On Sunday we had a surprise visit and nearly lost one of our chicken !!!! That made us change plans for the day and just adjust them slightly ... more land clearance was needed
Andrius was working on a tractor .. and I was doing my jungle shower make over ... Supper happy with the result ;)

Loved watching the sped up video of you knocking down trees, left and right and pulling them straight out. Just like a Super Woman. That fox wont want to mess with you and your girls again.

I do think they can feel danger .. as few of our neighbours chickens was taken by same fox :( and no chicken goes that way any longer ...

Unfortunately foxes will always find chickens, but cutting back all that brush definitely makes their job harder. Good news that the hen seems to have fully recovered from the whole awful experience. Love the modifications to the jungle shower set up, I see what you mean about feeling slightly exposed! I bet that drop of rain started everything into life just nicely. It doesn’t matter how well you water the plants a drop of rain works miracles! As a drone pilot I think you did a pretty good job! I don’t think Andrius realises just how lucky he is in how well you adept to new challenges! Hope there’s no more raids on the chickens, have a good week.❤
Hello Rosemary :) hope you well !!! our neighbours got 60 chickens and they walk free everywhere so fox definitely smell that .. and she nicked some of our neighbours chickens already :( our chickens don't go that side where she usually comes form ..I think they feel it's not safe .. but this time she came closer to our farm .. but hopefully she won't be that brave as she was chased by cat, rooster and dog and me LOL it would be best to fence all area but it would be to expensive and just have to hope we will be lucky .. plus I do close them in from time to time .. they don't mind that as well :)

I'm so sorry about the attack, but very happy your chicken survived, and seems to be doing well. With your clearing of some of the hiding places for the fox, and so lessening chances of successful fox attacks, I hope all will now be peaceful on your beautiful property, and your chickens safe.

So sorry about the chicken attack.. pretty upsetting for you all.. 🫂 I am glad the neighbours field is cut as predators could easily have hidden in the long grass.. what an excellent job you did of all that, Andrius. I love the shower, Giedre.. looks amazing, as does the broom cutback area.. there was no stopping you! 💪👩🌾

Oh my hat........it took me a good few minutes before I could even open the video ...... Oh the absolute terror for ALL of you. I am really stupid when it comes to things like this but, did the fox attack during the day? If so, that would concern me as don't they usually prey at night?

Hello Sonya !!! Bless you .. that's why I said she is ok at the beginning so no one would be worried xxxx as I realised she is alive just after 15 min .. was so happy about it !!! she attacked about 11 am .. morning time I am guessing she got babbies so she needs to feed them :)
Thanks for sharing another video with us. If there is a fox with ur chickens in mind it may become a problem. U need to make sure ur chicken coop is predator proof. Am happy ur chicken survived . Like unsaid streaming and making sure predators do not have areas to hide and ambush. Maybe there is aome aoet of repellant u may use to keep the fox away. Glad to hear all ur animals survived . I m concerned with ur kittens and even ur elderly cat. They can become a target. Situations like this are alwaya stressful.
Hello, we don't overthinking on that as it's a nature and you can do your best .. if you will be scared or worried to much then what is the point to keep animals or pets? our coop is safe and we made sure that it is safe from the start :)

Chicken houses and chicken runs are only safe if they have a metal mesh "skirt" horizontally (as well as vertically) laid all around the ground, all around the wire mesh "wall"

Olá meus amigos lamento muito o que aconteceu com as galinhas mas felizmente todas as galinhas estavam bem. A noite tem de meter todas as galinhas no galinheiro para ficarem em segurança . De manhã entao sim elas podem sair a raposa ja nao anda por perto. A Gi fez um excelente trabalho já limpou o terreno cortou todos os arbustos .

I'm so sorry your poor chicken was attacked, foxes are a real problem and can cause real devastation, the less places they have to hide the better. Your outdoor shower looks fantastic with it's bamboo screen G, it would look nice with the bamboo all around it. I can't get over how fast things grow on your property, the vegetables have grown heaps since you planted them a week or two ago, amazing, it must be a never ending job keeping your grass cut with so much growth.

@@portugalitis We also, here in Victoria, Australia, have a real problem with foxes G and I have had chickens devastated by them in the past. The nasty creatures killed 6 of my chickens but only took one away, they kill just because they enjoy it, foxes are very nasty creatures. xxx

Glad your chicken survived, and love the outside shower area, I have bamboo and I need to make and a frame for the peas to grow up it and the beans as I will need to pot them on but just thinking I will just put in outside beds with in the next week I think, next week is cooler for us in the southeast of Uk, see you next time xxx

you fold the mesh, part of it is vertical and mos of it horizontal, and it has to be well attached to the mesh wall, every few contimeters

If they are Mimosa trees that you've been cutting down, then the only way that you are going to get rid of them is to also dig their roots out, once and for all. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But they will re-grow at a tremendous rate unless you do so. And they are also very flammable and are great bush-fire material. So....totally clearing them is about the only option.
Hello :) Yes we know about mimosas ... they are VERY VERY VERY hard to get rid off (i noticed they don't like salt or salted water (brine from olives helped to get rid of some) .. but in this occasion I was getting rid of Spanish brush which is as well grows like crazy ... G

Labas !!! :) That was always the plan to have bigger dog but because we got so much to do and it just not ready yet .. we want to be ready to have time to train and to take care of new dog :)
Your rooster stepped-up and did what he was supposed to... sad that the little fox was also just doing what Nature designed as well. Don't want to increase your worries but a bigger fox will sometimes kill cats as well if hungry enough [well, in Canada anyway where it is sometimes an issue in the suburbs as foxes can co-exist in cities quite well here.
