      I think if Uber wants good drivers then changing it is smart…but I don’t feel this company is run by people actually in the know. In the NJ area, Uber probably doesn’t want NJ drivers to know which direction we are going which I call the “NY problem” (Uber has to pay NYC drivers more and probably attempts to send NYC jobs to a NJ driver) Most NJ drivers cancel these trips if they are smart as NYC is a death trap and NJ drivers are stuck. As soon as the 200 trip calculators bought me below the threshold I lost the ability to see where I was going and I basically quit ( after 5 years of a being a rated driver) I was basically demoted to entry level Uber - Unethical Business Every Ride

      That is because they do it by 100 rides. If you decline 1 then accept 10 your rate would be 99 if you decline another it drops 1 percent for every ride you decline. Once you get past 100 rides it pretty much resets. So if you decline 15 rides out of a 100 your rate would be 85

    I have been using Uber less and less. The rates are horrible and getting worse! I am in the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area and Uber wants to pay $.50 cpm or less! Absolutely ridiculous! I drive an XL vehicle and hardly ever get any XL rides. I've been using Lyft more lately which pays a LITTLE better, but not as much volume. Might also be moving to Wridz in the near future. As soon as a new ride pops up on the app, the app should show the pickup location AND the destination location for a few seconds on the local map. I'm tired of getting taken down to the hood at night. As a white guy after dark in some neighborhoods, I'm nothing more than a target. I think we should have the right to know exactly where we're going to pick up a rider. I pick up riders of all races, sexual orientation (and no I never ask, but sometimes you can just tell), gender, or whatever - no problem. I love everybody. That's not the issue. I don't care if someone is black, hispanic, asian or whatever. But there are neighborhoods in Houston that would love nothing more than fucking up a white guy. Can anyone relate to this?

      I know what you're talking about. I've been in Houston a couple of times when my cousin lived there and it's a rough city. I live in Pensacola and it's getting bad over here too, with gangs, drive by shootings and murders happening on a weekly basis. I'm a white, middle-aged female who for some reason is always getting the bad rides where I have to go to the projects late at night. I have a high cancellation rate bc now I will cancel the trip if I know it's going to take me to the hood. I'm not prejudiced either but let's face it, there are some mean people out there that would love to grease a white lady for the fun of it so they can brag to their friends about it. I agree that Uber should show where the location is and the destination location is so that we can decide to accept it or not. I don't carry a gun like some drivers do. Let the ones that do carry a gun take this trips but I'm not going to.

    • @scottmccollum9979
      @scottmccollum9979 Před 7 dny

      @dianea.franklinmaltese4205 I understand you fully! Stay safe and continue getting a high cancelation rate if necessary. A few bucks is never worth a negatively life changing or life ending situation that could've been avoided.
      I know I am going to be called racist for this, but black or hispanic drivers have no worries in the white neighborhoods. And that it statistically true.

    This has some good points to it, but unfortunately there’s some bad points to this as well. I’m gonna be hurt like Chris said with the mom who came down with no car seat. I need to have it that if I mark it that she didn’t have a car seat I don’t get punished for that or too many people trying to get in the car or I feel unsafe because you drove me into one of the worst ghetto neighborhoods Don’t care they wanna put the cancellation acceptance rate to 100. That’s perfectly fine with me, but you need to give me the ability to cancel things and not be held accountable for them. It’s not my fault that the mom didn’t bring a car seat. Not my responsibility not fear to meet me go somewhere unsafe that’s not fair.

    • @mrhumboldthippy
      @mrhumboldthippy Před 2 měsíci +1

      Exactly there should be two different types of cancellations, one for the reasons that you stated and other legitimate reasons due to safety and parking and no-show passenger, and then if they want to complain and rate US bad and penalize us because we just straight cancel a trip that doesn't pay well but we should have the right to cancel nobody should have to drive for 5 days there's no time limit or distance on Uber's policy that means that according to Uber if a passenger wants to drive to New York from California you're obligated to accept that ride and if you do not you are getting penalized

      I've been telling Uber that for years now! Why should it count against me if the rider, a mom without a child seat, a minor without an adult or someone wants to bring an open container of alcohol inside my car, be my fault and count against me for trying to do the right thing??? Uber wants their drivers (and riders) to obey the community guidelines but when we do, we can penalized for it. Doesn't make sense and that's why I more or less have quit driving for Uber.

    I drive in Las Vegas, primarily between the airport, the strip, and downtown/Freemont street. My acceptance rate is 32%, and my cancellation rate is 20%. No matter what the day or time, I always only see one dollar sign across the entire city. Fight night it can be a fight night in town or a holiday weekend, a time where I used to see $$$$, and I will only see $, no matter what. The majority of my rides are $4.82. I had a ride come through this past weekend offering $6.82, with a pickup location that was 7.9 city miles away (probably a 25-30 min drive to get to), and the destination was 6 city miles away (approx 20 min). However, despite multiple calls to the help center, they claim that my cancellation rate and acceptance rate have nothing to do with the fact that my pay has drastically changed. I will be at the waiting lot for the airport next to Driver to have $4 and I will only have one $. Do they expect me to get out of this situation when they’re not offering me any incentive or even any opportunity to do so. I drive a new 2024 Tesla Model Y, so I qualify for comfort electric and premier. On Sunday I sat at the Las Vegas airport waiting lot for four hours with only premier and Comfort electric turned on, just to experiment a little (I usually have all options selected). Despite it saying there were only 1-5 cars ahead of me in the queue for both, after four hours in the queue, I still did not get one ride that came through. I must be getting “punished for my CR and AR, but how am I supposed to get out of this rut when the fares being offered to me don’t even equate to minimum wage at the end of a work day???

    What is cancellation rate matter? I sometimes run up to 60% cancellation rate and nothing has ever happened to me on Uber. I get warnings all the time from Lyft that poor customer experience but again nothing happens to me. One of my friends has been suspended or whatever you want to call it for a certain amount of time because his cancellation right on Lyft was too high but Uber doesn't matter as far as I know. And I run a 7% acceptance rate and average $47 an hour. I sit there and cherry pick only the best rides. And that hourly rate is even including sometimes I do entire hours where I don't accept a single ride. But then after I cancel so many rides eventually was $79 for 15 mi comes in or $45 for 10 miles or something like that. Uber wants to work me I just have to convince him to pay me what I need to get paid. And I do that by not accepting rides making me available for when Uber is ready to give me a good thing ride.

    Me and my son do Uber Eats. I am diamond pro with Uber Eats and I am enjoying my Costco membership very much and I appreciate that was free with the gold status. What we do is from when we started we changed the way we accept certain deliveries. We only accept deliveries within 4 miles let's say under five miles. We are looking for over $2 a mile. If it's like 1 mile it should be maybe $3:50 unless I can go on my little scooter really fast and it's like 0.5miles for $2 I'll do it but definitely looking for over $2 a mile and I personally don't go over 4 and a half miles it's not worth the wear and tear in my car it's not worth the gas. We personally don't pick people up we just stick with the deliveries because it's less of a headache . Uber Eats does not pay well but it's less of a headache and less of an issue and I feel safer.😅

    Portland, Oregon is a jurisdiction that allows Uber to operate illegally under basic contact law; the driver is the only party to the deal that does not know the deal until the customer is onboarded, and won't know the fare until the customer is offloaded.

    There's nothing wrong with Uber having a minimum acceptance rate, but but currently it's way too high! I would lower it to 75%. I hear of some people saying to get rid of it all together. But if that happened, no one would pick up the very low paying rides from $3 - $5. Those people need rides too. But when I get 4 $3.50 rides in a row, we need to get to occasionally just say no. Or if you're doing the last drive of the day and you're about to drop them off, and a ride pops up, but you can't go Offline because you still haven't dropped off your rider yet. So you ignore the new ride, but it counts against you. That's not fair!
    And the cancellation rate is too strict as well. I'm a pretty new driver, but sometimes Uber takes me to pick up someone in the hood. I don't mean anything racist at all, but I'm a clean-cut white guy. And believe me, a clean-cut white guy is a target in South Houston, especially at night. I've accepted rides that pop-up and when I get really close to the pickup locations, it is sometimes not safe AT ALL. So at that point I will cancel. I'm sorry the rider was inconvenienced and had to wait for another Uber, but my life is worth more than a $5 drive. I know there's an option to select that let's Uber know it's not safe, that's good, but it's been effecting my stats negatively. Again, that's not fair either.
    Uber's great, but we need to also be collecting a higher percentage of the total cost of the drive. There are time's when I'm making less than $16/hr when I'm paying for the gas and putting wear and tear on my vehicle. Uber as a corporation, makes plenty of cash and they can afford to give us a higher cut the ride.
