STORY
Today, we embark on a captivating journey to the serene French countryside, where we step foot inside a remarkable historic house that stands as a symbol of bravery and love.
This awe-inspiring house was once the cherished abode of Colonel Lionel and his beloved wife, Antoinette. Having earned the esteemed rank of Colonel through his exceptional service in the Second World War, Lionel and Antoinette chose this house as their haven. Lionel's strategic brilliance and unwavering courage are believed to have saved countless French soldiers, leading his troops to triumph during perilous times.
For many years, Colonel Lionel resided within the walls of this magnificent house, until his passing in 2008. Although his noble children inherited the estate, their interest gradually waned over time.
Antoinette, Lionel's loving wife, had already departed from this world in 1998 after bravely battling terminal cancer. Yet, the house retains the essence of their lives, resonating with the joy and love that once permeated its every corner.
Join us as we embark on an exploration of the rich history concealed within this grand mansion. Together, we will uncover the extraordinary life of a courageous man and unravel the captivating story of a family's past. Let us be captivated by the echoes of bravery and love that still reverberate through this timeless dwelling.

What a beautiful place! But it always baffles me as to why children leave valuable possessions behind. I mean I understand not wanting to take beds, dresses and lamps. But why leave photos and paintings…I would never desert something so important 😢
The "children" are in their 80s. Probably no grandchildren able or even interested unfortunately
Black mold. You take anything out of this house, you take the black mold with you. Then your family gets sick. An your lesson is, leave it be.
@@melje6740 they could have taken the family photos way before the black mold appeared…not a valid reason
It is sad. Young people don't realize the value of memories until they get older themselves. I would never throw away or leave old photos and pieces of art work even if they had no monetary worth. They are a part of your life, your family and friends and more importantly your ancestors. They need to be labeled and passed down. But like I said the interest doesn't come early in life usually. I loved hearing the stories of my ancestors, if I could get my family to talk. My father's side of the family was so poor and so hard that they really didn't want to talk about it. My mom was better at telling me about her side of the family though.
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
This is a beautiful grand mansion. It’s left with beautiful memories and furnishings to gather dust and decay. It’s always sad to see that they just seem to vanish from their loved ones. Leslie, you always show such great respect to the homes and the people that resided in them. You bring us to the very time they were living there. Your presentation’s are always wonderful. ❤
I hope the children or relatives saved the photos because for me they are memories of yesterday of our ancestors or our origin..Keepsafe Lesley
It's always delightful watching you explore French mansions or castles, Lesley! I love them! This beautiful mansion makes no exception! The masterbedroom looks exquisite! 😍The old papers, the radios, all the family photos evoke times when people really cherrished thier cultural values!
You're always into the story ,excited and dedicated to your cause! Thank you for taking me on this wonderful journey in time!
Beautiful tour Lesley!! The house was beautiful. It makes me so sad to think that it’s still savable and no one seems to be interested in saving it. If it’s got that much moisture coming in it won’t be long till it’s all moldy. Really well done. Thank you. 💜🫶😎🤗🇺🇸
Always so professional. You give each location a personality. I imagine the people in that time walking through their homes. Happy with their families and lives.
I really enjoyed this French manor with the gorgeous master bedroom and all the cool radios. Thank you for showing this Lesley ❤️ it made my day happy 😁
A very beautiful explore. The owners could have insulated the attic and turned it into a family room. 💙
Wow what a beautiful home, and making me extremely curious, that guy in the photograph looks similar to my grandpa on my dad's side of the family, I'm french on his side but I only know the ones who immigrated from France, there's only a couple of relatives who know some of my cousins etc in France and I think it's time to start figuring out more of my family, I think it would be awesome if I have a family connection to this house ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Omg so exciting! Have you found something yet?
I just love exploring with you. You make them come alive.
He certainly does he doesn't go ott like some explorers do. He takes his time going through each room. A great explorer 👍
Lesley, thank you for this time capsule virtual tour!
check the time stamp at 1:23 there is an orb in the shot lower right corner
You’re wearing your contact 🧤 gloves. Bravo 👏 Lesley!
The kids neglected the parents home. That's like neglecting the parents themselves 😢
Yes happens all the time....
R34ard.
Quite the home. A lot of antiques. I cant beleave no one cares anymore about this man. We will never know what he did to save people but he was a hero. The prayer beads are called Rosary beads. This French family are catholic. He beleave in the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope his family are at peace. Good job once again Leslie. A really nice show. Stay safe we will watch you next week.
That looked like a home made shortwave radio!! Great job as usual!! Love your explorations!
Greetings Lesley Danny from Costa Rica
Much love. ❤❤ lots of dried hydrangeas 🌸.. it sure it was a beautiful very comfortable home with female touches . Thank you guys for another wonderful video.
Take care. 😘
Love you! 🩷
What a beautiful place shame it’s been left to fall apart and the family didn’t claim it
Hi Lesley sending lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Lesley, une autre grande tournée/aventure. Merci beaucoup !
LEGENDA PORTUGUES. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It’s so weird how some people just abandon their past ?’ 🥺
I believe the food items in the jar that you thought were olives are actually liquer-filled chocolate cordials (they are one of my favorite treats).
The newspaper "La Voix du Nord" was created by french resistance fighters during the Second World War. In particular by a great uncle who was shot by the Germans at the beginning of 1945. He has streets named in the city of La Bassée (North of France) and even a statue near the station in this town. His name was Maurice BOUCHERY. My grandparents were also resistance fighters, my grandfather was Polish consul in the city of Lille and organized and recruited among the Polish of France for his resistance network POWN. He was naturalized French after the war. I am 55 and I'm proud to have the same name SZCZESNY.
Wow very beautiful and emotional

I love your channel so very much and how respectful you are when exploring these gems! You are also so thorough and imaginative which makes these episodes so magical! PS PLEASE make some merch with "As you can see" on the front 🌎👏🏻👏🏻❤️ definitely my favorite saying of yours. Keep up the good work Lesley!
It's a great palace and thank you for sharing us 🙏💖
I know people think the kids don’t care
But I’m helping my friend who is 70 clean out her mothers house who just past away
It’s to much for her to do she was a only child
I’m 61 in much better health
I’m just amazed her mother through nothing away kept every card
I believe it’s because they came out of the depression area
Very nice home but got a lot of little room and lot of stuff all though the house, , big property, sad to see it got abandoned, lot of memories inside, thank you for sharing, very interesting home indeed.
Beautiful falling apart house. Btw, In the room where the doll is on the night table, the item in the corner by the suit is an antique wood floor steam cleaner.
Why on earth has it not been sold? So sad. Hope that it can be saved by someone who will cherish it.
Beautiful home. Love the staircase.
thanks Lesley!
see ya next week👍🏽
This house is amazing. Thank you for sharing Leslie ❤
So interesting, I look forward to watching your videos every night. Im fascinated with the old mansions & castles. You make everything so interesting, thanks from Fredericksburg, Texas.
😢 that's really sad how their kids neglects their heritage...It depresses me that kids now a days has NO SENTIMENTAL VALUES 😢
thats kids is older than ur granpa
🤡🤡🤡
What a great place with sad decay!
In great condition considering it's been unoccupied for many years. With no insulation that's quite something else. A lovely place hope one day someone takes this on. Very interesting place 👍
You go to the most beautiful places
❤beautiful video. Thanks for sharing
I made it here Lesley a little bit late but it's okay I will watch it over again just to make sure I didn't miss anything 😀 , Thanks again for the awesome video
7:02 I had a phone just like that 20 years ago. 😂
QUANDO ESTAS ESTRUTURAS HISTÓRIAS FICAM AO ABANDONO ,A QUEM ELA PERTENCE?
AQUI NO BRASIL 🇧🇷, VÃO A LEILÃO, QUANDO NÃO HÁ HERDEIROS.
Hi Lesley, another story of a man's life so beautifully told, Thank you. The photos are beautiful. Love the cellars and the crested chairs are stunning. All this needs to be saved before it is too late.
Lesley, the instrument with wires is a battery charger. The magnifying glasses were for studying detailed writing or small details.
I love the sentimentality of this video which suits this wonderful place and the dry tears formed from water marks on the windows. The bathroom looks too clean. Maybe somebody cleaned it recently. Those VHS tapes feel like yesterday to me but the 1979 newspaper was published five years before I was born in Brugge. I also had a phone like that in 2001. I notice one of the newspapers has a photo and headlines mentioning the word music near the musical pieces. Maybe the family had a well known connection to music. The wheeled wheelchair is interesting. Maybe that is what inspired the invention of wheelchairs. There was a blue version of that red lampshade in the my home in the 1980's. I also notice a bottle cologne 471. I also purchased one recently to reminiscent my childhood memories. I am also considering purchasing Denim aftershave.
Great video thanks for sharing.
In the beginning of the film after Leslie mentions the wife passing from cancer it cuts to a bedroom and as your looking at the bed you see an orb move from the bottom of the screen, up and off to the right. Seems like Leslie and Danny may have company in this old house!
Great video. The Colonel was a veteran of WWII and was probably born between 1916 and 1920 to 1925.. My father was a WWII veteran. I was born in 1948 and I am now 75 years old. So his children are around my age, in their late 70's. Just as a time perspective, here. So in 2006 he would have been well into his 90's, close to 100 years old.
Hallo Lesley. Great video. Thanks❤. We missed you today. Love you❤
Thanks that was awesome house good job
I don’t understand y they don’t take the pictures and give the other things away
Wow.. ❤❤❤ truly captivating
Oh my look at that stairwell
Hello Lesley, what a beauty of explorations, thank you, it is a wonderful trip to the past! Please activate the subtitles in Spanish! I follow you from Argentina, kisses!!!
It was so amazing content really love this ..🥰🥰🥰🥰
Amazing video Leslie. Lovely house with lot of stuff. I am also a fan of upholstery chairs like you. Good job. God bless
I could not imagion , disrespecting my parents by leaving their much lived home and petsonal items to rot away. So very sad. Lots of people are not a fortunate to have such a beautiful home, and than to cateless what happens to all their personal items togo to waste. Sad. If my parents had something like that i would for sure save and do what i could do to keep it....Dont be angry if someone comes in and removes item , i hope to love & cherish like they shoukd have been .sone kuds are jyst ungrateful.
How lovely! One of the things we enjoy most from your videos is how much you appreciate these abandoned places. Your joy is evident on your face and in your voice. I have a question: who is paying the taxes on these empty properties? Here is the USA property taxes need to be paid whether someone is living there or not, I assumed it is similar in other countries. Can someone advise me on this question?
Wow so nice
Congratulations on your wonderful work, excellent through it I get the beautiful taste and greatness of human values congratulations
Hey Lesley, Great explore video in that abandoned French mansion of a colonel, which I enjoyed watching very much. - This location
has a very special atmosphere, and it was very exciting following you through the rooms of that mansion. - There were still so many
interesting and beautiful antique items visible, and you always have such a good eye for details. - Some of the rooms were real
time capsules, - completely frozen in time. Amazing to see!
Stay safe, peace and kindest regards.
This was a beautiful well loved home. The property is a decent size for children to play. This would still be a nice home to live in when fixed up. Just wondering guys. Have you ever felt any paranormal activity when visiting any of the properties you have investigated?
1:18
YES good aftirnoon my friend Bros of Decay very good nice that you so much
Estupendo vídeo !
Saludos desde España 🇪🇦
I compliment you Lesley on not smelling any liquids. Not a good idea.
There is a simple elegance here that is welcoming. It is designed on a human scale. An ordinary person can feel welcome here. I admire this so much more that the opulent, extravagant, ostentatious manors designed to diminish the visitor and overwhelm the individual. I suppose that is why the owners of palaces needed to wear huge clothing and tall wigs and hairstyles so they did not look insignificant in their own flamboyant surroundings.
I loved this video, and the lovely music playing in the background. It's a shame the children don't keep all of the photos and the war artifacts/papers. The colonel's stuff should be in a museum perhaps. So sad to see this. Thanks for sharing with us Leslie!
Thank you, Lesley! Honey, you need a new pair of gloves! Also it makes me nervous when you are exploring alone! Well done as always my dear! I’m looking forward to a new castle explore soon I hope! Love you so much!
🩷☺️🇺🇸
Cool 😀
I Thought this was live.
Hi lesly thank you!🎉🎉🎉😅😊
go Lesley ,go!
That thing that you called a wine bottle opener is an egg opener to cut the top of the boiled egg off 😉
Really?
These guys are complete r34ards.
🤦🤦♂🤦♀
Wonder why these people that inherit these places don't at least sell the furniture so it don't go to waste
@39:58 that is a floor buffer for vinyl or ceramic floors.
Why did they not take his war stuff? Blows my mind. We have our families stuff and will pass it down it is sad they didn’t take his precious items.
Traduzir para o português por favor? ❤
Don't know why the kids don't want pictures. They could auction off furniture
I don't know if I missed you saying why it's abandoned. They had children, correct? I will have to watch again to see why it has not been claimed.
Espertacular Mansióm' saludos Equipó 🎥📱 buenas noches 😴😴
🇪🇦👍
That was a simple radio.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wish i could do things like this 😢im a simple girl who loves simple things
Lesley, a cross is just a plain cross. With the corps of Christ hanging on it is called a crucifix.
