"No trust...liar"
Downey Jr gives a small demonstration of his incredible talent in this scene.
You hear it in his voice. His conviction says it all
After Civil War, he is right to say that
Definitely. I agree with Tony on this issue.@@kaushikhegde8227
It hurts just to watch him say it
The angry adrenaline-fueled shiver in the word "liar" is what really sells it for me.
That was raw.
That was _real._
In that moment, Robert Downey Jr. genuinely _hated_ Chris Evans with every fiber of his being.
I really do believe we won’t get better characters than cap and Tony ever again in the mcu
That's because nothing's as good as the first.
@@ekayate2455 it definitely would’ve been possible to get there again, but they’ve already introduced so many weak new characters it’s kind of too late
@@sinjin9994 welcome to the world of comic books. not every new character introduced or shoehorned into the continuity is gonna be good. most of them already weren't good. even some of the ones we love right now weren't that good. nobody really paid attention to Iron Man until RDJ did the movies so well. same with Hugh Jackman, he also boosted the popularity of Wolverine exponentially. and Evans with Cap. its the actors and script writers that give you that feeling. but mostly the actors
With the way the writing is now, not a fucking chance.
@@SuperVortex facts. Hollywood writers have had a considerably huge drop off when it comes to creativity over the years. films don't have that same feel they used to. everyone keeps using the same ideas over and over, diluting and watering them down with other already used ideas. it's unfortunate. part of the reason why Warner Brothers and Disney are both expected to go bankrupt in the next few years. no more DC or Marvel movies for anyone
"I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision; didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming." It's amazing how much Tony blamed himself, and then Steve, for their failure against Thanos. Also, a nice callback to Age of Ultron.
Steve genuinely made him want to believe in the Avengers. In the movie he didn't have a rebuttal towards that. Tony really thought for a second, "he's right, I guess if I'm with my pals, we can do anything. No need for a suit of armor around the world because look at how that turned out." And then Civil War happened. Then Infinity War. And now, he is bitter, not because they lost, not because he got smacked with a literal moon to the face, but because he wasn't with Steve, or any of the Avengers. They lost, but what hurt Tony is they lost separately. IF he was with his pals, they could've done it. They always did. But because they were separate, 50% of the world was gone. And he blamed himself as much as he blamed Steve. Himself for believing Steve that they'd stick together no matter what, for not having the conviction to tell them he was wrong about the Accords, for beating the shit out of Cap in Siberia, for not pressing dial on that phone. Steve for lying to him, for choosing his pal from the 40s who nearly killed him and everybody instead of him who was his brother in arms, for knowing everything and still not choosing to tell him, for not reaching out first (sure he did the letter but no follow up, it's not like Stark Industries is hard to find), for no moral support when he needed it the most. A pep talk, an inspiring speech, a few sentences to boost their morale, a word to affirm him that despite the odds looked impossible, they will pull through because they're the Avengers. They rarely lose, and if they do, they do it together. Tony needed it the most in the face of the Mad Titan, and Steve was nowhere to be found. And he thought all hope was lost.
bruh, thats well said. I read all of it. Very good deep dive.@@johnandreimayor822
@@johnandreimayor822 a bit wrong about "blaming Steve" here:
- "for lying to him": Steve did not, he just did not tell the truth after Bucky told him after waking up from Zemo's brainwash
- "for choosing his pal from the 40s who nearly killed him and everybody instead of him who was his brother in arms, for knowing everything and still not choosing to tell him": Steve thought that they were racing against time fearing Zemo would wake up the rest of Winter Soldiers, but nobody signing the Accords would spare the time to listen (Tony per Ross's deadline to solve super civil war, T'Challa wanting revenge, Rhodes + Peter + Vision mostly follow Tony, Natasha only helped knowing Steve wouldn't stop)
- "for not reaching out first after the letter, for no moral support when he needed it the most": Steve's team was branded criminal after CW, who can expect him to reach out first. Tony was the only one with the means to contact and he did not
no bias but most of the things Tony blame himself or Steve or anyone later on, stems straight from his ego and he rarely admits he was wrong
I love how Tony blows a raspberry with a salute because that is something us military guys actually do when people are asking questions and we don't got answers. That brought me back.
And the fact that it reinforces Tony's connection with the military. All the way back in Iron man 1 when he made weapons for them. Sheesh man, Marvel's era really is over
I just noticed for the first time you can see the round scar on his chest where the arc reactor used to be. Makes sense to be there but still a nice touch in continuity.
0:19 Tony's comment here about his dream got elevated after Multiverse of Madness explained dreams were windows into alternate realities. Tony probably dreamt of a version of himself that was defeated by Thanos.
Yeah, that's what the MoM is doing - elevating stuff.
Robert Downey Jr. will forever be the ONLY person who could play Iron Man. He was literally born for this role!
The worst is, Cap wasn't there because Tony never ended up making that call...Cap doesn't even know about that.
actually he knew. wakanda is far more technological for them not knowing something came in on earth atmosphere. he was just too far away to even came to join the fight on time.
Cap wasn't there because he chose his american ideals and his best friend over protecting the earth from aliens.
1:12 - As pissed as Tony is, he's still giving Carol her props.
Captain Marvel saved him so he is grateful
The last mcu movie with Tony stark alive. On the bright side, he got to live five years more than the people who faded out of existence.
Really amazing acting from RDJ here
Imagine Tony with the power of Thor or Captain Marvel or Dr Strange. He’s already almost unstoppable.
imagine Dr Strange with the power of Captain Marvel. even more unstoppable i'd say. or Captain Marvel with the power of Thor. or Thor with the power of Dr Strange. or Dr Strange with the mind of Tony, that'll really do it.
@@RegReg02or Captain Marvel with her actual power and but less stupid.
@@RegReg02 dr strange is already pretty smart i don't think he would change much with the mind of tony
That's pretty much Dr. Doom lol
@@Max-jp6jb yes Dr. Strange is very intelligent...in certain fields. yet there's fields of vast knowledge that Tony has that would take Dr. Strange's imagination to new levels, therefore taking his power to new levels as well. take No Way Home for example when Strange and Spider-man fight. Spider-man mid fight figures out the hidden key to Strange's attacks are actually mathematical involving geometry i believe. he beat him that way, and Steven seemed surprised almost as if he didn't even know about that himself. if Strange had that immense intellectual outlook added on his magic (which Thor admits isn't so different from science), he'd be insanely powerful. also i feel like Tony's imagination itself is even greater than the Sorcerer Supreme. it'd be a huge power buff for Strange, or really anyone.
How come no one noticed Rhodes' actor losing it for a second when Tony hits the bowl before? 😂
I'd say it was more of a wince
@@therealocgamer9701 Look closer, he's smiling. He starts laughing at Tony's outburst but stops himself a second later.
*You know what I need to shave*
Hahahaha wtf I would never notice
@@johnsmith361 thats not at all what that is. he's wincing. a reaction toward Tony's sudden outburst. notice how his torso jolts back along with the wince? thats not a laugh
"You find him, you put that on... you hide"
Broke my heart
Tony sounds like Hydra when he says the things about freedoms.
The fact that this scene was improvised, was even more mind blowing...
It really was ? Omg 🛐
A single line of dialogue was improvised, relax.
Great scene tho.
No it wasnt
It wasnt lol
No! Stop lying!!!
While the bleaker street magician gave away the store
I want to know what would've happened had they just gone through with what he said: put the nanotech arc reactor on Thanos and hide.
I just noticed Carol doesn't speak a word with tony
That's just Brie Larson being an average actress with 0 to no impressions ever.
@@KNDCHV yeah she didn't write the script by the way

U can see RDJ is old in Endgame 😟
He wasn't properly young by the time he started Iron Man
He was 53 during the film. Not sure how young you want him to look.
Not everyone ages like Paul Rudd.
Stark did spend about a whole month stranded in space, and when he was found, he was already on the brink of death via starvation/dehydration. So him looking like this seems fitting.
Tony looks disheveled from being stranded in space in Quill’s spaceship with no food/water for a while.
Idk how or why but this is the first time I was able to see the skin graph for where they filled in the giant cavity in Tony’s chest.
0:33 Don Cheadle is about to laugh until he realizes that RDJ did that not on accident but as part of a scene and instantly goes back to acting
Looks more like he’s cringing at the cup spilling over and making a mess. Is this a confirmed thing by Don?
It’s obviously not “about to laugh”.
That is very clearly a grimace, an appropriate reaction to an outburst where a person smacks away a bowl.
No
I love marvel my 2nd favourite superhero iron_man
There is a short clip of the movie before the trailer in this video.
"Liar"
The thing is Tony wasn't used to losing, that's why he took it so hard. Can't blame him. His life was all about him, always having resources, now that he's a grunt he still can't get used to getting his nose bloody. That's why he couldn't lift mjolinor. Kinda like the police in southern California during the "Christopher Dorner campaign" days...
Wow lmao that's quite a take
Yeah, a mark of a true hero is that he doesn't flinch in the face of 4 billion casualties on Earth alone.
He was, in fact, not fine
I love how Hollywood takes the shortest actors and makes them heroes. I think if you're over 6-2, your not working much in Hollywood. Guess I'm just amazed at how short Hollywood leading men are...it wasn't always like that, John Wayne was a tall actor, now the best tall actor might be Dolph Lungred?

What does he mean by "No trust, Liar" in that statement?
He called him a liar because he said they would fight together and then proceeded to betray Tony by not telling him about bucky killing his parents and not being there when he needed him. Also, as he mentioned, in the events of Ultron Tony was the only one who knew something was coming and strived to create a defensive mechanism while everyone else ridiculed him. To quote Thanos, what he predicted came to pass...
@@Spartan117210 Lol Tony had the chance to call Cap and he didn't, that's on Tony. And everyone else ridicule him because he created a robot who almost wipe out the earth without telling his comrades.
@@holyflame2 Yep, Tony had a phone given to him by Steve and was urged by Bruce to make the call, but he didn't choose to do so. I'm pretty sure that any "suit of armor" built by Tony would have just been more toys for Thanos to break.

Tony was totally right again and again and again because Wanda Witch putting in a bad future dreams in " Avengers Age of Ultron," movie about super Ironmen robots to police officers around the world population to protect earth from aliens invaders like Thanos and others aliens .
Tony saw that bad dream where every Superheroes dies off.

I’m stating the obvious and I know that this isn’t really what Tony means but Steve *was* there, the last person between Thanos and Wanda.
He meant they would lose together as a team and no cap was no on Titan

You can really tell the Robert Downer Jr is a pretty old guy here, let's remember this guy was playing teenagers in the 80's. He's gotta be late 50s early 60s here right?
