- 10 TIPS you need to know in Landscape Photography - In this video, I reveal a credible set of tips that really matter in Landscape Photography.
Last week I travelled to the Isle of Harris & Lewis to run a workshop. When I was there I thought I would create a video revealing top tips in Landscape Photography that really do matter!
These tips were offered to me by my Facebook Subscribers. They were suggested when I asked my members for their top tips. The only rule was that tips could only be suggested in just 3-words.

Great video as usual Gary. Love the images I did spot the Scottie dog! Those tips are really appropriate as well. Here is one more KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!! All too often I see people take stupid and dangerous risks just to get an image. It just isn't worth it sometimes, so yeah KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!! Or at the VERY minimum MANAGE YOUR RISK!! and KNOW YOUR CAPABILITIES!!

Great tips and a great video, and I loved your selection of favourites at the end. My one additional three-worded advice: Wear comfortable shoes! Whether it's a landscape shoot, a wedding shoot, being a news photographer, a fashion shoot, you might be on your feet all day, so do your feet a favour by wearing comfortable shoes that are appropriate for the conditions.
Great tip, wear comfy shoes :) I've been there with blisters and everything :)

Gary, wonderfully inspirational and helpful. Thank you. Also makes me wish I lived in England to be able to visit those places
So true Gary, I always have huge expectations but there are so many elements that make the image and just like a great meal needs all the ingredients. I recently went to Iceland and did so much research (almost to exactly where I should stand) but the weather was against me so I came away disheartened. I have since been more realistic about my expectations and I enjoy my photography much more with a relaxed approach and make it a bit more fun. I don't do it for a living so its not the end of the world if it doesn't work. Thanks for all these great tips.

Tramping here in the land of the long white cloud one camera one lens. Size and weight does matter, I’ve only ever documented the trips we’ve done. Must try and change that

"Shoot for you" That's the very thing i did when i moved away from motorsports photography. I did it for everyone else, motorsport teams, riders, riders friends and family, sponsors, spectators, you name it. I rarely did it for myself. Then i just packed in, went cold turkey. I started actually learning other areas of photography and the only person i was trying to impress was ME. Funny that the last one would be Practice. I tell my daughter that one all the time for her artwork. When she looks at my drawings or paintings and says "I will never ba able to do that" I tell her that she can, she just needs to practice, practice, practice.
