- In this video, we're going to take a look at the evolution of guest characters in the SOULCALIBUR franchise.
SOULCALIBUR is a fighting game series that has been around since 1995. One of the most unique aspects of the franchise is the inclusion of guest characters from other popular media. From comic book heroes to video game characters, SOULCALIBUR has had its fair share of famous faces over the years.
In this video, we'll be taking a look at all of the guest characters that have appeared in the SOULCALIBUR games, and examining how they've changed and evolved over time. We'll be starting with the very first guest character, Link from The Legend of Zelda, who appeared in SOULCALIBUR II on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox.

I love how there's so much variety in soul calibur 2 that they have the balls to add Link from the legend of zelda, Heihachi from tekken, and Spawn from 3 different consoles

Be so dope if a Soul Calibur game brought back every guest in 1 game!! Imagine all the sales. I bought this on my psp, and Mortal Kombat just because I'm a huge Kratos fan boy. First time I'd bought a game from either one of em lol.
@@Praephyr They were at the time of this game's release, but I think I saw Tekken now come on other consoles. Maybe, Namco had a change of plans, because Tekken was mainly a Namco series. I did not know Spawn was on an X Box game. Do you know which game he came from?

@@Praephyr Someone is saying that Spawn is from a comic book. If you look at the back of Soul Calibur 2 on X Box, it mentions that the comic book character Spawn appears as a guest for the X Box version or something like that, but it does mention about Spawn being a comic book character.
I gotta say, I love Darth Vader. I could see him force throwing someone, but I would NEVER think of him straight up picking someone up and throwing them to the ground. I'm impressed.

I love just how totally random the guest characters are, like there's no theme. We have guests from different video game series that stem from western and Japanese developers, comic book characters and sci-fi franchise.

Not gonna lie. Soul calibur games tend to look really good for the console generation they came out on. And they tend to look good even going into the next generation. Soul calibur 4 still looks amazing to this day and soul calibur 2 honestly looks good to this day as well, especially compared to other games that came out in the same gen. Also time to add 2b to this list xD
And now Soulcalibur VI looks like an upgraded Ps3 game.

@@Scyclo True Soulcalibur II looks better than some 3D fighting games that came out a little later like Tekken 5 and even DOA4 on Xbox 360 although Soulcalibur VI looks pretty cheap next to something like Tekken 7 this is the first time in history that a Tekken game has better graphics than a Soulcalibur game. But I don't blame Namco for reducing the budget the series had to be rebooted so it's understandable hopefully Soulcalibur can kick Tekkens ass in the visual department again.

I think most people are focused onto the guest characters, because that's what this video is about. Aside from guest characters, I did want to see Lucius Alexander join in. One website called him by that name, but I would have thought his last name would be Alexandra, because he's the brother of Cassandra and Sophitia. Cassandra was my favorite character in Soul Calibur 2. I only played Soul Calibur 2 and Soul Calibur Legends, but if Lucius joins in any, I might go for it, but I think the chance for him is never.

Link is the only character I haven’t tried because I never had the GameCube version.
Shon Oakley I’ve owned all 3 at one point, brother sold the Xbox version when he got a 360, he also sold the ps2 version, I bought the ps2 version again from blockbuster, then I bought the GameCube version off of amazon

There was KOS-MOS from Xenosaga: Episode 1 on Soul Calibur 3, though she was one you had to build using the X-type pieces. She's one of my favorite guest characters in Soul Calibur history, next to Heihachi.
Note: Though SC3 doesn't have any official "guest characters" you can unlock a Costume of KOS-MOS from Xenosaga as clothes in the Character creation options. And along with that Devil Jin from TEKKEN appears in the same fashion in SC5.

I would love to see The Prince from Prince of Persia appear in Soul Calibur. His move-set would be pretty wild and acrobatic, and it would be amazing if the dagger of time was utilized in some way.

Well, that is kind of the point of guest characters in certain series. They try to slightly branch out into the fans of that character’s respective series to hopefully get them into SC. Same with other fighter games. But I do understand what you mean. It was the same for me with Link & Heihachi in SC2.
