    In *28 Days Later* I thought the "eye moment" was going to be when the crow eating the infected corpse dripped blood in Frank's eye. 👁That scene still haunts me.

    That scene in Nope genuinely freaked me out. Think it will probably live rent free in my mind for the rest of my life.

      Yep, to this day (almost 40 years after I saw it for the first time) I still say it's the scariest part in any movie that I've seen (and I've seen hundreds of horror movies).

  • @cubemissy
    @cubemissy Před 7 měsíci +22

    I was so traumatized by Nope that I didn't even remember that the creature went to the group of people because it couldn't eat the metal horse..
    But....I'd argue the few seconds in the aftermath of the Chimp's attack was scarier.

    • @JorenMyers
      @JorenMyers Před 7 měsíci +10

      The chimp’s freakout was, without a doubt, the most disturbing part of the film. To see something so familiar, innocent, and often heartwarming as a beloved family sitcom suddenly become a bloodbath in such a realistic way felt much more relatable than the unknowable alien at the center of the story.
      When you add in a scared child watching most of the people he’s closest to be savagely murdered by an innocent (and cute) creature he had formed a personal bond with and you’ve got some really underrated traumatic cinema.
      Who hasn’t wanted a chimp as a pet?

    In 28 days, its not about repopulating the species. The guy just "promised them women" as he puts it. Basically, he promised to get them sex slaves.
    A thought/idea that makes the brutality of their deaths all the more appropriate.
    Their fatal judgement as they are just picked off, is probably one of the best scenes in the film. The other being the opening of an abandoned London.

    The first movie in the Final Destination series, the death scene involving a laundry line and a bath ... Gives me shivers even thinking about it as I type, but the moment where the supernatural / perfectly possible strangulation results in the bursting of all the blood vessels in the victims eyes as he struggles to find his footing ... Shudders, would never have one of those things in my home because of that film.

    For me, one of recent memory is without a doubt, seeing bone marrow drip on a wire mesh in Saw X. Not saying that anything else in the film is a breeze to get through but for some reason, that shot of the bloody, fatty tissue dripping, knowing what it is in the context of the film, is such a visceral image... Easily the one scene that unnerved me the most last year.

    I know it's not up here and many won't agree but there was so many scenes in The Exorcist that left me scarred for months! This was my introduction to horror movies and it literally scared the 😈 outta me. I don't know why i wanted to watch anymore horror after that but i did, became addicted and been a fan every since 😂.

    I've been subscribed to WhatCultureHorror since it became it's own thing independent of the WhatCulture main channel. Back when Ash was still a part of it. And after all of these years, I still don't understand why you guys don't put time stamps in your videos (or at least in the description) and why you just put the name of the production company in the bottom corner when you show clips, and not ALSO the title of the film. Some of us would like to skip the movies we haven't watched yet, since WhatCulture has no qualms with absolutely spoiling endings. And this new thing with abruptly ending the videos (sometimes even mid sentence) is pretty odd. Not even a short outro anymore. If it's too much work to do the bare minimum, then maybe just retire this channel and reincorporate horror coverage within the main channel again.
