I applaud anyone who had the mental fortitude to complete the entirety of AC Valhalla, i tried multiple times and never even got close. It's a 40 hour game dragged out to 200+ hours of content.
I dont applaud because completing crap games is not an achievement

I love FromSoftware games. Was shocked that I finished all of Dark Souls 1 remastered at 55 hours according to my PS5 account.
Elden Ring took me 165 hours to finish the main game. And total of 185 hours to finish the rest of the side bosses and my favorite game of all time.
So I hope the dlc is at least 100 hours of content 😮
I like to speculate so I'll make some guesses based on what we know so far.
- I think the DLC effectively will have around the same amount of content as Dark Souls 3, i.e. somewhere between 1/3 and half the main game of Elden Ring. (Based on dev time, the first trailer and the amount of tracks in the OST)
- I think the map won't look jaw-droppingly big at first glance, but will end up feeling enormous due to verticality and density.
- It will most likely be HARD. FromSoft always up the ante with their DLCs, and IMO Elden Ring is already their hardest game by far. Most of us will probably spend a LOT of hours butting heads with Messmer and his buddies.
- It will likely have a lot of replay value because of the new loot and build possibilities, and by extension make the entire game more exciting so revisit.
All in all I think it's safe to say there will be a lot of hours to enjoy. Can't believe we're only 3 weeks away!!

Took me 137 hours to beat Elden ring. Crazy. It felt so natural too none of it was a chore. I normally way prefer short games (8-20 hours in the sweet spot for me) I would usually steer clear of longer games because of the commitment.
Lengthy! Just finished Persona 5 for the very first time, took me 100 hours and yeah I was a little bit tired out toward the end but my goodness what an incredible game that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Also just wanted to say I don’t remember how exactly found your channel but love your videos man, you always crack me up with the “youuuu guessed it, another video”🤣keep up the good work and much love
Same I loved it and it actually got me back into turned based RPGs after a decade but man it feels like a grind towards the end.

Yeah I was so burnt out by the end of it. I played 4 golden, 3 reload, and 5 royal, and tbh 5 royal was my least favorite out of the 3
5R was more like an episodic story, which is why I think its weak. Each boss is its own seperate arc and story. Felt like those 90's episodic animes. 3 and 4 are tight, cohesive, and much more interesting. 3 dealing with suicide, bullying and death, 4 with murder, mystery and investigations, 5 was just 'KOOL KIDS DOING KOOL SHIT'
Im not bashing P5R. I still think it s great game. I have platinumed it lmao. Its just the weakest persona game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 if you’re just casually going through it was a journey as well
The longest game i've played is Baldr Sky, i did every ending on this game on the same slot so i can collect enough xp to unlock every move and create batshit insane combo. It ask me 214 hours to fully complete every route and every endings, and adding 10 hours on the survival mode because the gameplay is one of the best combat system ever made, on par with god hand in term of customisation of playstyle imo
It’s worth doing the side content in the Trails. A lot of the sidequests flesh out the world even more and develop characters. It’s especially cool in the later games where sidequests might have a returning character or two.
It's worth doing like idk, 3 of them in every game. The remaining 97 are just time wasters.

Funny part starts when you realise that Elden Ring will recieve a DLC that is as big as 40-50% of base game. I finished base game in 115 hours but I suppose there is 50 more.

I think the longest game I’ve ever played and finished is RDR2. Mainly because it was so good I 100% it and played it twice over. That’s all I played for months on end when it came out gosh 5 years ago. GTA 5 is a close contender but RDR2 is just longer and better in my opinion. Great vid!
Assassins Creed Odyssey was really long for me, I explored all the Islands and did all the side quests, haven't even started Vahalla but got it on sale. I completed Dragon quest 7 on the PS2 yearsago, took me ages 😅
Assassins Creed Valhalla is a a huge drag with its side quests. I had the same issue with Dragon Age Inquisition. the difference there was that the main quest and companion quests actually had good writing and voice acting but damn was the side content dull in both. Dragon Age Inquisition felt like an mmo but single player. Bioware needs to take notes from larian studios and cd project red on how to do engaging side content. Most side quests in cd project games have great writing on their own and make it feel almost essential to get the most out of its main narrative as well. skipping side quests in cyberpunk, the Witcher and baldurs gate 3 locks you out of so many different outcomes and added context that the games narrative doesn’t even feel complete if you haven’t done all of the major side quests.

Usually when There's a differennce in playtime for 2 different versions (original & remake) of the same game it's because of QOL and faster loading times cut down a lot from the original time.
Also because people already know how the game plays they're usually quicker to beat it and already know the better builds to play or how to solve certain puzzles. It's still the same exact game but with a few tweaks and pre knowledge of the game and it's mechanics you'd be amazed how many hours you can shave off the run time of a game.

I enjoyed it for 60 hrs and played the DLCs but got so burnt out that I could never finish it. The story is too long

Infinite wealth actually was very easy and short to complete for a yakuza game. Even yakuza 7 took longer. I would say its the shortest and easiest after yakuza 4 and 6. I clocked in at 117 hours with bonus stuff like all friends max rank that you dont even needed. But thank god they removed the rng grind in this game
Off the top of my head without real hour counts, I’m pretty sure my list would look like:
Oblivion & DLC - came out perfect time in my life and grinded out damn near everything there is to do over a summer between freshman and sophomore years of HS.
The others in no particular order (the usual culprits): Witcher 3, BoTW, ToTK, Elden Ring, Fallout 3
Overall as a dude in my early 30s, I find myself extremely hesitant to pick up any game where “length” is the sell. Give me a tightly packed 20-30 hour experience almost always now. As a lifelong Zelda fan, both BoTW and ToTK had me burnt out at the end. Elden Ring did manage to keep me engaged all the way through though despite preferring Fromsoft’s more tightly focused games.
As a father of 2 and full time job i dont have a lot of spare time to put into gaming so i only played a few games in the last 4,5 years .. but still menaged to put like 160 hours so far in elden ring ( currently playing dlc ofc ) and like 90 hours in dragon quest 11 . I love both of those .
I don’t mind the 100 hr rpg those are my favs bg3 , cyberpunk , Witcher , persona 5 , the trails series love those types of games great replay value packed with meaningful content couldn’t ask for more with games like these .
P5R platinum run was long, but worth it. I spread it out over months so it wasn’t miserable.
Great video. How did you mainline Valhalla without being super weak? I had an issue with those games where I had to grind to even do a fraction of damage to normal enemies, regularly. Valhalla seems to be worse with this but not sure I played that one. I went through Odyssey and had enough with the grinding menial tasks bullshit.
Dragons Quest 11 the complete edition, or whatever its called took me around 40-45 hours but I mostly mainlined it. I got the ending credits after 2 acts I believe, so I dont know if that was the full game.
My longest documented completions, out of over 3,000 games beaten, would probably be Persona 5, which took me around 125-140 hours of running time. Im not sure if those menus include breaks and leaving the pause menu on, but I generally dont leave games on for long periods if Im not playing.
Sekiro would be the next one at 110-120 hours. The combat mechanics NEVER clicked for me so I stubbornly bullshitted my way through the entire game by checking out Boss Cheese videos and shit like that. Still might be the hardest game Ive completed on Default difficulty, or atleast at the top. Despite being competent at hack n slash games, reaching over 40 million in Ninja Gaiden Black's mission mode, I could never get the controls and flow of combat down in that game. Im sure I was missing something. I had over 600 hours of running time on the mission mode alone and closer to 1000 on NG and the remakes of NG 1 (Sigma,Black), but mentioning only default difficulty games, not extra challenges or extreme modes. Though I dont think I ever spent 100 hours trying to beat any extreme modes in a game. God Hand took around 40 hours on Hard Mode, which was long for a game with 4 hours of gameplay.
I feel like I spent over 100 hours on Dark Wizard for the Sega CD back in ancient times, but never had recording capabilities. Some of these games I had to go by the game clock which varies in accuracy too.
Another very long one was one of the Souls games which took over 80 hours. I remember Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3 taking very long too, but I dont think quite 80 hours. Elden Ring clocked in at 77 hours on the in-game clock. That was just to beat it normally. I do side shit when Im compelled to. Mainly to level up. I go through a high volume of games with the main goal to complete a game.
MGS 5 was an awesome experience despite all the recycled content and unfinished feel. I still have alot of nostalgia for the feel and vibe, and the enjoyment I got out of the game world. I didnt have recording capabilities back in 2015, and not sure if the game had an internal clock.
It took me around 53 hours 28 minutes for Infinite Wealth. I did some side dungeons to power up and beat some of the arcade games but didnt do tons of side shit.
Still gotta finish my persona 4 gold save on PSTV. Still have to try out the latest Baldur's Gate and Armored Core 6.
As a kid, the first 3 gens of Pokemon were very LENGTHY at 100+ hrs. But persona for sure is the longest as an adult. I don't recall my playtime for the Fire Emblem games but they always felt real long when you worked on maxing out every support for the characters.
Not counting MMOs,Roguelikes or endless games the ones I can think of are the Elder Scrolls games like Oblivion and Skyrim for like 200+ hours,Elden Ring was like 160+ for me,Tears Of The Kingdom was almost 300+ hours for me with 40 of those being spent on vehicle creation.
Alot of the JRPGs I completed are in the 40-60 hours range my recent playthrough of FF7 years ago was like maybe 67 hours I think.I have played alot of RPGS but I dont think I can remember all the playtimes for each one so 40-60 is a good estimate.
I havent finished Baldurs Gate 3 yet so I dont know where that falls yet,but other then those games I dont tend to play alot of long games since I stick to action adventure mostly and I hate open world games other then a select few.

My recent games I play over 100 hours. Breath of the wild, tears of the kingdom, dragon quest 11, xenoblade 2 n 3, n the beloved like a dragon infinite wealth. Great games that i highly enjoyed my time with, never got burned out.
Put over 160 hours into Elden ring followed the fightin cowboy plat guide only to get stuck on an optional boss and not want to finish it without getting the platinum so I just gave up haha

Take a shot every time he says "long & big". The top 3 longest games I've ever beaten are Witcher 3 (148 hours total ), AC Odyssey (I actually really enjoyed it surprisingly) and Balder's Gate 3 ( 89 hours total )

AC Odyssey is my go to travel RPG, having vacayed in the Greek Islands many a time & elsewhere in the Mediterranean, the depiction of the Greek Islands & mainland Greece ie Corinth & Athens is stunning.
Good RPG also, play as Canon character Kassandra, she has some great lines. Vocally. It’s downloaded onto my new PS5 & it will never be deleted.
Great game, a departure from the AC series but a superb historical RPG.
I’ve beaten Persona 4, Golden, 5, and Royal. Currently at the end of Reload. Also though not Persona FF VII Rebirth could also be considered LENGTHY
Exploring in Elden Ring is fun but not as rewarding. 90% of the stuff I found in side quests or some corner of the maps are just not useful at all. Be it weapons or armors or spells or some weird stuff, they're usually not an upgrade to things you already have. I end up using my early weapon and armor to beat the final boss. That said, it still worth it to explore everything, because this game is so well made and beautiful and the story itself is cool enough.
Yeah the 500 Bosses, where only 13 are unique, are so well designed.
And the imbalanced and at times pointless open world was sooo great too.

Lengthy! I think the longest games I finished both took me 105 hours-Persona 5 Royal and Tears of the Kingdom.
Longest game I finished/ platinum, no dlc or anything extra. Elder Scrolls Online 654 hours give or take. Quite damn Lengthy.
Persona 5 takes the cake for me. I finished with 110 hours. The final stretch of the game was almost nerve-breaking with rhw amount of consecutive battles with me holding for my life, little to no health itens with the fear of losing two/ three hours of progress. No way I could do this today lol
Legthy! The longest game I played in my life has to be Pokemon Platin for the Nintendo DS, spent nearly 2k hours in it having every Pokemon, every Pokemon on lvl 100 etc. The 2nd most played i still play with 850h has to be Monster Hunter World + Monster Hunter World Iceborne
If you count all Final Fantasy 14 expansions as one long game, it takes about 200 hours just to beat the main story. Each expansion is a on its own a 30+ hour jrpg so add them together and you'll get the longest game I've ever beaten!

Lengthy! Longest game I have finished is AC Odyssey. I did all the trophies for both main game and the DLCs though. I still believe it's very underrated because everyone always slanders it because it has AC in the title. If it was any other game it would be better received.

I just bought Elden Ring and BG3 at the sand time because of the steam sale. I won’t need to buy another game for months because of how “lengthy” they are. Which game should I start with though?

It took me twice that long, and just about the same amount of time it took me to finish Persona 5 Royal.
Thankfully, P3R is quite a bit shorter. I do the side quests in every RPG I play, but it "only" took me 80 hours in Reload.
I only played BOTW a year befoe TOTK, since its release I have only done two temples its just SO long doing it back to back
My longest game is xenoblade 3. With the base game n dlc over 200 hours. If i didnt max out my levels n skills i would of did even more. I love that game n i hope you get around to beat it.

The game I spent the most time at was Fallout 3 with over 100 hours. I have the platnium in Elden RIng and Dark Souls 3 and they took less time. Lengthy!

Cold steel 3 took me 110 hours for 1 play through but damn was it amazing.
The longest game that took me to the credits is RDR2, but for 100%? I 100% Mario Odyssey. I do not regret it. Most fire game of that year (to me anyway). For ANYONE else I would not recommend collecting every moon but I really loved it so much and that was something I wanted to do. Truly my greatest gaming achievement. Finishing the Jump Rope Challenge was much, MUCH harder than the Darker Side. Once a sequel comes out, I'll 100% that too.

My problem with the trails series is that most of the playtime comes from unnecessary dialouge. On my second playthrough of trails in the sky i already knew which scenes were just fluff and by skipping just these scenes my playtime was only half as long as the first time, despite doing all the sidequests
Uneccicary is in the eye of the beholder. Trails is the only RPG that offers NPC's getting completely new dialogue and going about their lives between every single story beat.
That commitment is a Boon to the worldbuilding and immersion for some, and also why it still exists in every Trails game even though it triples the dialogue in every Trails/Xanadu game.
@@sherrdreamz7232 I'm not talking about that. I don't really care to much what these random npcs have to say so i never even noticed that. I'm talking about the mandatory dialouge, which in almost every trails game explains the same stuff over and over or is just some filler block of text that doesn't add anything. The pacing in the series is extremely bad because of that.
@@brotbrotsen1100 I knew what you were talking about, I was just saying how different things appeal to different people. Sure there is a good deal of "fluff" where characters comment and quip about things going on, but to most that is an extremely minor annoyance and does not "bog down" the pacing of the game.
What does bog down that pacing is what I outlined where you can go around to every NPC and they always have updated dialogue, sometimes travel and have their own entire mini storylines across multiple games. That bonus optional content is part of what places Trails above most JRPG's.
I would say to someone that is annoyed at the needless dialogue "especially in "Cold Steel Saga" that the series might not be for you. It is a massive time investment, and also going only through the main story and not doing optional often even "hidden side quests" or even occasionally experiencing what the NPC's are up to drastically demphasizes what is the Trails series greatest strength behind worldbuilding and immersion.
Essentially you can get the same value of an experience from any decent JRPG, Trails goes beyond that formula by offering an interconnected story and living breathing world with NPC's often living their own lives from one game to the next.
I reccomend you stick to more straightforward and superficial worlds with higher graphical fidelity and snappier pacing unless you just really enjoy the Trails narrative/characters.

@@sherrdreamz7232 not from my experience, in the ones i played skies 1 and 2 and azure you could cut a bunch of dialouge symply because things get repeated so often. Like in skies 1 after reaching the first bigger city with the Bazar, you get a wall of text about Estelles father for like the fifth time, telling you a bunch of stuff that was mentioned again and again at this point + a full rundown about how the city is structured. Like yeah thanks game, my brain works well enough to memorize a few plot points and i would have looked around the city anyway, you don't have to give me a essay just to let me know where the guild is and that all the important stores are in the mall like building. The game game is the antithesis of the saying "show, don't tell", where the developers seemingly don't trust you to understand anything without them rambling on for a thousand words to explain the simplest thing.
I also never said anything about the graphics, don't know where this is coming from, I'm pretty fond of the PSP astethics of the early games.
But yes i already know by now that the franchise isn't for me, never found the world or the characters all that interesting and the stories in the games i played where slow burners with barely any climax and heavy pacing issues. It's not like i want superficial worlds, i just wasn't impressed by the world the series builds up, it was just nothing that catched my interest.
The games you listed aren't really ones i enjoyed either, though i haven't played rebirth and probably will never play it.
Among my favorites are the SMT games and older final fantasy games up to 12, my overall favorite jrpg is probably chrono trigger.
Oh unicorn overlord was also pretty good, vanillaware games in general really.
@@brotbrotsen1100 too many people slept on 13 Sentinels, it had the greatest story in videogame history probably. The Strategy gameplay was pretty decent aswell.

P5R put my relationship to the test.
Lengthy. I've sunk a loooot of time into red dead one re-release and red dead two...way more than I even care to admit. I completed a bunch of the old final fantasy games on ps1- I think 9 took the longest. Right now, I'm playing Rise of the Ronin- and it's honestly the most fun I've had with a game in years. I get why it gets hate- the beginning in slow and awkward, and the out of the box graphic settings make it look ugly. That said, if you tweak it to prioritize graphics, set the frame rate, and remove the stupid "film grain" and other "cinematic camera effects", it looks and runs great. Do that, and actually take the time to learn one of the 30 some weapon techniques, and it's a blast.

Metal gear solid V was so good. Its the best spy and metal gear game ever imo. Still very underrated. One of the greatest games ever. Finished it twice.

Just finished playing Dragon quest 6 took me 65 hours.
I’m hella slow at “lengthy” games compared to this dude! 😂 Witcher 3, 330 hours with both DLC and most of side content but no Plat, Elden Ring took me like 130 to do the platinum but just 1 play through save scummed the endings, I have like 230 hours now with additional playthrus, prob like 150 into Persona 5 have 200 plus in most FromSoft Games but that is with multiple playthroughs for the plats.

So why did I spend a lot of time on a game. I will use fallout 4 as an example. First It's a big open world so there's a lot to find.There were a lot of dlcs, 4 of which added extra length. A lot of side activities like looting, crafting, modding, building etc. Many ports, I played on PS4 vanilla, PC with mods and PS5 next gen. Multiple playthroughs for whatever reasons. Playing on high difficulty sometimes you need to grind. Achievements of course.
Persona 5 Royal is so lengthy. It's my most-played game. Took me close to 125 hours on my first playthrough and loved ever fuckin minute!
Played ? Who knows. But to finish? I'd say elden ring. I did EVERYTHING in a single playthrough. Literally the only achievements I need are to get 2 different game ends. It took me 135 hours but im like 99 percent sure I beat every boss and did every dungeon.
Edit: now thinking about it I have 450 hours in Digimon Cyber Sleuth. But only because I would leave my pc on. The longer you waited the stronger your Digimon would become when they digivolve. So I don't know if I should count that but it at least deserves a mention

Agree with the issues with valhalla. 95% of the game was just playing village politics.

@@shinobly I feel elements of it was interesting as a lot of the story when going through the arcs did related to finding members of the order which helps. The missions related to finding Fulke and Sigurd mattered a lot to the grander story involving the Isu and the generally assassin's creed narrative and felt that could have been thrown in a lot more. The weight of that narrative and what the story was trying to convey about the sage project came too late and the Havi segments were confusing. It took a video to explain that Juno, Minerva and Jupiter were Jotuns and that coukd have been done more obviously.
@@shinobly also the location just made it hard for me to enjoy all that. I do wish they stuck with scandanavia rather than the premise of england as a means to play as a viking invading the country. I just imagine what they could have done with that setting.

Well.... Elden Ring .. one of my runs was long. Real real real long lol.. I can't remember exactly but at the time. God of war 1,2 or 3. They all felt pretty long. Idk. Fuck it. But I loved this video. Got me thinking. Thanks for the content!!

How did you finish P5R and P3R so quickly? I can only imagine it wasn't your first time playing them or and you skipped all the dialogue and did none of the extra stuff like Elizabeth's quests in P3R and barely any mementos requests in P5R.
@@rikudoubapeck I speedran mementos in P5R to the bottom and the dungeon in P3R to the top. They were not fun enough for me and pretty much time waster

Currently playing Persona 5 and LAD IW at the same time! Really enjoyable experience so far. I've played AC Valhalla for 40 hours just then dropped it because how bloated the game is..

Just finished rdr2 single player with 100 hours and platinumed ac odyssey, But uninstall ac valhalla after 12 hours. The problem is not the length, its the boring tedious game itself that brings no joy to the player. Ac valhalla is the best example. Boring game stretched out 60 hours too much and for no return, no feeling of completion. Long games need this thing, otherwise they feel bloated for the sake of making people play it, like gacha games or d4, or ow2 does it with fomo. That's why all these companies do battle passes, plus dlc, plus paid extra content. Because they know their game is just there for people to waste time with no return or accomplishments.
