Safe Exit Assist (SEA)

Kids will be kids… and sometimes, in their haste, that may mean opening a rear door while a vehicle is approaching from behind.
Kia’s Safe Exit Assist, available on select models, provides a viable solution.
Here is what I mean:
Think of Safe Exit Assist kind of like Blind Spot Assist for those times when you are parked.
If a vehicle is approaching, It helps prevent passengers from opening their door into oncoming traffic by keeping the door locked…
Sounding an audible alert…
And displaying a warning message in the instrument cluster that says, “Check surroundings then try again.”
Now what if, as the rear door is being opened, a vehicle is detected?
In that case, the system will sound the audible alert…
And display the “Watch for traffic” warning message on the instrument cluster.
To turn on Safe Exit Assist, go to the User Settings menu…
Select Driver Assistance…
Then Blind-Spot Safety…
And select Safe Exit Assistance.
