I hope you enjoy please hit like and subscribe! For reference the average price of insurance for a 20 to 24-year-old is around £1250 so 20 of these cars are slightly over or way under that figure. I hope it’s helpful!

I drove my mum’s car from 17 to 21 (1991-1994/5), as I didn’t want to own a banger just for the sake of having a car. I bought my first car at 21 which was an £800 1986 Fiesta XR2 in red. My second car came within a year and was a white 1988 Toyota Celica GT! Pretty quick for the time and the added ‘coolness’ of pop up headlights! I was, however, paying £1,380 insurance, Third Party, Fire & Theft! Completely ridiculous money back in 1995!

A car I would have put on this list would probably be an Abarth 124 spider, not the most affordable cars but god its fun, suprisingly no issues for a fiat but it sound sunreal for a 1.4, I have a fiat 124 spider S design which is basically the abarth without the interior, badge or the scorpion exhaust. Not the worst on insurance too

My 1st car was a Punto S60, total beast. I think it still holds the record for the highest average repair costs per year of any car I've owned, even though it was actually a half decent example...
From this list, the GT86 is clearly the best car, beating the porker with its far superior reliability. Still, I'd have the Pug, in that white with the black trim, since I do 😁

I get better MPG out of my 2016 290 Cupra with an ECU and TCU tune pushing out 350BHP because I don’t need to redline it going up a hill 😂 still miss my corsa for sentimental first car reasons and I preferred it to my 2018 Renault Clio I had after it

For my (technically) second car, I am going for the Cooper S, and I will be sharing it with my mum (she will own the car). I'm 18, live in East Anglia and we're being quoted just over 2 grand for it.
I currently own and drive a Yaris T Sport from 2005 and it is a brilliant first car (insurance was expensive without a blackbox tho!) So for anyone looking for a first car here, I do strongly recommend it to those that can pay over 1.5 grand per year (with a blackbox), as they are incredibly fun to drive, handle corners very well (especially on lowering springs) and are super reliable, great on fuel and cheap to maintain. Bought mine at 56k, currently at 68k miles, the throwout bearing was noisy however and the clutch was replaced, this issue is extremely rare and was likely due to neglect. Other than that, I've only had the odd non essential wear and tear issues.

Same as the Fiesta - every fast Ford has either been stolen or crashed! Last time I got a quote for a Fiesta ST, it was almost double what I was paying for my 981CS at the time.
I bought the Pug on this list instead (in that spec!) and that's "only" about 20% more to insure than the porker was. On the other hand, a McLaren would cost me 30% less - expensive cars can be cheap to insure, because people tend to look after them. On the other hand, literally every Fiesta ST I've seen since for about a decade has tried to race me, although none have crashed or been stolen while doing that, thankfully 😄

Be careful with Clio's. They are great cars to drive, but can suffer from electrical issues, as well as mechanical some not so bad some quite.
I had a regular 197 for about 8 months and the issues I had were as follows.
    Camshaft Pos Sensor
Exhaust Manifold Flexi's (require new manifold)
Dead Starter Motor (can be common due to being by the exhaust manifold with no protection) Hard to diagnose as I had warning Steering Not Locked on dash.
Seized Windscreen Wiper Arm which needed new arms and motor due to stripping teeth when it seized.
    Windscreen Washer Jet Motor
Water Ingress in boot due to potentially blocked sunroof drains or rear light seal, scuttle panel at front can get blocked and cause water to fill up and hold, which can cause issues.
Make sure major service is carried out before you buy, or is not due for a while as can be expensive. Cambelt+Depasher which is required every 5 years or 75k miles (I think) is an expensive job.
And last but not least, engine failure, I had the crankshaft die which took out the entire bottom end, it had scored the piston rings etc and would have required a full engine rebuild. It could have happened due to an oil pickup issue, or not been serviced correctly or at its exact intervals. My specialist reckons it was ran on no oil, started knocking topped it up and sold. So make sure FSH and prove it.
If you do want to get one, take it to a Renault specialist who deal with Renaultsport models, as they will know everything as they are a fair bit different to a standard mk3 Clio, wider track, 4 pot brembos and more complex engine with VVT etc... I loved mine but caused me a headache so be careful!

Good video, but owning a cheap fast car with cheap taxes md insurance should not be the priorities of a 18-22year old. Performance comes with responsibility which comes with wisdom gained from age and experience. Because no one wants to get cheap insurance just because it is cheap
I cannot like this video because good as it is, encourages misplaced priorities and likely bad outcomes when a teen gets a fast cheap to buy car and ends up causing havoc due to lack of experience that then results in families suffering.
Rather encourage more modest cars to build on skills/ wisdom and experience before stepping to this. I lost a lot of good friends who got cars like the above with similar performance, whilst we did mad stuff on the public roads. It’s by Gods grace I’m here typing and that’s a fact!
Let’s think before creating content not just cause we want to create content. Be responsible!!!!!!👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿

This video doesn't encourage anyone to buy fast cars - it's simply an informative shopping list, those people already made that decision.
That doesn't mean you're wrong of course, I totally 100% agree with your sentiment about drivers. Too many people drive cars faster than they can handle, especially when almost all cars will go faster than they understand how to manage. A 993 gen 911 was new 30 years ago and known as a widowmaker - the Carrera S version has 285hp which is easily hot hatch territory now. The lift-off oversteer can be just as lethal too 🤔
I was discussing this with someone yesterday - I feel like the driving test should include a sim piece, make people prove they really understand the limits of their car. I don't mean teach them to race per se, but test how someone reacts to things like the aforementioned lift-off oversteer.
I've owned a few fast cars - currently a 308 GTi (the first
