They already addressed it with Prop 22 in California. Other states already followed suit or are soon to follow. Unless drivers (and riders) wisen up and form local unions and/or do what New York did, i.e. stand for your rights and drive a fair deal.
uhh....that's not quite what's happening. The insurance companies provide Uber/Lyft with deeply discounted insurance rates, and then Uber/Lyft passes on the insurance costs plus their "fees for facilitating the insurance" (a component of their "external fees") onto the drivers. Basically, if drivers don't agree with the "external fees" from Uber/Lyft, you don't get to drive for them. Classic case of double dipping and coercion (?) Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I work as an independent contractor in my other job and have to pay for my own insurance. For uber/lyft to provide them and no option to purchase on your own should disqualify them from classifying workers as independent contractors. The places I work for do not provide my insurance and do not force me to buy insurance through them.
@@elcoreano11 Exactly! I know some drivers who do get their own rideshare insurance upon the advice of lawyers, but it does not matter. Uber and Lyft will still require them to pay "external fees". I dunno, but to me that certainly looks like coercion.

Sadly, informing the passengers won't really change their rideshare habits. I'm in a resort area on the east coast and , while our driver pay is way better than this, Uber is scamming the shit out of all of us!

I did a 7 miles uberx trip today (3 miles to pick up) for $9 in Long Beach, California. The lady told me Uber charged her $35 for the ride! say goodbye to tips at those rates. I told her next time offer the driver $15 for the trip in cash, they'd gladly take it, no tip needed. She decided to take me up on the offer right away, completed the ride, changed direction back to another place 7 miles away for $10 cash. too bad she was already charged the $35 for the previous ride that Uber only paid $9 for the driver.

Lyft gets most of the money so the riders think that Lyft pays the drivers but it's not the case. the low pay upfront does not make sense. Uber has a grip on the minds of customers, as far as drivers pay , why Uber has flip driver's on an hourly measurement, while they are still using percentage as their measurement. This leach method of paying drivers, keep you on their apps 2x as long for the same or less money.
The bigger they rip off Arizona Uber and Lyft drivers, the easier it is for us to turn them into HUM riders! They are so happy to make sure drivers get 100% of the fare versus paying HUGE FEES just to link the rider up with a driver, while paying the drivers NOTHING.
I got this convo when I'm on vacation, so memorable, nice to share.... Driver: Hello Mr/Mrs Pax, Is this trip for business? Company pay for you or is it from your own pocket? Driver: buy me pizza for 70-75% of that charges, I'll be your friends and drive you there. But if you cancel the ride, company will charge you 5$... Me answer: Let's do it... I'll venmo you, you buy your own pizza because I need to go there, everybody is happy here. I paid Uber/Lyft 5$ cancellation is like paying them matching fees for Tinder. And citizens of the United States have the right to sue a corporation for unfair business practices. What this YT channel is doing is gathering up evidence, and I hope they succeed. I don't like paying $53.04 for a ride only to find that the driver got paid $13.76. That's nuts.

The drivers should come together so there's more resources to start faster and wider because the new co take too long and they start in larger places like LA Vegas etc and they don't seem large enough to actually make the dent we will be waiting for ever I can't even explain the ridiculousness of what they do and when you call you get dumb gaslighting responses and it's always on you or a system issue that randomly corrects itself and I've had more than a few cus share fares with me and I had to watch how i responded but it was mind blowing what they charged cus and the offer they gave me I even had one cus tell me that me and another car were the same distance to him and to his destination and he said their offer on a regular smaller car was 20. more than my comfort ride and asked me why I only was offered 4.46 he was only going 7 min away and I was already in his area so it was only about a 4-5 min drive to get to him but he said I chose yours because I'm only going 7 min away why would I pay 20 more and for a smaller vehicle of course when I called and asked about this I was given a stupid reasoning that the rider had already exposed and when I said that again they then started to say it's based on many factors and I said ok I'd like to hear how I can be considered in those factors to make more and the phone was silent because your lying their game play and cheatings is non stop it's so demeaning as soon as I can make the break im out Ive even been looking for a regular driving job because I need to make more and I need consistency I don't even make half of what I made in 2022 I have no motivation for it anymore and I use to love working for Uber but their practices are so bad it has become depressing to drive for them because your dealing with folks who just doesn't care and when accountability is brought to their door step they gaslight and lie and get worse it's sad
i have stopped going to airport in Boston knowing they take 50% or more.and show friken 20doll trip!sometime 10 11,no joke.
Uber has a grip on the minds of customers, as far as drivers pay , why Uber has flip driver's on an hourly measurement, while they are still using percentage as their measurement. This leach method of paying drivers, keep you on their apps 2x as long for the same or less money.
The problem is the desperate drivers will take anything and everything.. Keep declining ride after ride after ride.
HUM Rideshare I'm ❤'n
The bigger they rip off Arizona Uber and Lyft drivers, the easier it is for us to turn them into HUM riders! They are so happy to make sure drivers get 100% of the fare versus paying HUGE FEES just to link the rider up with a driver, while paying the drivers NOTHING.
I got this convo when I'm on vacation, so memorable, nice to share....
Driver: Hello Mr/Mrs Pax, Is this trip for business? Company pay for you or is it from your own pocket? May I know how much does it cost you?....
Me answer: "It's for my personal, $$$"
Driver: (Whatever the price higher than 30 USD doable).... OMG so the company still ripping off the pax. This is not normal. If you want, ONLY if you want though, I can help you save your money...
Me answer: Oh really? How?
Driver: buy me pizza for 70-75% of that charges, I'll be your friends and drive you there. But if you cancel the ride, company will charge you 5$...
Me answer: Let's do it... I'll venmo you, you buy your own pizza because I need to go there, everybody is happy here. I paid Uber/Lyft 5$ cancellation is like paying them matching fees for Tinder.
Me thinking: Why don't Tinder make Tinder Ride? I'll make friends with all Tinder drivers, guaranteed background checked LOOOOOL
Cancellation fee is for the assholes who made us waste gas
7:53 - 8:05 : fireworks? really? I just don't see it

I like you guys a lot but walking 7 miles in 45 minutes? You might be slightly off there
As an independent contractor, the company has the right to set any price they want .it does not matter how much they are charging the clientele. It is up to you drivers to take or decline it. If you do not like what you make .go find you a nine to five job. Uber and lyft are not gonna cry if you leave the platform. Quit wining.😂
Psychopaths do exist, ^proof.
💯
And citizens of the United States have the right to sue a corporation for unfair business practices. What this YT channel is doing is gathering up evidence, and I hope they succeed. I don't like paying $53.04 for a ride only to find that the driver got paid $13.76. That's nuts.

You can always call a taxi cab .they pay their drivers well.
Independent contractor means take it or leave it.period. somone else will pick it up eventually regardless what uber or lyft charge. Drivers are not employees.
They get paid by the piece.means by each ride.
@@AC-or8qt My sister and her husband own a taxicab company. Cabbies are not paid wages, rather they have what's called a boundary. Anything after the boundary is theirs. Basically, it's more like a rental company. Obviously, you need to do a bit more research.
Please pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,,stop doing like evil,,,
What a scam
Automatic self driving cars are coming soon, so ALL you people can stop whining and complaining while you're in the food stamp and UBI line. Get a real job or learn a skill.
The goal of capitalism is to eliminate all jobs, and look around it’s happening.
The customer isn't looking forward to a cheaper ride, the customers are looking forward to autonomous driving.
Ain’t ever going to happen the technology is not as reliable as it needs to be and there’s no way to improve it.
