    Pro tip for Tayler: loyal apprentice trigger ability is an intervening if clause. It means that the ability:
    1) trigger only if the player control the commander at the beginning of combat
    2) checks again for commander on resolution.
    This means that he could have used deadly rolich with the ability on the stack to kill Tymna and avoid the creation of the token.

    Despite all the mishaps in this game. The lightheartedness and casual nature of the video made this a fun game to watch. cEDH doesn't always means perfect gameplay; it's just a higher power level of fun at the end of the day. Still, we got to learn some new unique rules that almost never pop up and it was fun to see everyone's deck, especially Veyran's, go off at some point which makes for a better viewing experience.

    Interesting game, load of misplays, but other than the -8 life I think it all works out in the end. Renegade Tactics says “target creature CANNOT block” but between that and the twiddle you could just switch the targets around and still get through so no real. Issues there. Love the decks! Keep up the good work!!

    Since there weren't enough mistakes on the table, renegade tactics doesn't make veyran unblockable, it just makes it so target creature can't block. Considering the 1/1 Ravenform bite came in afterwards, it could have Chumped veyran. I'm sure she would have taken a different line to still get there (i.e. not cast Ravenform) but still, may as well just add insult to injury on this one, hahaha.

    • @simonskews-poole1364
      @simonskews-poole1364 Před 2 lety +2

      Not a judge, but: effectively in each phase every player is given priority once. When no one acts on their priority, the phase changes. If they act, everyone gets another round of priority until no one does anything. Dylan checked if anyone had an action before the main phase ended, and Tyler did, so the phase didn't change. Then everyone gets priority again, including Dylan, allowing him to re-cast Tymna as it's still main phase.

    • @therealax6
      @therealax6 Před 2 lety +2

      Announcing you want to move phases is proposing a shortcut: everyone passes priority until the desired phase or step is reached. (Passing the turn is the same, where "the desired step" is the next player's untap.) If nobody responds to it, then your proposed shortcut is accepted and it happens. That's how all shortcuts work.
      If someone shortens your shortcut by taking any action (which will, either explicitly (as in this episode, "during your main phase, I will...") or implicitly, say _when_ that action will be taken), then the shortcut only happens until the point it was shortened.
      In this case, the shortcut was shortened to nothing: Tyler stopped it _immediately_ (right after Dylan passed priority) to cast a spell during the main phase. So that happened. And then the game went back to normal: the active player gains priority and can respond to the spell, nobody responded (everyone passed), the spell resolved, _and the active player gained priority again_ - steps and phases don't end immediately when a spell resolves; they only end after everyone passes in succession. You always have a chance to respond to a spell resolving before the step/phase ends. And since this was a main phase, Dylan could still act at sorcery speed, because the stack was now empty.
