#metalgearsolid #mgs #metalgear - Hry
Peace Walker didn't deserve to be so low on this list imo. It was actually a pretty good game in a lot of ways. And it paved the way for MGSV
Peace walker was decent but has a ton of flaws
Very bad boss fights, the grinding to get the true ending, the stealth missions being ridiculously easy
It's basically mgs 5 if it was lame
Peace walker was made for psp it was okie game at that time
And that's the why I don't like MGS V. I don't understand why Kojima choose this style.
You bloody fool peace walker was popular, portable ops its what is underrated. Needs a good remasterd : )
@@GameBoyyearsago bro 1st learn to respect everyone opinion as kojima change whole style of metal gear solid to complicated game start from peace walker even I tried couple times couldn't liked it
man, you really done Portable Ops dirty with that name lmao
Metal Gear Solid when Wooden Rod Soft walks in
😂😂😂
Sonic the hedgehog when IHOP the Cheetah strolls into the function
The opposite of solid would probably be liquid
The opposite of soft is hard
@@orzen_the_orzo933 yeah but there’s literally a liquid snake so like cmon bro
@@orzen_the_orzo933 Liquid Snake Already Exists In The Games LoL
mgs2 and mgs3 just had a certain magic to them. they were released in the early2000's and the fact that you could shoot a radio out, or call off an alert by discovering the enemies codec frequency and putting it in manually. it was so realistic for its time, and the neat part is, it still is. the later games did too, but because of how classic those old games are, it makes it so much more special for its time. they looked amazing for their time, especially mgs2.
you can also eat ''the ends'' parrot :p did this on my 5th playthrough or something, couldnt believe it mgs 3 is hands down the best game you can ever play
In mgs 2 the freaking ice cubes at the bar in the tanker mission literally melt over time...the game was just packed with an immense amount of detail. I was running MGS 1 and my roommate who is a 2000's baby was watching and said "they can track you through foot prints??? That's advanced" he has no idea how detailed games were back then
With the Camo, food and health systems I think MGS 3 is more advance than many games today
Metal Gear Solid for me is the best in the series. It's the first game I played in the series, much like most, but I loved everything about it at the time. The way Kojima broke the 4th wall with the Psycho Mantis boss fight blew my mind as a 13 year old, making Psycho Mantis my favorite boss in the entire series.
I like how many different camo patterns you could have in MGS3. My favourite was BRICKS!
The goofy half American half Soviet was my favorite. Even something goofy like the bees or fox camo could theoretically be useful, the flag one was bonkers
Squares?
@@PattyOflan88it is like the sneaking suit but Soviet soldiers hesitate to shoot you
sneaking suit 🐐
@Koichi-Kun I didn't know that thats cool
MGS1 is numberr one for me for several reasons.
- Superior setting and atmosphere. You can't beat snowy night infiltration in a big base hiding a super weapon at its core.
- Foxhound members and other characters like Gray Fox are the most iconic in the series with most depth and backstory, nothing comes close to having the same impact as Psycho Mantis fight, Sniper Wolf and Gray Fox's deaths, Liquid's twist etc
- David Hayter's best and most natural performance
I love how you snuck in the Soviet theme from Timesplitters 2 at 28:10... Instantly brought back some awesome memories. The PS2 era was SO good!
Rising is fun as hell. MGS1 made a huge impact on the gaming world on PS1 at the time. Made a Nintendo fan go PS2 next generation and never leave. Got a PS5 today lol
Kind of funny now since Metal Gear Solid 1 2 and 3 are now on the switch.
@@karatebat5156 for sure, I own a switch. But once again pulled the trigger on Sony product (ps5) because of metal gear delta.
I’m glad you’re one of the few that put GZ as its stand alone cause that’s what Konami sold it as. A 1 hour tech demo for $40
That Game is the sole reason why I’m into metal gear 😂 the most epic shit I’ve ever seen
$40 damn that's expensive for a 1 hour game
Anyone who thinks GZ is a 1 hour demo, missed the point. It was the first MGS game with sandbox gameplay. It's the reason why I still play V several years later and I'm just as entertained as the first time I've played it.
The joy of GZ is literally treating it like a trials game where the objective is to get tighter and tighter changing the perfect run through.
As someone who’s only played MGS4 & MGSV… I can’t wait to play the whole VOL. 1 collection and Delta
Those three function very different, and regardless of the changes they make I will always recommend the originals.
Damn, I love mgs4 but starting with it, is even worse than starting with Avengers end game.
@@idontwant2beasoldiermama241 I do wish I got to see Snakes past before his death. But it was so great if a game it got me into the whole lore and story.
Can’t wait to play the beginnings of his story and as big boss 🙏🏼
@@idontwant2beasoldiermama241 I started with V and bro I had never been more confused than the opening. After listening to a couple tapes I had to go back and watch every game on CZcams. I got the legacy collection shortly after. Still haven't fully completed V
That’s really rough to start with 4 or 5
the thing with rising was that after mgs 4, kojima wanted to do a melee action action game based on the metal gear universe and og wanted it to star grey fox, but the people at kojima productions really really wanted raiden instead so he went with it. kojima wouldnt be apart of the project as he was working on both PW and the fox engine. the game originally was gonna take place in between 2 and 4. unfortunately issues would arise in development with the team just not really knowing what to do with the game and decided to just scrap it and outsource it. being impressed with bayonetta, they chose platinum
Great video, great to hear the appreciation on every title
I don’t even remember any of the gameplay from 4. I only remember cutscene after cutscene. It’s like ten hour movie that lets you play little mini games as an intermission.
That was a nice Blow Me Away reference in the Portable Ops section 😂
Metal Gear Solid and MGS3: Snake Eater are my faves. I'm very excited for the collections since I wanna try get back into the franchise since I haven't played PW or even MGSV.
This being my introduction into gaming as a kid from my grandpa, nothing has felt as good since nothin better than first 2 metal gear solid games
The music in Metal Gear 2 is also really good, my hot take is that it has the best soundtrack of the whole lot
I don’t think that’s a hot take at all
Gonna watch this and give myself the excuse to play through every game in canonical order just to see how I rank them
Play them on release order
Hey I'm glad you gave mgs4 some love, i recently finished mgs4 and i absolutely really enjoyed it, I've only finished mgs2 and mgs3, but honestly understood the story and the characters, while i haven't finished or played mgs1, i understand it's story. But mgs2 takes the cake for me, simply because it was my first mgs game, and I've never had an experience like mgs2 before, it's gameplay or it's story.
did you play through pcsx3?
@@thomasvettikad you mean RPCS3, and no I did not, I played it on my ps3, better to play on original hardware.
It’s a decent movie
Thank you for including portable ops
Was introduced to metal gear by my uncle watching him play through mgs 3 for the first time when I was 7 years old and I’ve been addicted ever since
I skipped through to see where MGS4 was placed to see if this was worth watching or not. MGS4 was ranked highly, so I shall watch this.
MGS4 is a phenomenal game, such a shame that so many people can’t see that truth lol…
Agreed❤
Mgs4 is so good. It's my 2nd favorite metal gear game after metal gear solid 2. Mgs4 is better than mgs3 I think.
100% agree.
Is that a game or a interactive movie?
I feel like it's the least memorable, I bearly rember anything from it other than it has crazy long cut scenes but nothing of the actual game
Fuck it’s nice that mgs is in the conversation finally
"You lean up against the wall-the suit becomes the wall." You pour water into the cup - it becomes the cup. Be formless my friend, like water.
I really want a full 3D remake of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2
I love how you said it's a spoiler-free video and yet the cutscenes you put in are full of spoilers lmao
Great video. 2 is my favorite game of the ever, but I definitely expected 3 to be number one. Both are fantastic, as are basically every Metal Gear game.
Oh, and bricks. 😂
I’ve played most if not all MGS games and alone have like 500 hours in MGS3 because I’ve played it a billion times and it’s still a game I’ll always go back to
Mgs 3 was the first ever mgs game i've ever played and it made me fell in love with the mgs franchise man. I'm just happy they decided to make mgs delta
FYI - Hitting Ground Zeros for its price tag is a Konami issue, not a Metal Gear issue. It actually was free at first because essentially Kojima DID release it as a demo. Konami just re-released it later on a price tag to milk MGS for what money they could after screwing their relation with Kojima.
Indeed. Ground Zeroes is like Tanker Chapter of MGS2, you can't consider The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes as two different games. It's MGS V as a whole game.
MGS 3 was my first Metal Gear game. It is probably the game I'll look back the most fondly on the older I get, especially if the remake hits right. The exposition of the game is pure hype, and the climax of the virtuous mission is this sharp wakeup slap that leads to the game beginning once again with entirely new context. The jungle stuff, especially for a PS2 game is handled perfectly. It's very immersive caring for Snake, as you chow down some food, dig out some bullets, and plan your next move while you hunker down to regain full HP. It also functions fully as a movie experience with a story that I think is cooler than any 007 movie that ever came out. I think MGS3 is one of the best movies ever made and a pretty damn good game
Good on you, as it is the first game chronologically.
My first metal gear game as well, simply amazing, one of the greatest of all time. Used to be my favorite, but playing some of the games the second time around (it used to be 3, 4, then 1 and 2, and I didn't like 5 much at all) now the list would be more like (2, 3, 1, 4 and 5 being tied, but most importantly, I grew to love 5 in my own way knowing the ending involves the body double)
@@tebander956 That also explains why Big Boss survived after the MSX Metal Gear 1 leading into Metal Gear 2. The body double thing was actually way cool, but I havent been able to get back into MGS 5 since it first came out. I get bored of its gameplay
@alegotronnortogela7695 it wasn't finished, it needed one more year of developing
I was gonna criticize you for breaking Grounds Zero and MGS V as two separate entries on your list but you then made a very compelling argument at the end of your comment and I totally agree with you. If Konami released it as a standalone game in the first place then it should totally be ranked in the list as a separate entry.
You deserve a medal for saying that portable ops and rising are cannon
loved how you could fast forward the time on your PlayStation and kill the end immediately lol
Great video , loved it .
No. I don't think you're crazy or stupid. This is YOUR list and reasons why.
Here's my hot-take (or cold-take lol) list:
11. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Why? Same reason as you.
10. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Why? Honestly, the weakest to me, the controls were atrocious & didn't really get into the story, tho i did like Gene.
9. Metal Gear
Why? I played this decades after if came out. But it's hard to get into since it is so aged out now. Still, I like it the idea of Solid Snake infiltrating Outer Haven storyline. We need a remake of this!
8. Metal Gear 2
Why? Same as above, but instead of just Snake's story, it is also Big Boss'.
7. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Why? Not much bad things to say. It's an overall great game. Pretty much on par with what you said.
6. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Why? Gameplay is the best in the series (i have the most hours here than any other MGS game) but the story failed me... at a disappointing level that I thought I'd never reach with a MGS game...
5. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Why? For the time it came out, it was a amazing, damn near a masterpiece for fans of the MGS series & pretty much everything else you said. Also, it was my online game for some years straight.
4. Metal Gear Solid
Why? My 1st MGS game, it was a masterpiece when it first came out, the lore, atmosphere, suspense, and thrill is unlike anything I've played since. A remake of this title would be insane! Graphics and the entire Shadow Moses playable as one gigantic sandbox, etc. One can dream, eh?
3. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Why? A nice continuation of Big Boss' story and the precursor to Outer Haven. Really liked the idea of being Big Boss, recruiting soldiers, building Mother Base, growing your army. MGSV should've done much more than Peace Walker in this department but can't have everything you want, huh?
2. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Why? My fav genre in gaming is "Hack-n-Slash". Now, imagine my surprised that my fav game series, MGS, made a game in my fav genre? Absolutely this was gonna be near my top MGS game of all time.
1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Why? Pretty much everything you said. The masterpiece of all MGS games. I will never forget this game. It was the very best 6th generation of gaming, for me, and one of my all time favorite games.
MG1 and 2 above GZ and PO?
Those games are outdated in gameplay and the stories aren't really fleshed out.
@@NobleBoss you're right, but that's why I said the idea of it; & GZ is one mission, I can't let that go.... (yes, yes more mission but same map / layout)... essentially, a demo.... & I just didn't like PO, the story was almost as bad as TPP but at least TPP had great gameplay... PO had nothing for me except Gene
@@eltren6120it's the one of the best experience in mgs. I'd put GZ behind MGS3. It's my 2nd favourite game. As a product it's overpriced but I got it in the definitive edition which was bundled with PP.
But could you elaborate on PO story? I thought it was much better than Phantom Pain. I'd even rank it above PW (neither are my favourite story tho) mainly because Coldmans a weak villain and bringing the boss back as an robotic ai was kind of a cheap way to accelerate Big Boss development and I was glad ground zeroes had moved past that but then his story basically ended after that since he wasn't the protagonist of PP
still looking for the sniper rifle in
Metal Gear Zero see we need that gun to helo us a lot more with the mission lets find it or can some one can tell us where that gun is ?
Just started getting into metal gear this year and didn't know which ones to play lol
I was lucky enough to play every main game very close to their release. So, as a 20+ fan, this is my top:
1. MGS1, undisputed #1. Still feels innovative today. Best story, characters, bosses...
2. MGS4, the perfect conclusion to the saga. I believe if it all really ended here, everything would've been PERFECT. Almost equivalent to the first game, for its era.
3. MGS2, an awesome sequel, though a little unpolished sometimes. Along with 1 and 4 conform an UNBEATABLE trilogy.
4. MGS3, everyone's favorite, but started to feel a little dated (wish it had Peace Walker's gameplay! The HD remaster's). Story will mess you up (in the best way), though.
5. MGSPW, speaking about the HD remaster: what a blast! Feels "smaller" compared to the others, but still a worthy entry in the series and ROCK SOLID gameplay.
6. MGS5, the worst of the bunch story-wise and that's the main attraction of MGS games for me. I played it a lot, but never felt it was all that rewarding. Its open world feels empty, missions feel padded, the 2nd part is confusing and almost unnecessary... and YES, it feels unfinished. The least polished of them all, but still a good game for the "fun" factor, I guess.
7. MGSR, it was fun playing as super Raiden, but I forgot about it as soon as I finished it.
8. MG and MG2, respect for them. That's all.
MGS1 hands down. It’s incredible
You can also takeout all the enemies non lethally in MGS1
nope at least 8 kills needed
I went back to the first metal gear and loved it gave me that nostalgia feeling then went to the second dang was it a lot harder
Kojima called Rising a parallel story - the same thing he referred to Survive as. Kojima also didn't include it in the timeline. Rising being canon is a myth. It's a fun game, but it's definitely not canon at all.
Metal Gear fans create the canon on the fly. Is Portable Ops canon? Depends on who you ask. Is MGR canon? Depends who you ask. Twin snakes? Depends on who you ask
Its literally a prequel to 4.....its literally what Raiden was up to before MGS4...The MGS team are the ones who wrote the story for Revengance, Platinum did nothing but develop the gameplay.
@@lutherheggs451 MGR takes place AFTER 4. The original story was set before 4 but it was changed when Platinum took over.
Here's the canon section of the comments I was looking for. Ops WAS canon. So much so it was shown off in the cutscene with Naomi in Act 2 of MGS4. after peace walker came out Kojima said the events in ops happened but there are certain points that conflict with the timeline. I'd argue it was Peace walker that conflicted with the timeline. To me Ops is canon. As for MGR, it was originally supposed to take place between 2 and 4 but Kojima outsourced it to Platinum so he could work on 5. MGR takes place after 4 as Platinum tells it so I don't see why not consider it cannon as it doesn't conflict with the storyline at all. That being said. I believe it boils down to the individual whether a game is "canon" and we shouldn't bewilder people if people say something is or isn't Canon
It's canon. Kojima got fired
good list, I completely agree with the gz rank.
My top three are
1. Snake Eater -> 2. Peace Walker (If Co-op then number 1) -> 3. MGS1
MGS2 is the pinnacle of the series for me.
My Top 10 MGS Games are:
10. MGSVR Missions
9. MGS5GZ
8. MGSPW
7. MGRR
6. MGS5PP
5. MGSTTS
4. MGS4
3. MGS2 Substance
2. MGS1
1. MGS3 Subsistence
Definitely loved Metal Gear 2 and 3 the most especially number 3 which i think was definitely my personal favorite of the series
When you say 2, do you mean Solid Snake or Sons of Liberty?
Your order was fair. I appreciate how high up you put MGS5. Been a life-long MGS fan and never agreed with the amount of hate that one got. It might have been unfinished and replaying all the missions again seemed lazy, but for what we got I was more than happy. And I really liked Kiefer as Big Boss. David Hayter will always be a legend but there's a campiness to his performances where I think it might not have gelled as well with the more serious and dark tone of MGS5.
It's the lack of engagement with the story itself imo (first games was MGS1). It never held you in the moment by moment storytelling the others did (for better or for worse). I've come to have a great appreciation for 5 as time goes on, even in the meta commentary that you were never him to begin with, so you're building the "legend" of BB in his stead. All good and fine, but at least with the narrative cluster fuck that was Guns of The Patriots, I was invested in seeing every step of the story.
But you're a different guy genetically, so I guess it fits a different "game"
I stopped watching when metal gear shadow Moses was put at number 5 😮🤔😢
@@metalgear9089 Yeah that one is my true number 1 probably. It's tough though because 2 and 3 are so good too.
I also love Phantom Pain! I think it's an awesome game and I actually was very compelled by the story. I couldn't wait to experience each part of the story.
Gameplay with endless possibilities is everything for me, so MGSV TPP it is. No other game even comes close.
i know it wasn't here, but take a look at Pops plus Infinity Mission mode, im not asking you to play it, but just look at it
Endless possibilities to do what, fool around with the predictable and unrealistic A.I who can't see a couple miles in front of them? plus the world is really dead, MGS4 as much as I dislike it knew how to represent a conflict zone far better in its first chapter.
@@duncanmacleod7287 well, mgs4 had a great gameplay but you barely get to play it, mgs5 in the other hand...
I know a lot of people don't agree but of been playing MGS since the very begining but my faviorte games are part 3 Snake eater and number 4 Guns of the patriots or sons of liberty everything about those games were amazing best storys game play everything and onething I thought was funny part 4 learned and got somethings from Resident Evil 4 and Snake Eater and than Resident Evil 5 and 6 learned from MSG 4 a great cycle
Is it just me or did you add the death note music in the background
This one of the few rankings I actually mostly agree with. I feel like the majority of hardcore mgs fans who rank this series put the first 3 games as the top 3, and put 5 and 4 as the absolute worst of the series. I’ve always very much disliked that as 5 and 4 both have a lot to offer that the hardcore fans often don’t admit.
If you’re interested here’s my ranking:
1. MGS3
2. MGS4
3. MGS2
4. MGSV (if you include GZ in it, it’s number 3 and MGS2 is number 4)
5. MGS PO
6. MGS PW
7. MGS1
8. MG2: SS
9. MG
What about metal gear rising? That was the most fun I ever had playing a game and listening to music
My ranking would be

2. MGS4
3. MGS1
4. MGS2
5. MGS5
6. Metal Gear Rising
6. Peace Walker
7. Ground Zeroes
I think MGS1 and MGS3 really benefit from being self-contained perfect spy thrillers with a strong setting that elegantly introduce the main character.
i got into MGS 5 ever since i saw a gameplay video of at the time my favourite youtuber 2j because he played this game and icl, i loved it so much i stopped watching the gameplay right after snake was hiding behind those like curtains or whatever i dont rly remember it that well but i did remember i liked the atmosphere of the begining who knows maybe the story is disappointment afterwards but the start has been stuck to me ever since and i rly wanna play it now that the MGS3 remake is also coming out and thank god its gonna be on pc aswell aswell as another game i saw and fell in love with back then called the arkham knight ever since i saw that diner scene back when i was like 12 i knew i was gonna love the game and i did. 8 years later i finally paid for the game and played it, safe to say it was the best 300 hours of my life XD

i'm really looking forward to playing delta.
You had the decency putting mgs 4 better than mgs 5 , thank you.
It his really hard to choose a favouriet mgs , but your list i can follow
I wish they were including the original versions of MG1 and MG2 on the new collection. Aside from the newer ports running at lower framerates than the originals, I kinda miss the animated portraits for the radio transmissions in 2 and imho the new ones look kind of crude even though they are based on the art direction the series is known for. That being said I'm sure they couldn't even if they wanted due to the likenesses of some of the character.
They are including MG1 and 2!
@@adamfurnish8481 I know, when I say original I mean the actual MSX versions (emulated) as opposed to the early 2000s cell phone games that were rebuilt from the ground up in Javascript. They may have a few QOL features but they run choppy and the sound is weird with baked in reverb for some reason.
If you had an Xbox you can play all the original msx
I can't agree with the Ground Zeroes placement. But I totally understand. 😢

i’m still kind of mad we got robbed of getting another mgs game with a playable solid snake in his prime
Ridge racer bg music never misses
Mgs ground zeros was so good it raised expectations for mgs 5 to the sky
Metal gear solid twin snakes is my favourite just because it's a better looking version on mgs 1 on PS1 and that was my first metal gear solid experience
The PS1 version is better. I say this as someone with no nostalgic attachment to the original and who actually played and completed TTS first about 5 years before playing the OG version. The graphics are shit yes, but the soundtrack, voice acting, cutscenes, atmosphere, and everything else is better about it. When I played TTS, for instance, I found Sniper Wolf's death forgettable, but the original version made me cry.
One of the problems with TTS is that the MGS2 gameplay nerfed the difficulty. New gameplay mechanics should always mean new challenges.
If they ever remake MGS1 again they need to totally reimagine it.

kinda weird bcz GZ somehow is more stealth & tactical than TPP.
@@kellenmoon3084 fair enough, but I believe that, no matter how much the series has tried to push that name, it has never really been about stealth. Unlike games like Splinter Cell, you can try to stealth your way around the game, but there are always alternative ways of moving forward.
Metal gear solid V was by far the best game so far imo. Mgs 3 Snake eater will get a remake!
“The length is the biggest issue” that’s what she said
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! I loved it. Perfect timing. Thanks!!
MGS 1 is the greatest game of all time. No question ✌️
Always was tough ranking my absolute favorite movies, games, and music. GOW, MGS, always difficult to place which were the best. But mgs feels almost impossible considering the fact that every single one from 1-5 stands out in their own ways
1 has the best soundtrack and atmosphere
2 has the best story
3 checks off literally every single box without losing quality
4 has the best cut scenes and MGO 2 was the best MGO experience
5 was freedom, and a great way to expand upon Peacewalker
I've heard of Outer Heaven. Where was Outer Haven?
I think 3 is the best, but the first metal gear solid will always be my favourite. Completely blew me away when it came out
I hope we get portable ops in volume 2… it’s the only one I havnt played
You can actually use the mgs3 camo system in mgs4
I’ve never played MGS4! Hopefully the Master Collection Vol 2. will have it!!
Portable ops is my second favorite mgs game. Its literally mgs 3-2
I find the story great and it's way better then peace Walker. Peace walker does have better controls though.
One thing about V gameplay. The boss fights are mostly bullet sponges.
i will be honest. Metal Gear Solid 5 as a whole completely killed any excitement i could have for any future installments. The story was ridiculous. It was full of fan-service for the sake of fan-service (liquid, mantis, volgin, etc...), and the metal gear was stupidly advanced (for being way before Metal Gear 1)... I wouldn't even put it in the top 5... Only benefit it has is gameplay being a lot of fun for a while. The only thing it adds to the story is how Big Boss survived because we're led to assume Venom Snake was the one killed in the original Metal Gear games.
The franchise ends with Metal Gear Solid 4 to me... It wraps up every story line that needs to be finished. Metal Gear Solid 5 adds nothing unlike 3, which gives us a whole lot of context on Big Boss amongst other characters already in the series.
For me, MGS4 > MGS 3 > MGS1 >MGS2 > Peacewalker >MG2 > MGS5 (accounting for both... Even if i ignored Ground Zeroes, this is ridiculous) > Poops = MG1
But I will say I am extremely happy that they are releasing the Master Collection for PS5... and not only that, it's coming to Xbox, Switch and PC as well. People will finally be able to enjoy this incredible series without having to own the PS3... Can't wait for Vol 2. I wonder what it will have outside of MGS4 and Peacewalker. I can pass on MGS5 :)... I wonder if Revengence will be included.

2. MGS1
3. MGS2
4. MGS4
5. MGS5
MGS3 MGS1 MGS2 are all MasterPieces and MGS is my Favorite VideoGame Series of All Time
MGS4 & 5 are the best if you’re not taking Nostalgia into account
@@dreworyan5652 MGS5 was a slap in the face
honestly agree with this list except for the mgs2 and 4 spots swap those two and I would say that it's perfect and it's not because you play as raiden but more because I wasn't drawn to the story as much then 4
Great video and for one who's recently gotten into the series, I'm really excited for the Snake Eater remaster being done.
I LOVE Phantom Pain!!! I also liked Ground Zeroes, but more as a once in awhile experience. But Phantom had me engaged through the whole story and still captures my attention with my favorite gameplay to date
I heard you recap the Snake Eater story and being such a a huge fan of Phantom, I was like...."that ties into Phantom and Ground Zeroes so well that I gotta experience Snake Eater!"
I love the stealth of that game hiding in the grass knowcking to lure enemies while you point the gun twhere they will come through to hold them up immediatly
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops isn’t canon. Hideo Kojima confirmed this.
The video he states that it has small parts that are correct. But mostly incorrect.
You can find this video just by searching the basic question “is Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops canon” in the search bar. It’s the minute long video with Hideo Kojima.
The video by Jose Melinas.
Also MGS4 is on PS4 as digital. I don’t know why no one knows about this?
Portable ops is canon, there is literally a video where kojima says it is a part of the saga.
And the game is referenced in mgs4 and pw
@@NobleBossdid you not look up the video I referenced. He said it had parts of it that are partially right.
Just because it has some story that Hideo created in it. Doesn’t mean because they reference it in another game make it canon.
They just talk about main story points in Portable Ops, that are already in the script for the main titles regardless if Portable Ops was created or not.
This would also mean EVERYTHING from Portable Ops would be canon then. Like Gene.
@@JSledge825 not everything is canon in mgs. Like the monster hunter missions in PW aren't canon nor are the Paz date mission.
Same goes for PO, stuff like meeting Eva isn't canon but the main story is
The impact of the 1st game on ps1 damn
Waiting for MGS 4 on X-Box Series
To quote the great somecallmejohnny "peace walker does not care about portable ops"
including the kojimas other works my list would be from worst to best (i still have yet to beat ttp)
mg1
mg2
twin snakes
policenauts
PW
mgs4
GZ
snatcher
MGR
DS
mgs 1
mgs 3
mgs 2
Mgs 4 isn't liquid snake it's liquid ocelot
MGRR is my first MGS game and my FAVORITE i'm adddicted to that game
Kojima wasn't involved with portable ops or rising
Ghost Babel is absolute quality
I really appreciate the video and the fact that you're doing this free form. I gotta say though that you repeat yourself a lot and the speed in which you're are taking is very irritating for me. This is meant as kind feedback :) thanks for this I enjoyed my time!
My favorite is MG2 on the MSX2
So glad MGR is getting some love, Been replaying it on revengeance difficulty lately and it really is one of my favorite games of all time!
its not just me right, revegence is easier than very hard right?
@@BigBossultrastealth Lmao all you have to do is parry everything😂⚔️
@@PFScorpion no i mean like it just feels easier, maybe enemies are less aggressive or something
@@BigBossultrastealth Idk I never played hard, only normal and revengeance lol.
@@BigBossultrastealth On Revengeance diffuculty the are some enemies where the shouldn't be, to make things harder. For example, in the Prologue you should start with 3 normal enemies, while on Revengeance you have 3 normal enemies and A GEKKO!
Or at the start of chapter 1 you have 3 normal enemies and a Mastiff
I feel like mgs3d should be on the list as a separate game, kojima had involvement, but mgs3d plays differently compared to mgs3 subsistence and mgs snake eater, I get they are the same game in terms of story, but it's different in a way.
I've never seen a video that repeated itself more than those one. My God
heres timestamps for people that wanna the ranking in short.

To show appreciation on my comment, rocksteady if youre reading this, delete the suicide squad game and make a red hood game, unless insomniacs reading this then,
PLEASE GIVE US A PC PORT FOR SM 2 AND WOLVERINE ILL DO ANYTHING PLEASE
and incase konamis reading this then, hurry up and drop the mgs3 remake
oh and, if Saber Interactive is reading this, take your time guys, haha dont fuck up the story and make the graphics good cuz that would be very ironic to the original release
and if youre from the embracer group...
fuck you...
Thanks
I never really considered Portable Ops to be canon with the rest of the series since Hideo Kojima didn't really write and direct it. It doesn't really add anything aside from Big Boss creating his Mother Base, along with his army of mercenaries. Besides, Peace Walker did a far better job with that.
As for I how I rank these games:
12. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
11. Metal Gear (1987)
10. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
9. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
8. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
7. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
6. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
5. Metal Gear Solid (1998)
4. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (the game that got me into the series, no joke)
My top 3 are actually interchangeable with each other, meaning I can put them in any order. Since each title has one aspect that makes them stand out as the strongest entries. They are my personal trifecta of the series.
3. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (gameplay)
2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (themes)
1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (story)
Portable Ops is canon. And peace walkers story was serviceable but it wasn't any better.
None of the games after the original trilogy had amazing writing.
Also the MSX games are the worst. They were good for their time but their outdated. And yes even Ground Zeroes is better even with its short length. It's the best slice of MGSV.
@@NobleBoss Portable ops ain't canon, what are you talking about?
@@0Chino13wtf are you on?
The creator of the series literally said it was and he referenced in 2 of his games. Who do you think you are to judge?
@@NobleBoss Kojima said he sees pops as something separated from the saga, and the only real reference to pops in a different mgs was in PW, in which it's literally called crap. And on top of all that, pops hasn't been in an Official time line since 2012, so not only Konami says it's not canon, kojima himself says it
@@NobleBoss Sorry if it came out as harsh, with all this i forgot to say that Pops WAS canon, it was around 2012 when it completely disappeared from the timelines, since then there's no mention of it, some things like Eva's plane crash in POPS are mentioned again but with the crash site changed from San Heronimo to Hanoi, reusing the idea but changing it a bit to avoid linking it to POPS, also here's the Interview that i mensioned: czcams.com/video/MLWpMc30gTo/video.html
it was later known that Ken Mendoza (the translator of the interview) that the reason why Kojima's wording is so vague is because Ken had to be quick translating it. Fox Topus made a better translation of it and it says this: "Umm, how to say this... rather than saying whether it's main story or not, uhh... it's more like, *within me things are expressed as a division* between those "A Hideo Kojima Games" that i directed/wrote/designed, and those things where i was producer".
As you can see, Kojima doesn't considers POPS as part of his work, but for some that doesn't means much about the canonicity of POPS, but later on POPS was removed/not included in the timelines, including the ones from the credits of the games.
