      The installation of an aftermarket ecu and all items required to allow it to properly function would cure all of this. It would also make it a race bike that requires highly skilled tuner(s). So no need to remove the ECU for tuning, massively convenient as ECU is a pita to remove on European spec bikes as locked in with tamper proof bolts. How would you know top rpm throttle cut is due to emissions? Could it be for traction control? For going fast in the corners traction control cutting throttle is very abrupt and upsets the bike a lot. maybe factory tune is designed so that throttle is not open in the first place until ecu can detect there is no wheel spin and then it will open 100%. That way if traction control needs to interrupt it will be smooth.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety +1

      The US models have these restrictions. Even Euro 5 approved models do not in other countries. What you are describing with traction control happens in lower gears, at lower throttle openings and rpm's.

    After running my ZH2 a few times at Atco, I've pretty much determined that this is not a very good bike for drag racing. No, I didn't invest significant money into the swingarm extensions and everything else needed to give the bike a longer wheelbase, but I did gear it taller with a 19 tooth front sprocket, remove the stock air filter(only when the bike was being used at the drag strip), lowered the front by one inch, and strapped the forks down as far as I could get them. I even ran with a full tank of 93 octane fuel in hopes the extra weight in that location would help keep the front end down, which it did.
    Even though I'm 210 pounds fully suited and no pro drag racer, I've been drag racing bikes since 1977 and have done pretty well overall.
    The ZH2 just doesn't have the low end torque to get any decent 60' numbers like say a stock ZX14R does. The ZH2 weighs a lot less than the 14R and is rated at the same 197 hp but out of the hole it's just not enough. My best ET was a poor 10.56 and my best trap speed was a so-so 142.16 mph.Unless the torque can be made to come on a lot sooner, I don't see how this is going to be a decent bike at the dragstrip.
    I will say that from as low as a 40-50 mph roll on race, it is very potent! It is just disappointing as a drag bike :(

    • @jockojockoson9995
      @jockojockoson9995 Před 3 lety +1

      After all those years as a drag racer you should know that it’s not meant to be a drag bike lol.

    • @stevesmith6236
      @stevesmith6236 Před 3 lety +1

      @@jockojockoson9995 First, people actually still use "lol"?? How childish. Second, name me one factory stock, mass produced motorcycle that is meant to be a drag bike. In my world, you can drag race pretty much any self propelled vehicle at a drag strip. Teslas for instance have been raced at drag strips as shown on many CZcams videos , as have been anything from "bagger" harleys to quads, old station wagons to pit bikes, none of which are "meant" to be used as drag vehicles.
      I enjoy drag racing and have been doing so since 1977 on my then new Kawasaki KZ1000. The only factory motorcycle that I'm aware of as being "meant" to be, or intended to be "drag bike" was the Kawasaki 900 Eliminator of 1985. My 2002 Kawasaki ZX-12R Ninja was much quicker at the drag strip than my ZH2 . The Ninja had less peak torque than the ZH2, but had more low end torque making it easier to launch hard plus it was a bigger bike with a longer wheelbase and thus was much less prone to doing a wheelie.
      Your turn.............

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety +1

    This is a great and informative video...
    What would be really cool is if you could do three test. And it may have to be on something a little older.
    But it would be great to see a stock run with a full exhaust on a bike. Then put in a dynojet map to see the results. Then see a dyno tune by you to see the differences in the three.
    Everyone always claims the maps on their website aren't great, but it would be cool to see the true differences.
    I know on my old K6 750 it ran the best with the 2 Brothers map because it was adding a lot of fuel to it.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety

      The problem we see with the DJ maps is that most are created in the high desert of Northern Nevada...which means that's where they work best. Once you get to areas closer to sea level, they must be adjusted to work properly.

    • @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
      @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS Před 3 lety

    @routerider9542 Před 3 lety

    My thoughts : its a naked bike. i'm not sure if i want it to go more than 160mph ...it's a street bike...a slip on - or a full exhaust system to reduce weight , and i'm sure a steering damper would help the cause under hard acceleration...thats all i would do , plus save money for tires....( 14.7 : 1 @ sea level )- is the best air fuel ratio.

    • @BrockDavidson

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety +1

      If you are waiting for the quantity available 0's to turn to + anything...you may be waiting a VERY long time. Example: we recently received 50 on a hot-selling Penta-Carbon exhaust. By the time they arrived, 55 were already on order (backorder), so the first 50 to order received systems and the remaining five have to wait for another order, (which takes at least 8-12 weeks). So 50 pipes went out the door and the numbers in the store never changed from 0. If you want one, you need to place your order and wait (sorry). Our system ONLY knows first in/first out. It's a crazy time in our industry right now and we expect it to be this way well into 2021.

    Newb question. @brockdavidson For tuning a bike like this, or any torque rich bike that has 6 axis imu, can you take acct > lean angle = < throttle open position? 100% throttle on any h2 at 4k rpm may be a bit too much for mortals 😎

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety

      The fuel tuning is 100% seperate from rider controls. Example: proper AFR is proper AFR, regardless of if you have all rider controls turned off, or you are in rain mode with TC maxxed out where even an H2 won't spin the tire in a gravel parking lot. I can tell you that a bone stock H2 with the KTRC turned off will scratch up the back of your helmet quicker than you can say "what just happened?!"

      The supercharged kaws respond like normally aspirated bikes on the dyno...so lean is mean. Unfortunately, some dyno operators don't realize how mean leanness can be to the engine...

    • @mototune5797
      @mototune5797 Před 3 lety

      @@BrockDavidson the Kawasaki does not respond like a normally aspirated engine. I’ve used a knock link on a H2. These things knock on Australian pump 98 octane which is the same as your 93 when the afr is leaner than 12.5 and especially if your pushing timing. 13.6 is crazy especially with how high the IATs are, I wouldn’t even tune any NA bike that lean, unless your afr probe is actually incorrect and showing leaner falsely. Why would you stress an engine out that much for what 2 hp or so.
      As you know, bike motors are tough but after a while the motor will only take so much heat and detonation before something goes wrong. I would really advise on a decent knock unit when tuning these in the future.

    Does the ram air change any perimeters being variable at changing speeds?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question. Is it really "ram air" in a supercharged application? Or simply improved intake filling ability? I can tell you that our Ninja H2 data logging in LSR shows the AFR becomes consistently leaner as the bike gains speed, but the ECU does not compensate for this. That's a major reason we also install a PCV on any supercharged Kaw that we race, so we can control the AFR ourselves.

  • @anders7767
    @anders7767 Před 2 lety

    Hi !! Me again . I have purchased the PCV from you and was eventually installed yesterday ... I for the life of me cannot remember if it had the map already installed. Also does the rider mode need to be set in a certain setting ie - Rider or Sport or Road ?? Sorry but hope you can help me

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 2 lety +1

      Stay away from rider mode. Road Mode is least aggressive, start there and then move up to Sport Mode once you are comfortable. There will be a white, hand written tag on the back of your PCV if we installed a map. You will need a laptop and the Dynojet PCV software to confirm it is the correct map for your application. DO NOT run the stock map in a flashed ECU as severe engine damage can quickly occur.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety

      For cruising, we shoot for around 13.2-1 on the H2’s and WOT 12.8-1 for drag and 12.0-1 for LSR. These reference numbers assume a 5 wire sensor is placed directly into the exhaust bung in our pipe.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  Před 3 lety +1

      Since the throttle blades are constantly monitored, as soon as they are in a position that the ECU did not request - the bike will throw codes and go into limp mode.
