Thank you, someone who agrees that 13 Ghosts was a good movie. Hell, it was a better version than the original. Plus, seeing the backstories and having Cyrus narrate them was a good idea. Also, the pool scenes from Ghost Ship, you know that the ship where those scenes were filmed, you can stay at in real life, right? The Queen Mary was turned into a hotel that also provides ghost tours on a regular basis. It's docked somewhere in California. Got to visit it a few years ago, was pretty cool seeing that pool.

“House of 1000 Corpses” is one of my favourite movies. I love horror films. I ended up secretly watching it as a kid (12) on VHS, while my mom was taking a nap.
The hype around that movie the year or so before it came out was so legendary, the movie was destined to fall short and it did for me. It's just a remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Malignant. I went in wanting an intense horror film, by the police station scene I was on the edge of my seat clearing for the Matrix level of action. It's now one of my absolute favorites

I did like the movie. And I would watch it again anytime. Toward the middle of the movie, it did slightly cross my mind that Angela could be the serial killer. You know, it's always the quiet ones you have to watch out for .
Dark Castle really came up with an airball in their quest to revamp William Castle's catalog. But I will never put THIRTEEN GHOSTS completely into the dumpster fire category, due to a balls-out performance by Matthew Lilard, and the obvious care and passion that went into the creature and production design. Not to mention some diabolicaliy good practical and visual effects. It's only right that it shares this list with MALIGNANT. They're kind of soulmates....
I was very surprised at how good the Best Worst Movie documentary was. The original cast recreating some of the scenes was hilarious. I've actually never seen Troll 2 and I'm not at all interested in watching it. But I would definitely watch the documentary again.
I felt so guilty when I saw Truth or Dare. People were dying in objectively horrific ways, but I couldn't stop laughing! I can't say I agree that all of the movies on this list are trash, but that one is definitely enjoyable horror trash!

Ummmmmm, who the fuck says Sleepaway Camp is trash, like it maybe is a B horror flick, but “trash” it is not. Honestly I’d say it’s a predecessor of Scream, being aware of horror tropes (maybe in a less obvious way) and actually has some of the better kills from the 80’s slasher craze. Literally a masterpiece, and I won’t hear anything else if it. Sorry, but it’s the truth!

my favorite part of jason X is when he comes across the hologram where they distract him and when it flashes back he's beating one sleeping bag with the other (each one has a half naked girl trapped in it) LOL
I'll be honest one of my favorite things about Sleepaway Camp is the simple fact that the teen campers are actually played by teenagers Meanwhile I noped out of Toxic Avenger when the kid's head got run over in the first 15minutes... So yeah this all tracked

I. Freaking. LOVE. Thirteen Ghosts! I know it's not good, I know it's not A+-material, but by god the special effects are awesome and the story, though a bit corny at the end, is absolutely wholesome. I will die on that hill to defend that movie, gosh darnit!
Jason X did have the second best kill of the series, and redid the best kill of the series! Sleepaway Camp has one of the creepiest characters in Aunt Martha! The Toxic Avenger is such a crazy fun film, the sequels not as much! Maniac is such a weirdly fun film, and Caroline Munro is the cherry on top! Thirteen Ghosts is such a fun film and is slightly better than the original! Troll 2 is so fun and has the best "popcorn scene" with a gorgeous woman in any movie!
I have a soft spot for these types of horror movies.... and can confidently say that I have seen all 10 of the ones on this list (first time in a while with a WhatCulture list). Jules pronouncing Troma as Trauma is a tiny bit grating but I have to try to remember we're not from the same part of the world and things are not pronounced the same everywhere. Love you, Jules, you're my favorite of the WhatCulture team.
-Malignant isn’t even bad, it’s not supposed to be taken seriously. -Jason X is no campier than any of the other ones, it works for the era in which it came! -Toxic Avenger is literally such an iconic 80s classic. -Truth Or Dare is ridiculously over hated & it did something unique which is taking a game like truth or dare and making it into a horror, it’s the ending that honestly ruined it. -Thirteen Ghosts is a 2000s horror CLASSIC! -Knock Knock is more suspense thriller than horror, and it’s actually a really wild fun ride, it’s basically the strangers w 2 crazy chicks.
i always appreciate when the more schlocky films get this kind of recognition. terrible effects or an absurd premise doesn't mean it can't still be a fun watch.
Many of these may be considered bad but we all love our guilty pleasures every now & then. I always love the scene in Jason X when the professor says that Jason just wanted his machete back right before he is killed. I laugh every time I see that scene because u can just see Jason looking at the guy thinking to himself: Is this guy seriously disrespecting me right now. Well I'll fix that." Right before killing him. Also 13 ghosts will always be a guilty pleasure of mine especially considering that the DVD gives us the background of each of the ghosts which is always amazing in terms of extras content for a movie
Thir13en Ghosts is one of my favorite movies. The concept and design was great. I also think the backstories for each ghost really adds more insight when watching the movie.
13 ghosts like ghost ship are 2 of my all time favorite horror movies and the slimy lawyer getting cut im half by a glass door one if my alltime favorite horror movie kills 😁 i really wish they would make a 13 ghosts series as all the ghosts actually have fascinating backstories that a well worthy of a horror series
13 Ghosts isn't a trashy movie. I'll have to check out Malignant and a few other movies on this list though if they are as good as 13 Ghosts I'll be super happy with them. Side note: this 13 Ghosts has very little in common with the original which was less scary than a typical episode of Lassie.
Amidst the low budget aesthetics and camp acting, the shock ending of Sleepaway Camp is so memorable. It is both exploitational and somehow very poignant with themes of grief, bullying and child abuse in there. It is nuts though.
I have shown everyone i know malignant because of that insane twist and the unintentionally funny physical acting. Love that movie but like in a “so bad its good” way
"Dr. Giggles" is a wild film. "Silent Night, Deadly Night" has a real sadness to it and a ridiculous "controversy" raising its profile! I wonder what THOSE people would think about Art the Clown and the Christmas themed "Terrifier 3"? "T3" makes "SNDN" look like a family classic.
I'm sorry, Jason X is my favorite Friday the 13th movie, simply because it is so off the rails and ridiculous. But my love of schlock horror movies is sort of legendary.
13 ghosts was gonna be loved by me just for Matthew Lillard, but the set design was great and I loved that the ghosts were given story in the extras… but it does have rough moments lol. And yeah Jason X is the epitome of so bad it’s great
Maniac for me is the best movie on this list. And I definitely don't see it as "Trash" Joe Spinell turned in such a totally F****d up mesmerizing unforgettable performance. And the practical effects by Savini are amazing
The people who made "Smile" could've (and _SHOULD'VE_ ) taken a lesson from "Truth or Dare" on how to make a smile look sinister. The only person's smile that was creepy, was Rose's psychiatrist's. _EVERYBODY_ in Truth or Dare had a creepy smile. Having said that, "Smile" was _MUCH_ better that Truth or Dare, but I still liked it
I have to wonder how the crew came up with the definition of Trash as Malignant, Sleepaway Camp, 13 Ghosts and Knock Knock are solid flicks and Sleepaway and 13 is a cult classics these days.
I like this list, there's a few I've never heard of, a few I've never seen, and a few I haven't seen in years I'm inspired to try to find and watch as many of these I can before the summer is over

I. Freaking. LOVE. Thirteen Ghosts! I know it's not good, I know it's not A+-material, but by god the special effects are awesome and the story, though a bit corny at the end, is absolutely wholesome. I will die on that hill to defend that movie, gosh darnit!
Jason X has Lexa Doig in it.
That is enough for me
Thirteen Ghosts is one of those movies I really enjoyed. I feel like Leigh Whannell could do a good remake.
I did not love Knock Knock but DAMN I LOVED that’s scene in the thumbnail
"Ordered Final Destination thru Wish." That got you the thumbs up.
I actually really like 13 Ghosts. The design and ghosts are really quite something and it'd be great to get a bit more out of that universe.
I will defend Sleepaway Camp and House of 1,000 Corpses with my life. You leave those gems alone
Oh yeah Jason X is definitely a guilty pleasure for me.
For sure. Plus,Kane Hodder said he had a great time making it.
I watched Knock Knock literally just for Ana De Armas 😻
The ghosts in 13 ghosts are amazing
House of 1000 Corpses is my favorite Rob Zombie movie. Knock Knock was actually frikin hilarious!
Yeah Truth or Dare, those Joker smiles were hilarious to me🃏🃏🃏
Sleepaway Camp! Loved it, the ending was spectacular. LOL
What a fun list! Some other contenders; "Slither", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre II", "Basket-case" and "Brain Damage".
Malignant could be worse. It could be about murderous tumors
I like a lot of these, especially Sleepaway Camp. I met Felissa Rose at a comic con last month, and she's a super awesome person.
There was nothing even remotely trash about malignant. Great acting, gore, suspense, action, and a worthy twist.
I am utterly obsessed with Jason X and Sleepaway Camp! Take care, Jules.
The Happening & Sleepwalkers are comedic gold
i always appreciate when the more schlocky films get this kind of recognition. terrible effects or an absurd premise doesn't mean it can't still be a fun watch.
Usually, when those two factors combine, it means it WILL be a fun watch.
Sleepaway camp was actually really good.
Maglinant was entertaining but wasn't trash.
13 Ghosts is one of my guilty pleasure
Jason X is such great over the top cheese. It was fun watching it in cinema.
How dare you, calling MANIAC "utter trash"? It's an absolute masterpiece - and also it's not Horror, it's a Drama ...
Yeah, Maniac was excellent and not trash. But the 1980 original is definitely a horror film
Love that movie but like in a “so bad its good” way
Malignant is a 10/10 drunk movie night with the fellas movie
"Dr. Giggles" is a wild film.
"Silent Night, Deadly Night" has a real sadness to it and a ridiculous "controversy" raising its profile! I wonder what THOSE people would think about Art the Clown and the Christmas themed
"Terrifier 3"? "T3" makes "SNDN" look like a family classic.
House of 1000 Corpses...one of the best opening scenes ever IMHO. Capt Spaulding!!!!
I'm sorry, Jason X is my favorite Friday the 13th movie, simply because it is so off the rails and ridiculous. But my love of schlock horror movies is sort of legendary.
yall are dead wrong about House of 1000 Corpses. It's amazing from beginning to end and so was the sequel, Devil's Rejects.
Whatculture can piss off. Jason X, House of 1000 Corpses and The Toxic Avenger are all awesome and no one will ever change my mind.
IDC how many bad lists Jason X, 13 ghosts, sleepaway camp or troll ends up on I love them
The people who made "Smile" could've (and _SHOULD'VE_ ) taken a lesson from "Truth or Dare" on how to make a smile look sinister. The only person's smile that was creepy, was Rose's psychiatrist's. _EVERYBODY_ in Truth or Dare had a creepy smile. Having said that, "Smile" was _MUCH_ better that Truth or Dare, but I still liked it
Sad not to see Prom Night III on these kinds of lists. Still one of my favorites.
Maniac is...nasty but good. Also, I love Jason X.
I have to wonder how the crew came up with the definition of Trash as Malignant, Sleepaway Camp, 13 Ghosts and Knock Knock are solid flicks and Sleepaway and 13 is a cult classics these days.
I was happy to see Jason X on their. It gave me nostalgia for the Blockbuster horror section.
I like this list, there's a few I've never heard of, a few I've never seen, and a few I haven't seen in years I'm inspired to try to find and watch as many of these I can before the summer is over
Malignant was amazing! So rewatchable with a killer soundtrack.
I seriously enjoy Camp sleep away, it's such a classic. There are a few others that are a guilty pleasure.
I actually do love a few movies on this list.
