspired and if you say that Mormons and Muslims will thank you for admitting the Book of Mormon and the Koran are inspired.
