It's like if superman 64 was actually good.
Dr . Wub yep
I refuse to believe that mirrors edge would be this bad if it was released in 1998
Going through rings is the only gameplay... sound fimailar? (Superman 64 came out the next year) there were many good first person games at the time I just think Mirrors edge would of been better than just going through rings
Would be more pleasant if the character didn't turned like a truck without power steering
That would probably help but I don't know
A video from 2018 asking the question of "What would a 2008 game look like if it were made in 1998?"
The level of 8age is weird
It's so interesting how the color scheme of Mirrors Edge on its own is so distinct to the time it came out, like I couldn't imagine a game from 98 with that aesthetic. That said you killed it with the DEMAKE as always
Powerbath wipeout
... Wipeout??
It's so true, the aesthetics of Playstation games in the 90s was just use any random combination of colors. xD
Some good examples are Assault Rigs or Wipeout XL.
I think considering the minimalism being a defining feature of the game it would have really stood out back then (not unlike as is did when it came out). Liiks like Spiderman PSone :D
Hey tape, what about you doing one the "right way"?
This channel is criminally underrated. Keep up the amazing work!
Arcanum Lux Yeah! The amount of effort and work in some of these videos is crazy.
This game looks sick even in 1998
Not really
Men just ignore the Dreamcast which came out 1998
I know this is thrown around everywhere but...this is the most underated channel in the site
Murillo Ferreira yep, right alongside internet comment ettiquette and nakey jakey
a channel isnt underated. It has success or not and that's it
Wahaaa and captain disillusion
Wahaaa dog bless
Murillo Ferreira
Yes, it's thrown around everywhere to the point it has no meaning now.
First-person Superman 64
lol
And it actually looks good.
This dude seriously needs to start releasing these games.
Cringe Lord these aren't full blown "games" tho, they're just animated/scripted set pieces I believe
Sid Patil
Yep, they are
Figure Out The Codes no they arent, the guy who make these already said its just animations
@@delusionalnoodles nope, they arent
One of my favourite franchises ever. Nothing else has been able get close to capturing the same atmosphere (Solar Fields music helps). Safe to say this was a fantastic remake! Loved the menu ambience at the beginning!
Solar Fields is so damn good
play dying light it has great parkour
@@literallyvergil1686
Mirrors Edge is far superior, and it came first
@@luca_uy6529 and it was in inferior in every other way. Gun play, fighting, world building and story sucked badly. Even in Mirrors Edge 2 which came after Dying Light.
@@Comicaffin I gotta admit mirrors edge 2 was dog shit, but the original Is an incredible experience in my eyes. Beautiful city filled with vibrant colors, the parkour gameplay, and the emphasis on good flow was amazing for myself as I've been doing parkour for almost 4 YEARS, the game being ever so slightly realistic than a zombie riddled city in the middle east
You have managed to translate that open and airy vibe of ME to Dreamcast\PSX esthetics perfectly! Also very nice DnB OST in background. Reminds Makoto back in the days. I would listen it occasionally if you would put it somewhere on patreon\soundcloud etc. Thanks again for your creative work!
The music isn't made by me, so if you check the description you can listen to it occasionally as it is!
Thanks for pointing out. Anyway it fits visual and esthetics of the era perfectly as it sounds pretty similiar to homegrew dnb written in music trackers and spread over irc channels, bbs etc
the music does have a kinda 3rd strike vibe to it, if that's what you mean by "makoto back in the days."
What 😂
Dreamucast looks miles better than the ps2
@@BavarianM Not really
Breath of the Wild in 1998, please
YES PLEASE! I would also love to see that!
Sooo, Ocarina of Time?
SoundChaser23 for real lol
Splatoon in 1998?
SuperheroOfBMX Not really, they don’t look, feel or play at all alike.
Funny thing about it is... I could really see this being a game that came out on the Sega Dreamcast in 1998, The imagery and music just has that dream cast feel that you just wouldn’t expect PlayStation or Nintendo 64 to have, they have different aesthetics.
You mean Sega Saturn, this graphics doesnt look good enough for a Dreamcast game
If Half Life was Made in...oh wait...
Bravo man
This is brilliant
Mirrors edge works perfect for this
You should do super hot or like a choice based life is strange or until dawn
WOW GREAT IDEA!!!! PLS DO IT!!!!
Until Dawn only... Life is strange is trash and doesn't deserve a downgrade...
Bob Tom well there aren’t a lot of big titles that are player choice / choose your own adventure or outcome nowadays
They weren’t terrible games I actually liked the form but yea
I agree with until dawn being more worthy of the demake for sure
SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT
This is the most fast paced game I've ever seen you demake and create. Well done❗
This looks like something I would of been hyped for actually o_o
Would have*
Pulse80 I'm from the south bro.
Here everything is
would of*. Or
I ain't*
Stop pushing your oppression on my culture!!! XD
Fault Heh. Fair enough ;-)
Faulty Muppet Dude... no... it is spelled "Would have" in English to follow the rules of the language. You might say it in a different way, but it is still spelled the way it was originally said. It isn't optional on how you spell it if you are trying to go for proper American english.
Complete with a looping DnB soundtrack. Very apt for the time. 👍
I love that little detail.... also..what's DnB...
Bob Tom drum n' bass
AWal /)
I don't remember any games from 1998 that did that...
Wow man, great as usual! Loved the look of the buildings
you can feel the clunky tank controls in your fingers as you watch this
This felt like those early 2000s flash games, when they started adding 3D to them. Heck even that intro felt like something from a flash game, with the quality set to low.
Wow nice work keep it up!
If Shadow Of the Colossus was made in 1998
This looks so amazing and authentic that I'm feeling nostalgia! That could be the nicely chosen Rollcage-style music :P
This looks like the kind of game you had great memories playing on a demo disc as a kid, then reminisce about as an adult without having ever owned it.
If ARK was made in 1998
*shows switch version*
Could you do this with a batman arkham game?
Dammit, now I wanna go back and play mirrors Edge. I remember buying it, only to beat it just hours later. What a game though.
the minute camera movements make it look so much more legit
What about Splatoon? I'd love to see it in a retro style :D
Its close... Mirror's Edge got released 10 years later :D
Absolutely underrated channel this stuff is amazing!
*98DEMAKE is back, the order has been restored.*
Pls do If bloodborne was on psx
good video
It just came out
I like how you can even see the d-pad tank controls.
Interesting concept...and I must say an accurate portrayal of how a lot of late 90s games used to function. I will check out more of your work.
Do: If Five Nights At Freddy's was created in 1998.
Baterry Loser Bud, it already looks like its in 1998.
Wow, interesting!
I remember you from somewhere ;)
I love your channel!
It's good to see you, YoungNAF
I remember you
I like how you got the aspect ratio correct. It plays full screen on my CRT correctly. It looks really authentic.
It amazes me how far we have come technologicly. To think that a dude in his private time can make "games" that look exactly like Something that needed over a hundres people for 2-3 years just wow
Not really Superman 64 which is bigger than this game here only had 26 people working on it
Looks very nice!!! Know that, you have subcrider from Russia )))
Россия рулит!
Moda 84 конечно рулит))))
DemoNicanT Очень Злой dont rigg the elections next time
jk
yes, don t rigg next time)))))
Hey @98DEMAKE, how did you render the 3D visuals to be all pixelly like the PS1? I work in game development and it has been extremely frustrating trying to recreate the effect.
I'd check out some tutorials on rendertextures if you use unity
i'm no expert but if disabling anti-aliasing and keeping the resolution low isn't good enough you should also try using affine texture mapping like a lot of ps1 games had
Burger fiend i emailed him awhile back ,his trick is exactly what it seems.
He renders the video at 360p; than scales it up so the pixels are noticed.
You could also make a shader that adds errors to vertex positions to get the old unprecise 3d feel.
Wish I could go back to 98 and show everybody concepts of games from today. That would be awesome.
I absolutely did not expect THIS, but on second thought, I guess you're right! It would really look like this!
We need more content like this and not the "its everyday bro" bullcrap that we have now, come on who's with me! ✊
if ''everyday bro'' was made in 1998
We found a low-poly body in the suicide forest
maybe if you stopped watching videos made for children you'd see less of shitty content made for children
I think that the biggest problem, was the CZcamsrs responding to it... Jake Paul shit never showed up in my or most people over twelve's feed
Just videos of people complaining about him that made him more famous
I'm with you!
You even reproduce the "glitchy" hitbox, love that :D !
Really highlighting how finnicky old controls and level design used to be so so accurately
Faith’s model looks amazing. Well done!
Even the camera movement gives back the keyboard\d-pad like turning.
Hey 98, good work on this, really looks like an actual game! If you ever decide to make this an actual game, please do! Your previous works (Especially with the games you made) and beyond could make a whole new nostalgic genre.
Great detailing, I love the camera movement like a dpad and the frame rate.
Your such an underrated channel, love your work keep it up :)
This channel gives me endless entertainment only wanting the games to be released in 1998.
I like how you don't just potatofy the graphics. You actually change the gameplay to fit design and limitations of the time which is cool
i miss these series ! please keep making !
I love how there are no arms/hands. Dam accurate to how it’d be on psone
I love Mirror's Edge. It was very impressive, since it was released in 2008, and was WAY ahead of it's time. That includes Mirror's Edge Catalyst as well, which I thought was very underated in my opinion.
You need to make mini demos of these games cause they look fun to have a shot of
I love the way you recreate the essence of the old games =D It makes me feel nostalgic even though this are not "real" games =P
I like how it says option instead of options, indicating there's only 1 setting
This channel is amazing. I have told all my friends about it, and we are loving it. Keep up the good work!
Why do i get the vibes i played this as a kid?
I love how you can actually experience the gamefeel with your videos, it's mental
This reminds me of that ps1 game, jumping flash i think it was called, pretty cool concept, keep up the great work!
gosh it's so convincing that you could tell me that this is running on an actual ps1 and i would not doubt you. and i played on that system quite a bit back in the day.
That bass in the beginning shook my car
I have a suggestion for a video! “if subway surfers was made in 1998.” I was playing it just now and thought to myself: “It would be so cool to see what this game would look like on PS1”!
It surely looks avantgarde for its time! Excellent work
Oh, you came back! It made my day 😄
I love how you mix the style of the old games with the style of a single modern game! It's great!
Do: "If Mad Max was made in 1998"
this looks beautiful
You come up with the greatest ideas.
The music is the most late 90s-early 2000s thing ever
I just recently discovered your channel and I just wanna say I love your work. Have already stormed through so many of your retro game vids 😂. Glad I found that Bioshock video.
Wow, it even has the "polygon folding" effect that the PS1 suffered from.
I would never donate to a channel with patreon or whatever but for more of these videos I definitely would.
Immediately perfect from the start screen alone lol
seems like it would be frustratingly difficult
I remember playing this game as a kid. Whenever my dad comes home from work, I will always ask him for help because I can't jump on those fricking poles lol.
This looks wonderful, it really reminds me of a DS Title
These are _so_ well-made!
God this is great, love the game, and you imagined it well in this context.
love how you even got the crappy PS1 texture warping. so weird that I actually miss that
This takes you so much time and effort and it really shows. Every video gets better and better keep it up!
This is amazing! Even the music would be suitable for the time, knowing that if music genres like Solar Fields isn't a thing yet back in 1998.
You always do a dam good job on these videos
You are a monster of demake! I realy enjoy yours videos!
This is perfect, with the aliasing, texture warping, Gouraud shading, and posterization/dithering.
The only thing that gives away it isn't a PSX game is the cyan/magenta posterization because of the extra bit for green of 16-bit RGB, where the PSX used 15-bit RGB plus a 1-bit mask. ;)
man, i think you should make a tutorial or two on how you capture so well the PS1 era aesthetic on your animations!
Thanks 4 the intro to this music artist I been looking 4 something that sounded very close to
PAC Steps in Pac-Man Turbo championship
That someone actually did the effort to make this!!..
Amazing!..
I can feel the tank controls through the video
I’m convinced this guy has a portal to an alternate dimension where all these games really were made in 1998 and he just brings them back to our dimension to profit from showing them to us
If you want to save your friends, *SOLVE MY MAZE*
Loving the PS1 style warping textures. Awesome.
Loading screen was too short haha
Another great video man!
Great vid! My ideas for next games:
-batman arkham city
-guitar hero
-witcher
-modern warfare 2
-stalker callofprypiat
-manhunt
-wolfenstein
-getting up:contents under pressure(plsplspls!)
This is the first video I don't see Justin Y. in the comments
Incredible job on making this video wow, already subscribed
