You've probably heard about the Creality K1C. Creality touts it as the K1 for people who want to print carbon-filled filaments. But I think there's something else going on. That this printer is something else entirely.
Personally, I think that this printer is Creality's "do-over." And in this video, we're going to see how they did.

Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed, please leave a like so my algorithmic overlord doesn’t frown upon me.
btw they are thinking to make a multicolor option for your printer
I ordered K1C and received week ago 2024-03-01 and it does not have dampeners in the door hinges. I was expecting that from early model reviews, but unfortunately my doors are flapping loose.
Can you do a Thorough review of the Flashforge Adventurer 5M? That machine right now is flying off shelves at the $299 and its a Core XY. I have seen mixed results about build quality and I really would like to know the bottom line on it
You should mark this as a sponsored video. They sent you the printer for free that’s a sponsored deal. Reported
Ah bro that's so badass. You went to directly talk to the software team in China and it seems you directly were able to bring change to this product for the better in giving users access to full blown klipper. Cool af. Thanks for the hard work!
One of the key takeaways here is that "China" isn't just some gray mass that pumps out faceless products (like many of us living in West instictively might think), but there are actual human beings developing the products. 😅
Bambu had issues with A1 and recalled/fixed and moved forward. Qidi (my pick) had issues with 3dplus and max and recalled and fixed and moved forward. I hope this trend of customer care continues with Creality also.
Hope so too.
Correct me if I'm wrong - Qidi provided their 1st gen plus3 customers with options to fully replace the printer - Creality just introduced a new model w/ the original still being offered. Did 1st gen K1 customers get the same Qidi customer support?
I bought my K1 3 or 4 months ago and it has the newer extruder so no problems only added the camera and rooted it. I really like it so far. I don't know if all buyers that where in the early models where able to get an updated extruder.@@farad37
Lmao no, Creality service is dog shit.
@@briankale5977 yeap. and theres no way in hell they will ever do a full recall of anything.
Customers want a working product, who would have guessed.
I totally agree with this standpoint. And I honestly wonder why this wasn’t as much of a priority in the past few years. That should be the most simple requirement, “actually works consistently”
@@Ben...---...It only became a priority once Bambu continued to dethrone them, even after the K1. Why be proactive when you can be reactive?
@@pyrokinetic_666 Creality is never pro or reactive lol. They just copy IP and do the whole middle school thing of like "yours prints 500mm? Well ours is SIX hundred. *Sticks out tongue.* Without actually innovating, all at. 😂
@@briankale5977 nah i had a creality and it was hot garbage. Swapped to a bambu lab printer and its night and day difference
Not creality. I've spent more money getting my cr10s5 working than on the initial printer, sunk cost fallacy at its finest
I've had open source printers and spent 80% of my time tweaking/fixing. It was miserable. I tried Bambu Labs and it just works. It's been the most fun I could have had 3d printing. I don't care a bit if it's open source or not, I care it if will print consistently. 2 weeks after getting the Bambu Labs printer I hauled my Creality out the the trash. Best use for it.
Same Here!
dang man shoulda sold the hotend to someone for a side project.
Yup. Brand new to printing. Buddy tried to get me into a K1. I said nope, I don't want to tune/tinker, I want to print. He's still working through issues with his K1. I'm printing. Could care less if it's open source. It effin works and does what I need it to as a novice consumer. I'm blown away at the quality with .08 layers with pla. I'm a bambu sucker, I buy only thier filament, they did the tinkering and tuning. It works.
@@s13kuminachu I tried 3 k1's all were junk from the factory...
@fern_v 3! Man you have patience. Did you get a bambu?
I've had my K1 Max now for about a month, and it has been amazing! I rooted it within the first week, and it is so versatile. Love the AI detection, as it has saved me wasted filament on a couple of prints due to adhesion issues due to wrong settings. Having it be open source, and not a closed system, was a big selling point for me over getting an X1C, as well as the larger build volume. I've done a lot of upgrades to it, and have made it my own, with the smaller pulleys sitting on my desk for my next mod. It came with the updated extruder, and hardened steel nozzle, which I quickly swapped out for a .6mm nozzle. I've printed PA-6 Carbon no problems, as well ABS and ASA with relatively little issues. Can't wait to get another! lol
Agreed. It's not the K1 we wanted but its the K1 we deserved (in the first place).
I got 2 versions of the K1.
1st Version (do not own): Launch Version; The BAD K1 that everyone hears about. Bad aluminum internals extruder, bad hotend, bad alignment and leveling, easily hit by the cable chain WEAK filament engagement switch,
2nd Version (Purchased Aug 2023) had a STEEL (POLISHED SWITCH) Extruder and stronger filament gear switch . It had BLACK silcone covered hotend that had bad thermistor connection that would fail and throw a Error 004 (went throw 3 of them in 2 months before they sent CURRENT Hotend available for K1 and K1 Max.
3rd Version (Purchased Nov 2023) had New Redesigned extruder with better filament path through the extruder (UNPOLISHED SWITCH and NON Unicorn Nozzle) and tighter switch (Now used in the V3 Core XZ). It also now comes with the redesigned RED Silcone covered Hotend with better thermistor connection (These are current Replacements being sold everywhere for K1 and K1 Max).
4th Version (do not own (yet)) SEEMS to be the K1C. I am not seeing any of the K1C upgrades on the newest one I have (3rd Gen).
The newer k1 and k1max will include the new tri unicorn nozzle but brass instead. The k1 max will include an extra hardened nozzle.
Why are you still buying them lol
Hi,
Are you using Orcaslicer with your Creality K1C? Having difficulties with printing a small logo using PETG filament.
Got my K1 mid Jan, no problems extruding, running a lot of ABS, a few mods, top riser, filament runout relocation, and i feed out of a drybox beside the printer. Door is still loose!!! But i haven’t had a problems with that. Swapped the nozzle for a hardened unit and am printing ABS CF with no problems. Oh and i am using double sided pei build plate..
Great video. I am looking at the Creality K1 Max as opposed to the K1 that you keep mentioning in the video. Do you know if they fixed the issues that you mentioned with the K1 in the K1Max version ?
Not sure sorry. I don’t have a max. Hope they’ll do a K1C max though.
This is a very important video for every potential K1 buyer. Because of all those issues and the price I got the Flashforge Adventurer 5M instead which also was cheaper.
Don´t forget the K1C has still a smaller print surface. 220x220 vs 256x256
I have been a Creatily customer for 5 years and while it is nice to be able to customize everything, sometimes a simple solution is the best. I recently bought a bambu x1 carbon and have to say, it feels like a different thing. I have had so many creatily printers and bambu really did something special. It feels like Microsoft vs Apple again. Windows tries really hard but fails and stumbles so many times to get there, while Apple just puts stuff out there that works.
Thank you for your review, it has cleared up many of my doubts. This is especially valuable to me as I am currently waiting for the delivery of my K1C. I am just starting my 3D printing adventure.
I have a question, if you can answer: which company's filament do you recommend?
Best regards,
Adam
Https://jle.vi/polymaker is the best out there as far as I’m concerned.
I am in the market for either a Qidi plus3 (or perhaps max) or a K1Max. Can anyone comment if the outlined K1"C" redesign features been incorporated into the K1 Max (or should I expect a K1 Mac C?)
How does it use the nozzle brush? Do you need add certain gcode to your prints for it to use it at certain points?
It seems to be in the print start macro already.
It does it from the firmware i guess. Even a normal k1 with latest firmware moves to that spot, probes and whipes the nozzle. At least mine does. It probes because if you don't have the brush it simple whipes the nozzle slowly on the buildplate and that actualy does take some debries of the nozzle.
Am I required to connect this printer to my WiFi network like Bambu lab printers, or I can use it offline? I might be buying one soon.
Just how close a look did you take at this printer? They withdrew the marketing about all metal extruder some time back, as it isn't. I also thought the pulleys on the K1C are smaller, not larger and that bed cant really be called flat can it? Have you tried it at different temps to see just how much it distorts with temp?
Yeah I’m wondering the same
He barely reviewed it, you know this. This is the break embargo NDA bambu guy... I don't think he is trying to do anything aside from being "first to review" which requires speeed and not thoroughness.
ive just recently got a p1s from bambu lab with the ams an its completely changed my expectation from my printers, the p1s was the 13th printer to my collection but everything about it was better than my older machines an its made me realize how much 3d printing has advanced in the past 5 yrs, i knew they had gotten faster but the ease of use of the machines has gotten alot better from what im used to using so im looking at selling off some of my older machines an replacing them with some new machines, ive never been someone who picked a brand an stuck with it but i do have 3 creality machines ender 3 3 max and ender 5 an i ended up with 2 flsun qq-s pro but the rest was gotten because of the differences from what i already had but at this point delta and corexy is going to be my picks, an the new creality ender 3 v3 corexy bed slinger is one id like to try an i had considered the k1 but went with bambu lab p1s instead and im so glad i did but at the same time that k1 max is really tempting an does deal with my biggest complaint about the p1s and thats build volume, thats become something i have to have for alot of the stuff i make so at least a 300x300 build plate for a bambu lab printer would def be my next buy if they release something like that b4 i buy another machine. i never was a big prusa guy either but that new prusa xl looks really nice but i dont know if multiple tool heads would be worth the money for me when something like the ams is available, i dont know how well the mmu work from prusa now but i know when it first came out i read alot of ppl having issues, but if they've worked out all of the bugs for it i wouldn't mind trying one of there multicolor setups with a mk4 or xl with a single tool head cause i cant really see any good reason to spend 500 bux for a 2nd tool head but im def going to check out some of these newer printers.
What program are you use at 12.50 in the video?
Did you miss the part on top where it says "STILL TOP SECRET" ?
Can't tell you!
What do you think of it in comparison to the P1S without the AMS? They are about the same price and I'm not sure which one to go with.
This has me interested. I’m comparing between Creality and Bambu for my printer upgrade. Having the software unlocked out the box is a big deal.
I unlocked so much performance from my Ender 3 v2 when I converted it to Klipper but lost the use of the local screen.
So should I get k1c it I had a bad experience before with creality and an Ender 5 s1 I don’t want to go through that again i just want to know if this is a good printer
No recommend avoiding creality
Thanks for the review! Looks like next time I'm considering a new printer, Creality will be on the table again. It does look like they're trying to do things differently than they used to.
Although it is annoying that all of the quick swap designs so far have been proprietary, rather than coming together to come up with a standard.
Great video! Does the K1C have a heated chamber? I can't find it in Creality's marketing info.
Nope.
I have a rooted K1 running klipper with added cam, and hardened nozzles. I love it. For 450 bucks it cant be beat.
I received a new K1C on April 9th, 2024 and had issues with the AI camera until I turned off the first layer detection as that is a LIDAR thing and K1C doesn't have LIDAR. You only want the first switch on and then it will detect things popping off the plate or squirting a rat's nest. So only the first switch needs to be on, the other 2 are for LIDAR. I can't find a retrofit kit for LIDAR on the K1C but I would love to have it.
Great review. Only printer that I’ve had was an Anycubic mega x. It works flawlessly. It’s just slow. I wanted to print carbon fiber so I went with K1C. About 100 hrs so far. Zero problems. Extremely fine detailed flawless 3d prints. I was worried after I decided to buy after reviewing some reviews or Creality. Turns out I made a lucky choice and it’s extremely fast.
Would you please do reviews of 3 d scanners?
Thanks
Great video. You alluded to it a little bit in the video comparing it to the k1 Max. And it also see in the comments you mentioned that the k1 Max had some warp bed issues. I would appreciate if you put together a quick video on the overall comparisons between the K1C and the k1 Max. At this point I'm leaning towards the k1 Max just for the build volume. Thanks!
I actually never got the Max! Maybe if there’s a K1C Max I’ll get it.
Chep had warping issues with the K1 Max as well and it seemed to be the smooth bed surface (A Plate) not having a good enough grip for large scale models. Swapping to a textured PEI bed (B Plate) off Amazon seemed to have fixed it if I remember correctly.
Where can we find the scripts to unlock all Klipper functionalities for k1c?
I dont know if you tried fluidd but I was able to add the camera for my k1c that way & I had that same error in the helper script. for timelapses I had to modify the print start macro to get it to work
What was the modification needed, thanks.
@@petercallison5765 just copy the START_PRINT macro from helper-script > KAMP > Start_print.cfg to your printer.cfg & add HYPERLAPSE ACTION=START at the end.
I also added the macro for QMODE here so it would start in quiet mode
Hello i want to buy the k1c but want to know if the software is now good or still not
So far so good!
The K1 Max doesn't use its lidar for bed leveling, it uses it for pressure advance and flow calibration... relatively poorly I might add. I believe the biggest issue with the k1 series on first layer issues is doing a bed mesh too early while the bed is still heating up and warping as a result. The thin aluminum plate on the k1 and k1max tends to change quite a bit as it heats up, and even at temp needs a few minutes to finish soaking.
Yeah that'll happen when you just try to copy a design and don't actually understand why it's applied. 😂
A good review, thanks!
I’m going to get my K1C this Friday and I am looking forward to getting it, but I am also going to get the silicone socks, as well as brass and hardened nozzles next week, as well as a Maintenance kit that I am supposed to get today. One thing that I don’t think is discussed is the fact that there’s no warranty on any printers that are sold on Amazon, when it comes to things that I think you should discuss on your channel.
The issue that I have with the K1C is something that I have posted a video of it on my CZcams channel. One issue is the way they have a yellow hot glue on the connector that goes to the thermostat and the thermistor. I will make another video on this issue soon on my channel. The new extruder is another thing that I will discuss on my next video compared to the old one, which as far as I can see is an outdated version and date that came with my original K1C. I have a flow tech nozzle that I am going to install hopefully with the next video. The flow tech nozzle is what can be used to have different types of nozzles from the hardened steel nozzle to the different types of brass nozzles.
I do wonder how it compares to the K1 Max. Because do want a bigger build volume tho.
Love your videos!
Would you suggest the k1c or the flashforge 5m pro? They are the same price for me.
Haven’t tried the flash forge, but I’ve been impressed so far with the K1 C
@@thenextlayer thanks
I have a later K1, which I managed to purchase for only £360 pounds, in time limited deals, direct from them! A whole lot less than any bambu XY printer. The new extruder design has been fine, no issues, other than one, when I ran a temperature torture test one time, it jammed and had to clean the nozzle (since replaced to a new one) so even that was not extruder really. The only issue I find, is that the filament is awkward to load in sometimes. Tried all sorts of different cuts, but in the end, as long as I cut/file a point on the end, it normally loads without having to release the bowden tube. Never have any bed sticking issues, though I do use 3d lac, mainly so I don't have to clean the bed each time, I might go 10 prints out more, and just give a light dusting each time. For disclosure, I also have the use of a Bambu X-Carbon, with AMS, which is a great machine. A real work horse, with the AMS, which is brilliant. But.... I just love my K1, it works, I can mess around with it, I've added all the whistles and bells, filters, camera etc, and it does everything I ask of it.
thank you for the giveaway man! love it that youre giving to the community❤❤❤
Creality... Not once again...
My 1st 3d printer, ender 3 v2, came warped... fixed it
Needed a 2nd printer.... Buy a 2nd ender 3 v2 ...
Modified both
But always Warped frame
Warped Bed
Random clogs and string
Even bought a creality spider v3 and make it DD , and it really make it better...
Tried to print a the100 printer, frame came warped because of ender 3 tolerances...
Bought a bambu P1s... Oh man, i really never want to see creality ever again...
Nice review btw! Hugs from portugal!
Looking past the k1c, I never knew that smooth bed sheets can be torn up by petg and stuff. I have had a smooth bed on my prusa mk3s+ for like a year now (cus I'm too broke to get a diffrent one, lol) and I printed petg and asa on it, and besides one asa print getting stuck to it and having to use a razor to remove it, I never had any other problems 🤔. Although it is very much not good for flexible filament, I had to use a glue stick for those to stick
i found out that the k1 camara doe's not work on mailsail it works in fluidd in the camara you need to type creailty in the camara so it works i have np with my K1 just had the new hinges from the k1C mine running perfect from new did have a bed leveling issue where the bed was off slant i sent the bed to the bottom and forced it to level now it perfect level.
I just ordered my K1C along with the Creality Space Pi Filament Dryer that you have displayed in your video. I signed up for their "Upgrade Event" and received a coupon code for 15% off the $559 K1C price and 15% off the $69 filament dryer price. Paid for it thru PayPal and got an extra 2% off the order for a total of 17% off. Thanks for your review...I look forward to receiving mine too.
Cancel your order, I've owned 4 creality printers sent the K1 back, broken out of the box, bad hotend, the other 3 are in various stages of being broken, my 1 bambu has printed more successfully than all combined, creality is garbage, spend a little more and save yourself the headache of working on a creality printer as a project instead of your prints.
Thanks for feedback. I'll give K1C a shot...but if any issues...will not hesitate to send it back.@@bad1c368
@@bad1c368 My Bambu broke after 3 weeks.
Did Creality fix some of the issues you mentioned on the K1 Max? Am tempted to get the K1C, but really want the size of the Max. I have minimal tech skills, so I don't want to get the Max and have to do a lot of fixes and upgrades.
Hmm... awesome review!! I recently bought myself a Flashforge adventurer 5m pro on Amazon as my experience with creality in the past has left a lot to be desired. I wonder if maybe I should have given this printer a chance. But then again, the Flashforge just works great right out of the box. I like the fact that creality has granted root access, though.. I am still trying to figure out how to install klipper on the flashforge as the klipper Flashforge provides is just a standard klipper file set.
Build volume is a bit underwhelming. Can you do a review in the Two Trees Sk1?
My Creality business model theory: It is cheaper to over charge or build in return shipping/customer service gaslighting into cost to build, and not have to pay a QC department. They use cheap labor for Manufacturing, Sales/Customer gas-lighting and Shipping. Then have the customer do the run-in QC for them, and roll the dice on people missing the return window gaining a higher non-return of bad printers.
I got 2 bad "new" k1's out of the box off Amazon and 1 bad refurbished from Creality Official Refurbished (refurb, thinking I was beating the repair times since both my others came non-functional... that idea failed. It came with no screen and they could not get me a screen). I have one half failed benchy to show for 2 months of my time and 3 Creality printers. I guess CZcamsrs only get shipped the "working" ones to bait the rest of us.
Does Creality have US warehouse to ship units and parts from? Bambu does. Where is support based? US with fluent English?
Thank You for all of your content. I enjoy your video's. You have a nice studio and produce quality content. I do need to correct you on 1 thing though. Creality's first Core X,Y printer was actually the Ender 6 to the best of my knowledge. This was long before Bambu was even a dream. If anything - Bambu copied the Ender 6 and less known Ender 7 or Voron printers. The Ender 6 came from the factory 90% enclosed also with an available tophat to make it fully enclosed. I have one myself that is pretty heavily modified. Linear Rails and direct drive extruder. The Ender 6 was before the big Klipper craze. Also before input shaping was available in the consumer / off the shelf 3D printer hobby. The Ender 6 shipped with Marlin firmware and also suffers from VFA's.
Wow! I had no idea and have never heard of it. Thanks!
Not a surprise, both the Ender 6 and Ender 7 had severe issues and Creality has tried hard to bury its mistakes by pretending they never existed. I owned a couple of Ender 7s and Creality just gave up on them almost immediately, dumped stock on the cheap, and moved on. No spares, no firmware updates, no support.
The K1C probes for the brush before it tries to rub anything on it. I haven’t tested it because I still only own the one build plate, but I imagine that if it doesn’t detect a brush it might not try to clean the nozzle on it.
That is right. If the brush is not there, it will not try to clean the tip. I tested this and that is the case. The brush is just stuck on the build plate using some double sided tape. It will work lose after a while. I found a model where you can glue the brush onto, screw into the printer and then use other build plates.
So do you have an update? I want to buy one over the P1S because I really like the open source project and SOME tinkering. I just had a bad experience with a Ender 3 v3 KE though and I also want to print consistently
So far so good! No complaints actually.
So, as an owner of an early k1, I have updated the extruder, replaced the stock hotend, raised the roof, printed out the 270° hinges. As a person who likes to fiddle with tools, it's been mostly fun.
have you added the carbon filter? If so did you buy a K1-c replacement filter or did you source the filter and just print a cowl to hold it?
@doro626 I vent the exhaust outside, so no carbon filter
Ok thanks. @@LostChaos1313
Bed over 100C -> No issues. I've been trying to do PC-ABS with my K1 Max ordered ~12/23 and been running at 310/110 no issues. It's just the PC-ABS i got sucks and can't do any bridging really what's been plaguing me
I would like to see more information about noise while printing in different speeds and with different materials. With the current developments in the 3D printer space, noise becomes an issue for those of us that can't afford a seperate room for 3D printing or are otherwise sensitive to noise. Thanks!
2 Weeks ago now?..How on Earth did I miss This Video?.. Would Have been very beneficial, regardless..This is another Home Run!…Good Detail, Good Notes, Great insight…
Rad🤙🏻
I've been printing with the Creality K1C for 1 month, and I really haven't had any printing problems.
But I was having problems with the filament xd it took me a while to get a good configuration
I got spooked with my K1 Max and returned it after it dugged into the bed so hard.
I bet they are doing a lot better but it took some time for them to fix the issue with an update.
Is there a reason you've not looked at the K1 Max? Is it just that Creality hasn't sent you one? Because the Carbon Fibre focus of the K1C didn't draw me in over the Max. Though that cold swappable nozzle is a nice touch the Max doesn't have.
Yeah I declined to review it if I recall correctly because I wasn’t in Israel at the time due to the war breaking out. So I don’t have one.
I don't think they have the quality control part dialed in yet (or maybe they never will) as I see half of the reviews of K1C (all very recent) on their website had some significant issues. Good thing that K1C was unobtanium a couple weeks ago when I was considering it, so I went with P1S AMS combo. I have a feeling I would be one of those 'lucky' people who got faulty units if I had ordered the K1C.
Please stop calling the k1c open source. They still aren't comliant with the GPL. Various klipper modules are shipped in cpython in binary form.
Am I the only one who wonder about the buildplate issues in 3D printing. Because still after several years of printing on the first bed of my sidewinder x1, i never had a problem with to less or to high first layer adhesion. Or am I just lucky with this particular build plate? The only thing i have to take care is the right temperature of the bed. So far i printed pla, pla+, petg and tpu. I also printed a few parts from abs successfully but I would not recommend this because this hotend is not built for it but the build plate did just fine. So the question is why we don't see this kind of build plate everywhere?
I've bought a K1 Max last week, and received it with the smaller pulleys, unicorn nozzle and magnetic door outlines.
So far, so good.
Oh, and it came with a warped bed too. 🙄
I ordered K1C and received week ago 2024-03-01 and it does not have dampeners in the door hinges. I was expecting that from early model reviews, but unfortunately my doors are loose like in those early K1 reviews.
Shitty!
Where do you buy your bambu printers in Israel as they don't ship directly?
I haven’t bought a printer from them they were all free
But which printer would you send your print to if both were available and ready to print, Bambu or Creality?
Ummm right now probably creality because my AMSes are always giving me trouble and my Bambu’s are always demanding maintenance like cleaning ccameras
Creality because I don't and never will buy from abusive, closed source companies that bribe and blackmail reviewers and throw around NDAs like Bambu and Apple.
What a great video. thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Creality has done CoreXY before this, my Ender 6 is one such example.
Also ender 7
I bought the first gen of the K1 and I had those underextrusion problems. I'm not ready to print on the K1 with CF but I just bought a X1C to use those expensive filaments. There's not any company that manufactures an alternative to the garbage of the extruder. I have the third extruder gen bought with my own money because Creality sent me the "second gen" and I had the same S clogs. Greetings from Spain.
I have a K1 since Christmas, no problems so far
That’s after the fixes. The issues were August
what is the brand of 3d printer behind you?
Probably a Voron
Hey Jonathan! Seriously great video!
I just posted a video today actually where I show a work around on how you can avoid using Creality Print slicer with the v3 and K1C!
It works with basically any slicer and you get access to the web UI again!
Im not just tryin to advertise myself though.. I noticed Creality also only sent a single sided build plate with the v3 but it didnt even come with a wiper!
I think that Is like my main beef with the v3... I hate having to constantly clean that filament wipe spot. Just doesnt make sense to me for them to do the v3 like that the way they did with the wiper. with the v3 they had the perfect bedslinger kinematic for a MMU also. Not sure why they didnta wait on that tbh.
I predict that a larger sized ender 3 v3 is going to be coming out soon, the v3 max and then shortly after that the creality MMU will be out. Mark my words
Congrats on 100K
i agree with creality k1 series is better than bambulab but creality printers dont
have ams
It's not a K1C, but my K1 Max has the camera and does the AI detection pretty well. I've had quite a bit of filament/mess saved from it, especially after I started messing with ASA for the first time.
Naming it the K1C is the better approach since it remove any confusion with the original K1. Had they kept the K1 moniker then how would a buyer know if what they are getting is the new version of an original with all the identified issues.
Creality sells the Textured PIE plate for this machine on Amazon. Does not have the brush. So far the K1C has been steller.
I am literally about to buy one of these 2 printers... This video is assisting in that choice very much so...
Idk why people buy a bottom end manufacturers printer and expect top tier performance and features.
The open firmware is great. So I think my old faithful highly modified ender 3 pro will me replaced😊.
Thanks for the review
Update I just got my printer and it is, very god and a world apart from my old ender 3.
And the only negative things that I can point to is the spool placement, and the placement of the runout sensor mount, no file for a good side mount bracket, but I will just design one.
And the lid also need a little opgrade with some riser.
But very good, quick and easy to use printer, almost to easy to use.
Nice informative video, i am a little bemused by the fact that everyone thinks that we should pay to advertise their channel or product, this should be your cost not ours!
personally I have not really had any issues with my K1 Max..only had to tighten my extruder... got it just as they came out..
The K1 Max had much fewer issues because it came out after the K1 fiasco. It just had bed warp issues.
Is it better than the Voron 2,4?
Apples and Oranges.
I wonder if the desire to use open source firmware (Kevin's Klipper3d, Marlin, etc) will go away if the printer just works. If you're not into the hobby of the printer itself (ala reprap), and just need the prints, then it won't matter. Similar to drone software, if DJI has everything you need, you won't want to load Ardupilot/Pixhawk (PX4), etc.
Because you cannot guarantee no clogs. There is a chance of a clog happening even if your printer is perfect. The printers performance is somewhat at the mercy of the filament its using. Also, nozzles start to wear and get buildup, so over time the chances of clogging do go up. So them saying that the chances of a clog happening after a longer print time, based on the anti-clogging changes they made, is valid.
If I had purchased the original K1 and had these issues, I would not be happy. I don't like my time and money being used for a companies R&D. If I am doing R&D for Creality, then not only should I not have to pay for the printer, Creality should be paying me for my time.
Creality seems to actually be making some good decisions now, and I think their newest printers are very good. Its a shame they wasted 5 years or more playing marketing games by releasing redundant products instead of innovating and making their products better. My first printer was the original CR-10, and that was creality actually being the disruptor and making their name based on their product. Maybe they have come full circle to this again.
The Ai detection issues and others follow a Creality trend of releasing things in firmware that don't work. Would have thought they'd learned better from the initial K1 being released with firmware features that were broken. Will be interesting to see how the Phrozen ACRO stacks up to this and the P1S.
I love the channel but as a video pro I’ve gotta recommend you boost your vocals. Every time an ad comes ones my speakers are on the cusp of waking everyone late at night up since I turned the volume up so much. Keep making buddy, your content has been invaluable!
And the logo stinger at the end just shook the house lol
Thanks for the tip we will do that!
How’s the bed mesh on the k1c? I heard it’s just as bad as the k1 and your mesh isn’t that great
Creality has definitely been making some good progress with their offerings as of late, now they just need to learn how to phase out older versions of things there are barely different than the newer renditions..
I’m not sure this is the printer for me, but it at least gives me some hope that we’ll see open source models approaching the polished of the Bambu Labs machines in a year or two.
You told me to wait for the review, and I’m here for it. 👌
Hope you enjoyed it!
I want to invest some of my company's income on 3D printing. I have a budget of 1k, and want to have the option to print decently big or with high qualities. This way I can sell more printing as a service. So a low error rate is very important!
Which printer would you recommend?
Wait for my video on April 9th…
@@thenextlayer 👀👀👀
@@thenextlayer Am I going to regret the Troodon mini pro I just ordered?
K1C-976A - Creality takes a step back, my doors fly as they please. Also the hotend gets clogged on average once every 15h. The JST connector from the thermistor is well glued until it can't be disconnected, it's just a shame that the pins of the female socket are not crimped and the whole socket falls out of the plate.... I'm waiting for the service response....
What the K1C is better than Bambu P1S? Sorry, I can't hear my X1C is making too much noise. :) I was looking at your honeycomb wall and thinking about the interview with Jonathan. I think it would be awesome to make a gigantic next layer logo (may be with hueforge) and do an "intersect" with the honeycomb wall or multiboard and do a multicolor print. I know a lot of material and long time to print but the result, to my point of view could be nice on your black wall. Just food for thoughts if you ever get uninspired.
yes im subscribed
P1S with hardened gears and ObXidian nozzle. That's what I am running and it's been great. I wouldn't go to a K1 because I wouldnt be able to run an E3D nozzle. Also, longevity and Creality have not been in the same sentence.
any company that locks things down has lost me before they even get me... hint hint bambu. Huge credit to creality for opening up the firmware to users without having to jump through hoops. This means this is a legit possibility for me as a future purchase.
One of the biggest challenges companies like creality have to overcome is that they don't think like a Western customer. They have their own local way of thinking, which is not a bad thing, but if you want to build to suit your target market you have to THINK like your target market. The things you find important may not be what others find important. Far too often companies get stuck with this mindset and instead of asking their potential customers "what do you want?" they wind up telling them "this is what you get to have" and then they spend more time wondering why their customers went elsewhere.
I used to have that mondset too, until I bought a bambu a1 mini. Within 20 minutes of unboxing it I'm getting perfect prints aside from a bad roll of filament (esun pla+). No necessary out of the box upgrades, tuning or tinkering. Replacement parts and accessories are very inexpensive so I grabbed a few extra nozzles and things that will eventually need replacing like build plates, belts fans.
I'm fine with things being "locked down" when the experience is a streamlined as bambu makes it.
@@NWGR I get why someone would want an easy, it is the box expense but I've found that easy isn't really worth anything in the long run. Besides, for me at least, stock is never good enough. I've never owned a car that i didn't upgrade with aftermarket parts. Never had a computer that was left as the manufacturer built it. But for some i guess they're happy to just accept what they're offered. I'm not one of them. To each his own
@@Enjoymentboy That's fine; like you said, different strokes for different folks and all that. I started 3d printing on an ender 3 pro I heavily modified, but these days I want to spend more time with 3d modeling and actual printing.
@@NWGRI don't think being open contradicts having a good out of the box experience. It sounds like the K1C will also have a good out of the box experience, and Prusas also have a good out of box experience. It has more to do with the company paying attention to detail and getting it right, rather than whether or not somebody can flip a switch and do whatever they want.
@@logicalfundy I've already seen a few reviews where the K1C was a very bad out of box experience; creality still has QC issues. Prusa I agree are great printers, but they do take hours to assemble (8 according to prusa for the Mk IV), and the Mk IV is $1100usd, compared to the $600 for a bambu P1P, or even $399 for an A1 once that comes back in stock. So IMHO, they just don't hold the value they used to. In addition, a woodworker on youtube who has 30 something printers (mostly prusa and bambu) recently did a print farm comparison video and the bambu printers had less issues over a two month period. He paid for his printers btw too, so his opinion wasn't skewed. Shop Nation, check it out.
Like I said, these days I want to spend time 3d modeling and printing, not tuning a printer and messing with settings.
Hey Jonathan big fan of your videos, I think you should do the announce of you next clip in the same take, then add the clip when you say the next scene, everything in one take, let the editing do the job. The "extruder woes" and announce of different sections of your video are kinda too forced.
The fact that it took all that to finally do an all metal extruder speaks volumes. Expect cut corners in Creality's products. All of them.
My K1C doesn‘t have more friction on the door hinges. It’s as loose as the original K1.
Odd…
