  • Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make... A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ► / brosofdecay
The house got abandoned around 2 decades ago. Edward used to live here together with his wife and children. For the first time ever we take you to the country of Switzerland, a country that is landlocked in the middle of Europe, countless stories reside within its borders, and over the next coming weeks, we are going to document a small fraction of them. We start off with the story of Mister Edward and his family, they started living inside this house just after the Second World War ended in Europe. Edward and his wife were madly in love and decided to raise a family and make countless memories inside the walls of the house. Life went by seemingly quickly, the children grew up, went to study and move out, this left Edward and his wife alone again to enjoy their well-deserved retirement,
But unfortunately for Edward things turned south, his wife got sick and passed away early, this left him in deep grief and he had to live out the last years of his life on his own.
Today we will tell the story of Edward and take you on a tour throughout his Wonderfull mansion, get ready for an intriguing adventure.

A lot has changed after I explored this place two years ago. It was mysteriously tidied up, either by some explorers or by the current owner, which is an arabic man. However, the furniture in the living room used to be all over the place, it was a bit cramped, but not because of vandalism. It was actually abandoned like that. The house, as you see it in this video has been like that since it was tidied up by someone last year.
You said Edward was a military man. I must tell you that in Switzerland every citizen must attend military service for a while so you'll find military equipment in pretty much any house here, regardless if they are actually a military person or not. It's something many foreign explorers said when they came to my country to explore untouched places. They often found uniforms and many other military things. It's normal to find basic prepping items in most households here in Switzerland. I always recognize the same items in every abandoned house in my country. It's just a part of the vibe of abandoned places in Switzerland.
You also asked about that door in the basement. Doors with wooden patterns like these are very common for storage rooms in basements in Switzerland, from my experience they were mostly integrated into unused private fallout shelters in the 1960s. (almost every house in Switzerland has a fallout shelter)
These stoves in the living rooms are the most common thing ever here in Switzerland, I've seen a dozen of them in abandoned houses. People love to put things onto them, the steps were also used to sit on them if you need to get warm. They always have the building date on them, that's useful for us explorers.
Looking forward to explore together with you in Switzerland next time!

Interesting. Thank you for the input as I was so impressed by the fact that it appeared abandoned houses in Switzerland are extremely immaculate. I loved catching glimpses of the Delft pottery. The valuable Delft pottery. I have a few pieces but not the very valuable pieces I look to collect. Just a stunning place. Here in the USA this place would have been trashed for sure. Graffiti would have been all over the place. I love the blue and white which seems to be predominate colors in your country. Interesting to be taken on these journey's without ever leaving your house now. Thank you and thank you to Lesley who brings us with him wherever he goes.

That's not an "envelope press" on the desk. It's a rocker blotter, with a piece of blotting paper on it. J. Hérbin still makes small rocker blotters. I have one, because I write with antique fountain pens.
Things written with liquid ink take a bit of time to dry. To make them dry instantly, you can press the blotter on them, to absorb the excess ink.

The white device on the wall is an air humidifier. Put water in it.
The place behind the bed is NOT to put wood in it but place a bed warmer in it for example stones to heat up.
The half pipe shaped block on the desk is for to clean dry paint after written to a letter !

What a great find, the wood accents were very exceptional from the cedar? Built in cabinets to the trim all over the house. I was surprised that the master bedroom was so clean after all these years , the still made bed and white bedspread. The wallpaper was charming. I enjoyed that it appeared that the gentleman still did his own dishes, kept fine cordial type drinks for entertaining and even washed the ash tray, such tidiness. The upstairs living room looked very comfortable in a by gone era way, it all was very charming, thank you for sharing.

Absolutely loved this beautiful place Leslie!!! Sooo very nice & pristine!!! It makes me sooo very sad that the children of Edward didn’t take care of him, at the end of his life😞😢😰It breaks my heart ♥️ that they didn’t come back for the priceless air looms & memorabilia, such as pictures, his medals of honor, the antique wooden furniture, glassware, beautiful pewter candle sticks & sooo very many other cherished memories…the artwork in the attic was probably priceless!!!😢😞😰 The structure, other than the roof, which needs reroofed, looked to be in reasonably good shape 👍 Sad that it can’t be bought, if not moved into by family members & be loved once again!!!❤️ The authentic wooden wall paneling, doors & windows…were absolutely gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure with us Leslie! I truly loved it ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Lesley 🥰 it is a meat mincer. My mother used to have one exactly like this (my grandmother lived in the USA and gave one to her). Mum would mince freshly purchased meat before cooking it.

I always called it a meat grinder.

@@Bluerose888 that will do too 😁. And actually from recollection we would toast bread slices let it cool and than pass it through the “grinder” to a powder 😉👍
