    Great review. It matches pretty close to my expectation of it and what it actually gave me. I bought my P1S 4 months ago and the AMS 2 weeks later. After living with a bed slinger with much frustration for 3 years all I can say about this printer is that does what I ask out of it and it does it quite well. I don't use it to print pretty little statues or trinkets. I use it to print parts for electronic projects I work on that need custom enclosures with PCB mounts or other things like replacement parts for home devices to mounting brackets for curtain rods. This printer has never let me down. So far, I have no regrets on the purchase and if needed, would buy another.

    Great review, covers things from many angles. When they work well, the mechanicals are fantastic, but I think the real thing they're making a huge breakthrough on is user experience. Hopefully, once the initial speed race wears off, more companies will focus on that part, as that's what's holding back wider adoption of 3d printers.

    I've just got my p1s a few days ago. And no doubts it is a great thing, especially compare to cheap reprap printers.
    However I found a few downsides which weren't mentioned by any reviewers which I had watched before:
    1. Smell - printer itself has very strong unpleasant plastic smell (or grease or electronic compound smell). I hope that it will disappear sometime later...
    2. Noise - some bloggers complained about cooler's noise, but non of them told, that on a such high speeds printer creates quite strong mechanical noise and vibration. You can of course eliminate it by lowering speed, but it defeats whole idea of high speed print.

    • @Locksley3D
      @Locksley3D  Před 5 měsíci +5

      Hi, personally I can't say that smell is much of a problem for me at least. Yes, it did smell when I first got it but i expected it from a new printer and after a while, the smell had essentially disappeared so i didn't think it was worth mentioning. As far as the noise goes i did mention that while it is noisy it is much quieter compared to the p1p.I didn't mention the vibration because i thought it would be expected at such speeds ,but you are right i probably should have. The vibrations are very extreme but there isn't much you can do about at these speeds except screwing the table it is placed on to the wall or something similar.

      For under 300, you won't be printing much more than PETG , so something like an A1 mini would likely be more your speed. But it all depends on what you need to do, if you have parts that will actually need to take significant mechanical lodes than you will likely have to spring for a more advanced enclosed printer that can handle engineering materials like PA-CF or ASA.

    The number one complaint Prusa fanatics have against the P1S is Bambu's appoach to privacy and security. I don't understand why bambulab wants to die on this hill, but if they make a COMPLETELY offline system that is still user friendly, they'd absolutely dominate the market. They have completely taken themselves out of contention for a lot of businesses and basically ALL government customers with their current asinine approach.
    This seems to be a common trope with a lot of small businesses. They come out of a stellar product that really shakes up the market, but it comes to market with some irritating flaw or quirk that has people considering just sticking with the tried and true whatever. Do these companies hate money? If not, then it makes it seems like their cloud approach is in some way lining their pockets. Thus, we're back again to the fear that this is just a ploy to harvest and market user data.

    • @johncall4525

    The question is, how do you deal with the fact all BambuLab printers are not capable of printing PLA prints without VFAs? This was even verified with their support. If the prints are all riddled with surface artifacts why waste money on it. After just 10 months on my printer the entire X-Gantry needed to be replaced, as per BambuLab. The carbon rails wear out.

My only experience with multi material is my custom toolchanger build which wastes very little to no material and when compared to the ams that can waste a kilo of filament for a 500 gram part i can't justify it personanly.But i do have to admit it is a good mid range choice, is way easier to use and set up compared to other choices and it definitely deserves to exist but the waste is a turn off for me.
