In this episode of Rimworld Anomaly, we continue our 500% Randy Random run on the Sea Ice. With two ghouls added to our ranks, our base is a bit more protected - and we need it: Last episode's Sightstealer attack was only the beginning of a much larger horde that keeps us busy for a while. In the meantime, we also try to discover the origins of a mysterious strip of gray flesh. This endeavor puts our entire colony in a suspicious frenzy - who can be trusted?

The sea ice is without a doubt Rimworld’s most challenging biome: On these freezing cold ice sheets floating on water, there is no soil for plants to grow, there are no minerals to mine, and there is almost no animal life. Ruins and ancient dangers are also non-existent on the sea ice and even deep drills work differently here, so acquiring even the bare necessities becomes an incredibly difficult task. The sea ice is truly the final boss of Rimworld biomes!
We are continuing this playthrough from a Naked Brutality scenario in Rimworld Ideology and its second chapter in Rimworld Biotech. After obtaining the first two parts of the archonexus map, we select five colonists for the quest to find the third and last piece. As a result, our colonists start with a small amount of items and some starting equipment, but on the sea ice, that is not going to get them far without a good plan and some luck - especially since we are once again playing on Randy Random "Losing is fun difficulty" with the threat scale cranked up to 500%.
With the Rimworld Anomaly DLC, we also see a psychological horror theme added to Rimworld in what is arguably the most unique of the Rimworld expansions. A strange monolith is found on the map and things can soon devolve as horrifying entities appear and threaten the colony in ways never experienced before. In addition, Rimworld Anomaly also adds ways to contain these entities, dark new psychic rituals and a new ending to Rimworld.
Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018. This playthrough uses Rimworld 1.5, the latest update to the game.

With metal horrors I find it best to never have a doctor check another doctor, since if the first one is infected that can infect the other (who would then lie and say the first is clear on their turn) Instead have both/all doctors check the same colonist/prisoner to confirm that all doctors are clear.
Alternatively, if you're lacking in doctors, have every colonist feed a meal to a prisoner (which would guarantee they're infected if any colonist that can warden is infected) then release the prisoner. When they try to leave the map all metal horrors will emerge.
omg, this one deserves more likes. I will definitely be making use of this one. Thanks!
Using the prisoner as a hemogen farm also works. Almost every pawn can extract blood and that will infect the prisoner.
And once again Biotech hard counters Anomaly, as paramedics cannot lie.
It is nice to note that, when detected, all metalhorrors emerge. So there is no need to search further 11:42
11:33 Jay standing over Midnight with a blank stare.
One shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that emotionless face.
What dreams of chronic and sustained cruelty?
(Do You Believe In Magic starts playing in the distance)
For anyone concerned about Metal Horrors themselves, pre-infected pawns may arrive as guests or raiders. a Metalhorror has a small chance to be implanted into a pawn by any other anomaly through attacking. Your starting pawns cannot be generated with an infection.
That testing for the metalhorror reminds me of horror movies like The Thing .. where the colony nervously awaits the outcome of each test .. only then for one of them to turn ... RAWR.
Loved the episode, thanks Pete.
I've been waiting for our very John Carpenter's "The Thing"-esque event to kick off, and was not disappointed. You can almost imagine this being filmed and shot so well, with that sudden "THE GHOULS!" moment of terrified realization after Ellie and Vul having so much mutual distrust. That slow, slow walk to the last suspect you didn't even think of. Even the quarantine moment felt on brand.
I had my colony of 9 end up with 5 infected pawns, it was a big fight - then a group of refugees showed up mid fight and save the day
Man, Anomaly is really good at taking horror movie tropes and putting a new terrifying coat of paint on them. This stuff is like Dead Space meets The Thing, I love it
Mostly inconsequential tip: Don't allow steel and plasteel on the shelves, they don't decay when stored in the open, but your clothes and books do
All metal horrors emerge at the same time if one is discovered.
10:44 that moment when you had Elpis pass by the metalhorror before the ghoul properly engaged gave me a fright. Had the metalhorror attacked he could have potentially killed a child in one attack.
Well done with the Metalhorror. If I may offer a suggestion, the Dark Study Flares will let you stun many of the Anomaly enemies and will reveal sightstealers and Revenants early.
Those will be researched in the next episode, definitely a priority now!
@@PeteComplete Also there is one Anomaly I don't think you're going to get on the Sea Ice. It's called the Harbringer Tree. It's harmless though. It's a fleshy tree that if you have a corpse near it will EAT the corpse. But it can't harm anything. It can be cut down for twisted meat and some bioferrite and is content to just be a tree and corpse disposal. Think of it like a Tribal Solution to too many corpses. It's certainly faster than letting things rot at any rate and it eats ALL corpses including desiccated and rotted ones.
*Colony being torn apart by an abhorent creature of unimaginable horrors.*
Coppermind: 😴😴😴
You made the right call giving the neuroformer to Ellie. But I just realized that the sun lamp right above the jade pillar looks like a street light you'd see on Sesame Street.
Your Rimworld series are one of VERY few things on YT I watch as soon as possible after I see an upload appear. Always excellent.
I actually suspected one of the ghouls might be the body snatcher host from the start, especially since they're the easiest to check due to health not being an issue. But all's well that blenders well. And it did lead to another excellent combat sequence between the epic sneaky boi assault and the horror takedown. Regardless, really cool that Ellie got a Stun cast, taking directly after the best fighters of Jingz and Boyo and her unofficial grandpa Maniac. Girl's growing up and needs protagonist powers. (Kinda hope Elpis might get some too later, fitting for his role.)
I thought Pete was saying Red leather. It wasn't until I paid closer attention that I realized it was Dread leather.
Once this series finishes I would kill to see Pete do a “Save Our Ship” playthrough
Hey Pete, please place the proximity detector indoors
- Sincerely a guy who lost like 20 of them to random enemies destroying them
THERE IS AN IMPOSTOR WITHIN US
rather than storing the wastepacks, unless there is some way of using them just fill the outgoing raid with any spare weight and leave them at the raid point, hey preso clean base
OOH! I wake up, make breakfast, sit down and open youtube, and the new episode is less than 5 minutes old!
Today is gonna be a good day :D
Thank you for producing videos on RimWorld. I find the way you play the game very compelling!
Chunk Skip is NOT useless on the sea ice. It will attract any chunk or metal scrap from the whole map, allowing you to get chunks quickly and easily with no hauling needed.
This is especially helpful if it's too cold to stay outside for very long and you need materials.
I guess you mean chunk skip? Either way, that's useful info :)

Right! Yes. Sorry.
All metal horrors in the colony burst forth from everyone infected once one is detected.
LET'S GOOO! I love your work Pete. Definitely got me through a lot of hard times in college and in my early career! Many thanks!
another banger! thanks for uploading!!!
I already know this video is going to be another banger! Pete is Complete!
No lie, I started playing the soundtrack from The Thing (1982) and it enhanced my experience of this episode greatly :D
lovely as always
Hi Pete!
I love this series!
Nicely done!
Daily reminder that bioferrite doors are among the best doors in the game!
In my colony, there's also a void monolith but I just leave it be, keep on building my community and now I have 17 colonists dwelling a sizable base...
If Pete gets THIS many sightstealers with only 6 colonists (counting the ghouls,) I wonder how much of a pain it will be if I were to provoke the void now... 💀
I don't know if it's too early but I'd like to see some colony development. Separating things out into their own rooms, etc.
I know you are not a huge fan of corridors but sight stealers are real problem. A shotgun corridor really helps keep them off your back.
This is so good!
no u
Owyehah, always good to have friday turn around and give another rimworld video!
Great video as always, it's crazy how much is packed into these episodes with all the dlc. It's barely recognizable compared to Cambiar's Ice Sheet.
Leider bist du so unterhaltsam, dass ich meinen Daumen hoch gleich am Anfang geben muss, sonst vergess ich das.
good stuff!
Dumb question, isn't heat escaping the barracks with the double doors wide open? Or am I missing something? 🥶
Aight, who bet on Midnight being sus?
Has anyone else noticed the sky changes colors from Eclipses? 18:39
eighth episode lets go!
Provoke the Algorithm!
Like and good video.👍👍
I think metal horrors drop gray flesh where they currently are, so your prisoner couldn't have been the one to drop it, and while she might be infected hers would have a different biosignature, so surgical inspection wouldn't have revealed anything. So sadly you wasted two medicine
When doing drop-pod raids like this, is it possible to butcher some of the pirates and have the ghoul make their way back with just the meat? Might free up some space for lucre if so...
'allo algo!
Haven't finished watching the episode yet. Out of curiosity: would it be possible that the gray flesh spawned if Nazeem were the imposter and while away on the empire quest?
You should check out Octopath Traveler 2, it’s an rpg game that doesn’t have very many walkthroughs and I think it would fit right in with the other games that you have played
Will the metal horror activate the scenario if you never start the monolith research?
But, what happened to the aunt?
EDIT: Oh, nevermind, you showed her at the end
Peeeeete!!!
12:12 You'll want to speedrun progressing towards mind-numb serum once you start advanced rituals. Not only does it make Alpha-psycasters immune to psychic drones (instead of suffering an OVER 60 mood penalty on a high psychic drone) some of the later void weather events impact psychic pawns far more severely.
