I feel the whole event is ridiculous and England should just sit it out due to self respect. It’s rigged, it’s over the top, and a lot of the songs just don’t make sense. Especially when non English Europeans feel the need to sing in English but the translation gets wonky. Personally, I love Poland and their language but their pop music, I take a pass. After I giggle.

"Power To All Our Friends", has a hippy feel, extolling the virtues of the simple life like "living off the land".
Cliff segues confidently between soft, earnest verses and a brassy, rocking chorus.
"Power to the bees" he exhorts and who can argue with that?

I love this guy, cos of his great Christmas song. And for this song and "Congratulations". This one is even better, shame that he hadnt won win "Congratulations".

Congratulations came 2nd but it sold over 4 million records and was No 1 in 5 European counties, the song that won in 1968 ' La La La'' sold about 10,000 copies and wasn't even a hit in it's own country

But how the hell couldnt Congratulations win?! Maybe fake voting. Biggest crime ever. It would be like he had predicted his own victory. Why couldnt it be so magical? Im devastated

Yes you've got to hand it to Cliff he does give his all. General Franco conspired against the song in 1968 I seem to recall.

stevebbuk yes he did and thats why he is an asshole. One of voters is an asshole too. We all know these were falsed votes. I wish it were 1969 then. Him and Massiel as winners. Lets think it was like this.

If he'd have given Eurovision one more crack in 1976 with Devil Woman, no song in the world would have come close. Shame.

This was the year when they changed the rules to allow the backing track to be played on a tape and the musicians mimed their instruments. Trevor Spencer comes in a few seconds too late on the bongos. ESC should have remained a 'live' only contest IMO. Nice harmonies by the great John Farrar.

El pobre de Cliff Richards tuvo la mala suerte de que las dos veces que concursó en Eurovisión, España quedó un puesto por delante suyo en las votaciones.
